Homebrew Yeblins Species Details

Origin

Experts have come to conclude that Yeblins are a very distant relative of Goblins, possibly being an ancient group of the Feywild that gave rise to this species. Commonly due to their size and hairy appearance it was believed that they were Yeti offspring, this popular belief led to their name.

Appearance

Yeblins are not anatomically different from normal Goblins, their most distinctive features are bigger ears, fur on almost their entire body and a tail.

The way a Yeblin's fur covers their body varies between each one, with some covering their bodies completely while others may cover only some areas or leave the skin exposed in some parts. While a Yeblin's fur is white, their skin varies in shades of light blue. If the temperature rises, their fur and skin change color and shades, remaining the same as normal Goblins..

The tails of regular Yeblins are usually no longer than 2 feet long, looking similar to those of wolves, leopards, or foxes.

Yeblins names

Yeblin names are usually mispronounced words or phrases from another language

Stupidly resilient

Compared to the common Goblin, they are more resilient, however they have also been shown to appear more stupid, being stuck at a basic stage of tribal civilization, being able to reuse raw materials and use found items, but they have not been shown to be able to refine materials beyond hides or wood, only a few understand written language, although most are able to speak different languages. It is really their own resilience that has allowed them to survive.

Relaxed savages

Recreational activities of the Yeblin are quite curious, although younger Yeblin can be seen running and playing with each other, adult Yeblin usually spend their time moving things just to pass the time, older Yeblin prefer to spend their free time doing quieter activities, the most common pastimes being wandering, sleeping or decorating their weapons with things they find. The rarest known case is when a tribe settled around a hot spring, in which they used to spend hours bathing.

Food and friends

In the frozen lands that the Yeblins inhabit, two things are extremely vital to their survival.

Food, for the Yeblins as for any other inhabitant of the tundra, food is the only reason to venture into the dangers of the land, this has caused the Yeblins to try to eat almost anything, be it animal or plant, always trying to bring more for the rest.

Friends, for the Yeblins, trusting each other is the only thing that keeps them alive, although they understand the concept of "family" as those with whom they are related by blood, the concept of "tribe" for them is the same as "friends". Due to this need to ally to survive, a Yeblin knows that alone it is weak, so it will seek to join a group regardless of their objectives. It is extremely rare to find a Yeblin that rejects the company of other creatures, the only known cases being those that have permanently traumatized the Yeblin.

Yeblins and Yetis

The relationship between Yetis and Yeblins varies from predation, avoidance, theft, or cooperation depending on the situation of the territory they inhabit. In cases where food is scarce or the Yeti is very territorial, the Yetis will view the Yeblins as potential food, even attacking them while they hunt for their own food. The small size of the Yeblins has resulted in an advantage in avoiding the large Yetis, digging several tunnels where only small creatures like themselves can move quickly without getting lost. It is also thanks to the ability to dig and hide that some Yeblins take advantage of moments when the Yetis are not attentive to steal parts of the prey they hunted, and then disappear into their tunnels. However, in some cases, the Yeblins find young Yetis looking for food, they usually provide them with their own prey, creating a simple relationship of food in exchange for protection from larger threats.
