Homebrew Afriel Race Details

Afriels are half Human half Angel. They are depicted as normal looking humans with glowing eyes and wings.

As young children they are visited by their angel parent and told that in their life they have to make a decision. To ether live their life however they want with their human parent, and one day become fully human, or vow themselves to a god/goddess and seek to only do as that god/goddess pleases. Depending on how they live their lives when they turn 26 they ether turn fully human or fully angel Becoming a holy servant/warrior of their chosen god/goddess.

When the Afriel turns 12 their angelic parent returns to them to see what they have chosen. If they have chosen to try to become an angel then their angelic parent will take them to a temple of their choosing to be raised and live until they turn 18, when they are told to seek out their own knowledge. If they choose to stay with their human parent then their angelic parent leaves them to their own devices, but will come if the Afriel changes his/her mind.

When an Afriel turns human their wings dissolve into light and their eyes loose their glow, but other Afriels as well as those gifted in the art of magic can tell when someone use to be an Afriel. For their angelic side leaves a mark of magic with them no mater what they choose
When an Afriel turns fully Angel their wings grow larger as well as gaining an immense amount of holy power. They also get the robes of their god/goddess. Full angelic Afriels are forbidden to ever see their human sided family again.

Wings

They have feathery wings that are usually arranged in the color of their parentage. Their wings allow them to fly for hours without touching the ground. These wings can also be hidden by clocks, jackets, robes, etc.

Dark Vision

Because of their glowing eyes they have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. They can see in dim light within 60 feet of them as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. They can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

High Flyers

Afriels are just as comfortable in the sky as they are on land. They can spend hours in the air, locking their wings in place and letting the thermals hold them aloft. In battle, they prove dynamic and acrobatic fliers, moving with remarkable speed and grace, diving to lash opponents with weapons or magic before turning and flying away.
