Homebrew Abyssborn Species Details
The Abyssborn are the mortal offspring or distant descendants of demons who clawed their way into the Material Plane during ancient infernal wars or apocalyptic events. Whether bred through unholy rituals, cursed bloodlines, or twisted divine bargains, these beings are the living proof that the Abyss leaves scars that breed sentience.
They are not devils—there is no rigid hierarchy or cold ambition in their kind. Instead, the Abyssborn embody chaos, raw emotion, and survival. Many are outcasts or wanderers. Some are weapons, others are sages, and a few rise to carve kingdoms in blood.
To mortals, they are cursed monsters or living omens. To those who know better, they are a species forged in the crucible of suffering, with limitless potential.

Umbral Ascendant(shadowborn variant)
The Umbral Ascendants are a rare and elevated caste among the Shadowborn—beings not merely born of shadow, but refined by it. Where typical Shadowborn meld into darkness, the Ascendants command it, weaving it like thread through reality. Their forms are more ethereal, with shifting silhouettes and bodies that seem to blur and ripple like smoke. Horns curve backward like crescent moons, and long, blade-like tendrils emerge from their backs, flickering in and out of visibility. Their eyes burn with inverted starlight, white with black irises, and their presence seems to dim nearby light.
Ascendants often act as prophets, assassins, or agents of greater Abyssal entities, driven by whispers from the void. Their voices echo even when silent, and shadows obey their will. It is said that an Umbral Ascendant can step between shadows like doorways, their presence heralded by sudden cold and the extinguishing of flame.
