Homebrew Aarrancar Species Details
Aarancar are prior mortal or in rare cases immortal souls that have fallen and lost themselves spiritually or mentally. As their soul dies off within them it metaphorically and literally hollows their heart and mind, thus they become monsters or some form of mindless entities within any of the realms they may have been put or brought into upon death. They would bare no difference from the monsters and creatures they become besides a black spot void of color somewhere upon their form, this is how one can identify an Aarancar in it's most early of earliest stages, mindless and manic, fulfilling it's cause and duty as whatever creature it has become. By chance if this Aarancar can survive and gain the ability to argue and rationalize, question and complain, manipulate and identify themselves slowly over time they begin to regain a sense of self, but they need the essence of others with more complete souls to realize their own, this is usually why they will continue following their creature's instinct to attack or consume adventurers and things alike. In this stage they are referred to simply as "Hollows."
Eventually with enough consumption and understanding of their own soul they can evolve breaking the mold from their monstrous self and being transported to another realm to begin the process at a much more dangerous and powerful level as another creature entirely. By now though, the creature they may take the form of might have implications to what their understanding and viewing their own soul as or can still be entirely random. This stage of their progression is the first and weakest but possible instance they may be satisfied realizing themselves and their souls, still mostly monstrous they'll end up usually a homunculus of races or monsters or animals of a realm, or more properly formed, on a case by case basis. When they form and spawn they will most likely host a resemblance to their original race but will bear the Aarancar mark of a Black Spot Void of Color somewhere upon their form with misinputs and malformations of monstrous proportions or deformities and can live their lives as the lowest and weakest class of Aarancar, this stage thus being referred to as "Gillians."
Those that cant settle for mediocrity or simply wish to understand themselves and their souls better will once again be transported and transformed into another creature upon another plane to consume and survive again, at an even higher risk and pace. By now they can actually think with complete sentences and thoughts, some even name themselves and have their own personalities and agendas aside from their innate instincts. This is also to resemble and show what creatures they become, although the plane doesn't truly matter. This stage of the process is where MOST Aarancar actually come from, as the path to the next mile stone is impractical and self destructively long for the compensation of power one would gain from doing it. Those that are satisfied at this point may awaken their soul once more and form with a complete resemblance to their original race while bearing the Aarancar marking of a Black Spot Void of Color or for those that are different or slightly more powerful and capable, or just spent more time identifying and understanding themselves may have a completely hollow spot on their body, as a hole missing somewhere on their form. This is a respected and valued instance of Aarancar, and thus this instance is known as "Adjuchas."
The final stage is incredibly rare, difficult and albeit in some cases impossible to occur depending on the realm, and creatures transformed into. If one in a sense of irony rejects simplistic understanding of their soul and demand greater self understanding while on their journey of discovery of self must be willing to prove to themselves and the nature of existence that they are willing to do anything to be themselves once more and won't lose sight of this again. They definitely become powerful creatures with personalities, wills, and reasons to live and self made objectives, they may even find themselves genuinely born into their life instead of spawning. Thus an Adjuchas must have another transformation and realm transfer, understand themselves and reject just simply being content with knowing themselves and wish to accept themselves as well, and lastly consume and eradicate a fellow Adjuchas from the path, tarnishing their soul and turning it to nothing forever more. If this is all done, their soul and spiritual journey is at an apex of completion, thus they will automatically awaken their souls, forming completely as who they once were with additives, the same Aarancar black void marking, or a hollow spot, and in this case of the stages, a outer physical birth mark usually a mask or helmet, or some kind of bodily fragment that hovers or is directly connected to their body, usually resembling their last creature identity that is most like them and their selves. This final stage is regally known as a "Vasto Lorde."
Lastly, a very rare and select few host one additional mark given unto them by fate, a number from 1 to 99. These Vasto Lorde are hand picked from fate to become and under go great things and cause great changes to the world or realms they inhabit or visit, only 99 of them may exist at a time. Once one dies, another may take it's place.
