Homebrew Aermo Species Details
"The prison—which was really cold by the way—had a set schedule. Eat in the morning, do whatever they tell you for the day, eat at night, rest and repeat. It's seriously a boring life, don't get arrested unless you already know how to break out. Anyway, me and Mikthan were talking, coming with a plan to leave the place. We're going over our skills such my suave personality and ability to attract attention and his...fists. Look, I love him like a brother but he really has no special traits asides for his strength. However, that's when it hit me, with his strength we could break our way out literally. So over time..."
"...after a insufferable amount of time spent punching dirt and building supports, all while avoiding the guards by the way, we made a tunnel to freedom. Now it sounds simple right? We wait for the day to end and just mosey on out, yet I wanted more. So what did I do you ask? I convinced Mikthan to stay for however long it took to extend the tunnel—wait for it—all the way into the maximum security chambers! I know, I must of been going insane! Thankfully it didn't take too much time, we were right next to the place, so after a few more weeks of digging, we managed to contact a few of the prisoners through the tunnels and tell them about our plan..."
"...here it was. The night of our grand scheme. I had done my part, talked a few others into causing a scene, making a good distraction and all. While the guards are busy, I, Mikthan, and the really special folks we picked up, all just casually strolled through the tunnels and escaped. Simple as that! There were a few close calls with some patrol units outside the place, but with no trouble at all we left our iron cages and were free birds again! I'm fairly certain all of us are still at large, but my favorite part was the fact my bounty tripled after that day!"
—Thorric, Recalling His Prison Escape
The Aermo are a forbidden mix of fairies and demons who often fall on one side of the coin. They possess both fey and demonic powers and tend to cause chaos with their abilities, knowing how they are often shunned from their ancestors and sometimes even hunted for their rarity. They are born survivors, having to grow up in secrecy to protect themselves, and learning how to get what they need either through charm and wit or perseverance and strength.
Immoral Creation
Aermo are born from fey and demonic parents, which make them prime targets for discrimination. They are forced to live on the material plane as they have no other place to go, having to form communities with others to feel safe or sometimes just surviving entirely in shadows, resorting to stealing and pick pocketing under disguises. Their main give away is their features, having a smooth blend of fey beauty and demonic qualities. Most Aermo lie about their past, making up stories as curses or pretending to be other races in fear that others will instinctively leave or even betray them if they were to find out their true origin.
Two Sides Of A Coin
Depending on how they grew up, Aermo can embrace more of their fey or demonic origins. This choice has shown to even affect their growth, as Aermo which live a more fey like life grow up to become more charismatic and likable among people. They are often the few Aermo found living in normal society, posing as a Tiefling or someone with a special condition. Aermo who choose to live a more demonic lifestyle are often seen as brutes or sometimes even monsters. They have vastly improved physical capabilities and give off much of a menacing aura, often having to live in secret or hidden communities which they tend to naturally become the leader of. The Aermo understand the importance of choice and how second chances never guarantee a third.
Aermo Names
The Aermo choose their own names once they decided how they want to live. They go by nicknames either created by them or given to them by others until they give themselves a real name. Most Aermo however only give themselves a true name after they have accomplished a task important to them, such as finding people to call family or conquering a mighty foe or inner fear.

Posted Feb 25, 2020It won’t allow me to use this in my character builder, even though it has subraces. By any chance, could this be fixed?
