Homebrew Scorpion Kin (Selqet) Race Details
Where the Selqet came from no one really knows, but the race one day emerged from the sands of the great deserts. They seem to keep to their own and have a varied degree of alignments from evil to neutral. Some good ones can be found. They make their cities well below the sands of the deserts, and some how they alone have figured out the method of making large cavernous cities beneath the sands with out destroying the structural integrity of the land above.
The Selqet follow a multitude of gods and are devout followers of their cities god. Most cities aren't built for the ideology of community rather the ideology of a god. For example a city of Kelemvor would have their city built in the remains of the creatures they have killed, often time being a city of bone, whereas a city of Malar would be decorated and designed around the pelts of animals and nature of the area.
Deities
Often times The followers of knowledge type gods accept outsiders to their cities, they are also often times not below the surfaces of the desert. As a whole the Selqet are not evil or even opposed to other races, they are however very religious, often times even if they are banished from their communities for horrid acts against the city they still spend their lives worshiping the gods they followed when they were a part of the city.
The Selqet, much to many's belief are not a mixture of Humans and scorpions. They have always been what they are, they can not actually reproduce with any other race. Their mating rituals are deadly to any one not a Selqet, and often times deadly to a Selqet that isn't a perfect mate. The process requires the Females to fight for the attention of the males, and if that wasn't a harsh enough once they have won the favor of a male they then sting the females if the females fall ill or die they were never a prefect match. Roughly, One and ten fall victim to this killing them. Some believe it isn't about being perfect rather having compatible poisons. Once both are certain the female lays her eggs, 1 to 8 per a cycle, at this time and for the remaining 8 days the eggs are at their most vulnerable as the shells are soft and easily penetrated, but can reform any cuts. After the 8 days the eggs turned to near impenetrable shell, the only way the babies are freed and do not die is if their poison is strong enough to eat through the shells. By the 6th day small scorpions are created in the eggs, it is then the males inject their poison and essence into the eggs. This essence is not semen rather part of their life force, therefore a male can only fertilize roughly between two to four clutches before it kills them. With in two days after fertilizing either the eggs will melt from the poison or create a Selqet, there is a 1 and 3 chance that a Selqet is created. Female can only produce a clutch once every 18 years, making them only able to reproduce roughly 4 times in life. All males that reproduce lose 1 point in their Strength and Constitution, if the selqet lives in a Selqet society it is nearly impossible to resist the call to reproduce. If they have been kicked from their city and society many feel the urge to reproduce but can easily ignore it.

The Society of the Selqet is a Matriarchy, although unlike others, such as Drow, the males and females are equals. The females tend to be the warriors and martial set types where as the Males tend to be the casters and holy practitioners, along with intellects. The society recognizes that both roles are just as important, with that said if a city is under attack from a worm or other underground creature the female warriors will give their lives to make sure that the religious leaders of their cities live to continue the word of their god. Even though often times many of the cities are founded on the premise of evil gods doesn't mean that the denizens are inherently evil or corrupt. They generally tend to be less hesitate to slit a person throat for a wrong doing than a city following a neutral deity.
The Selqet come in different types and are often distinguished by their coloration. Regardless of their color any of the Selqet can be found in any city. The Standard Selqet colors vary from grey to browns and pale colors.

The Selqet grow at a faster rate than most races, about twice a year for the first 30 years the Selqet shed their skin. The process takes a full week, during which time the Selqet can do nothing but shed their skin, as they try to break from the shell. In addition about a week after the process of shedding the Selqet Are Vulnerable to Slashing, Bludgeoning, and Piercing damage. Their skins are often sold for uses in armors and many times druids find them useful, cause they tend to offer similar defense of heavier armors. The Older the Selqet is the more durable and dense the chitin is when it is shed, like wise the older a Selqet gets the less he sheds. After 30 years of age they only shed once a year, and after 50 years of age they shed once every two years. Even though the Selqet are medium size creatures, they can get up to large size creatures being as tall as 8'6" and 9-foot long. The Shed Chitin weighs as much as 1/4 of their max weight. Ten Pounds of chitin will sell for roughly 10 gold.
The Selqet have a natural Armor with the chitin plates that go over their bodies. The Selqet can wear standard armor but they must choose between their natural armor or worn armor. Often times many of the warrior caste wear pseudo armors on the humanoid body for ascetics rather than practicability. All selqet gain a 16 base armor naturally, this does not increase or nor can it be decreased.
Age
Selqet live between 80 - 90 years of age before they die. They come into maturity around the ages of 3 to 4 years old. They become ready for reproduction around the ages of 18 - 20. If they didn't leave the city to adventure till after 20 remove 1 point from strength and constitution, if they left after 36 years of age remove 2 points from strength and Constitution. For every 18 years past 18 subtract 1 from both. Many of the adventuring Selqet leave prior to needing to mate for males that is. If they are playing a female Selqet than Once in her life she will return to a Selqet city to have at least one clutch fertilized. That process can take up to two years to complete.
Languages
Selqet speak the native language of the Selqet which is generally a serious of clicks and audible sounds of rubbing and scraping the chitin plates together. Because Selqet often do deal with other races in the area of their cities, they can choose one other Language of their choice.
Claws
The Selqet claws have over the time become rudimentary tools for climbing mainly, but as an Action they can attempt to restrain a target by grappling them dealing their Strength Modifier in Bludgeoning damage if they have had target grappled. This does require their action to maintain the grapple. Often times many of the Selqet do not use the claws for anything but mundane uses, such as holding basic items. The Claws can not be used for holding weapons or shields. Although it can hold a quiver in each allowing the Selqet to carry more Arrows.

Updated the Gods table to be more uniformed, also updated the wording on the tail attack, which holds true for all the Selqet, you can now only use the tail attack as a reaction to being hit with a melee attack, the Poison use is still a Limited use per a day. Remember that the tail attack deals a flat damage, different subraces of the mother race can deal less or more flat damage.
Added a note in the races description, not sure if it is something I am doing improperly or if it is just how the site works, but no matter if I add all the sub races as variants or sub races they always show up as additional races rather than being connected to the main mother race. As soon as I can figure out how to get them connected so all you have to do it click the mother race in the builder and it gives you a list of Variants it will be the way it is so be sure to look up the additional subraces.

Wow, by the nine hells this is one well made race!
A lot of time and effort must have gone into this...although it kinda lacks a desc. Are they like centaurs or humanoid scorpions?
the later they are more humanoid scorpion 🦂. Think the Driders (i mis spelt that sorry) from the drow
thank you for your comment, please feel free to look at my other creations I am always interested in feedback
I can’t seem to find the subraces, even if I look up the specific name in browse homebrew races. Do they simply not exist yet?
Do you plan on making the page a slight bit more coherent? It just seems to be a bit of a jumbled mess. Also I am curious as to the effects of the different venoms of the selqet
