The Cheruvim are celestial-born beings who embody the delicate balance between love and despair. With radiant wings and the innate ability to nudge hearts, they serve as subtle guardians of intimacy, devotion, and compassion.

But their grace is fragile. When struck by deep trauma, betrayal, or heartbreak, their wings blacken and fall away, leaving them as Anti-Cupids, broken mirrors of their former selves. These beings sow distrust, jealousy, and obsession, often against their will.

Cheruvim are living paradoxes: embodiments of how love can heal, or destroy.

Racial Traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma increases by +2. You may also choose between two subraces (Cupid or Anti-Cupid) for an additional bonus.

Size: Cheruvim are slight and graceful. Your size is Small or Medium (your choice).

Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.

Dual Nature. Trauma can shift your form. Once per long rest, when you take a critical hit or fail a Wisdom saving throw against a fear or charm effect, you may choose to transform into your opposite aspect (Cupid ⇄ Anti-Cupid). This change lasts until you complete a long rest.

Subraces
Cupid (Winged Form)

Angels of tenderness and attraction, Cupids spread hope and compassion.

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom increases by +1.
Flight. You have a flying speed of 30 feet while not wearing medium or heavy armor.
Lover’s Insight. You gain proficiency in Insight.
Charm of Affection. Once per long rest, you may cast Charm Person without expending a spell slot. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this trait.

Anti-Cupid (Wingless Form)
Twisted by loss, Anti-Cupids stir envy, distrust, and obsession.

Ability Score Increase, Your Constitution increases by +1.
Grounded. You have no flight speed.
Aura of Disquiet. You gain proficiency in Intimidation.
Whisper of Dread. Once per long rest, you may cast *Bane* without expending a spell slot. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this trait.

  Charm-Touched.
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep, but non-magical methods such as drugs or tranquillisers can.

 Celestial Flight.
You have a flying speed of 30 feet as long as you aren’t wearing medium or heavy armor. Your wings are delicate and shimmer with faint light or shadow depending on your alignment.

 Ethereal Sight.
Your attunement to emotional energy lets you perceive subtle spiritual shifts. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
 Colourblind.
All Cheruvium are colourblind, and only see in shades of pink or grayscale.

As a Cheruvim, you embody the fragile duality of love’s beauty and its ruin. Radiant wings and a gentle aura mark those who walk the path of Cupid, guardians of affection and harmony. Yet, when scarred by grief or betrayal, a Cheruvim’s grace falters. Wings fall, leaving behind an Anti-Cupid—grounded, shadowed, and burdened with the power to twist bonds instead of mending them. Your form reflects the state of your spirit, and your gifts change with it. Whether soaring as a Cupid or walking as an Anti-Cupid, you carry the weight of both tenderness and torment within you. Wings. They have wings of any colours, usually matching their hair or similar

♡ Cupid

Cupids are emissaries of affection, joy, and divine bonds. They are born from light and warmth, often drawn to love stories, festivity, and moments of sincere emotion. Their arrows stir hearts, mend rifts, and ignite passion.

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 1.

  • Celestial Radiance. You can cast the light cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it.

  • Heartstring Arrow. As an action, you can infuse a ranged weapon attack (such as a bow or crossbow) with celestial magic.

    • On a hit, the creature takes normal weapon damage plus radiant damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

    • Additionally, the target must make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, it is charmed by you or an ally you designate until the start of your next turn.

    • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). All expended uses are regained after a long rest.

  • Aura of Warmth. As a bonus action, you can emit a soft, glowing aura for 1 minute. Any ally within 10 feet gains temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus at the start of their turn. You can use this ability once per long rest.

  • Gift of Connection. You have advantage on Insight (Wisdom) checks made to understand emotions and on Persuasion (Charisma) checks made in romantic or emotionally charged situations.

Anti-Cupids are the shadowed kin of the cherubim — celestial beings who embraced heartbreak, loss, and the raw truth beneath love’s sweetness. They believe pain gives emotion weight, wielding their arrows to fracture illusions and burn false bonds.

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1.

  • Shadowed Glow. You can cast the thaumaturgy cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it.

  • Fracture Arrow. As an action, you can infuse a ranged weapon attack with shadowed celestial energy.

    • On a hit, the creature takes normal weapon damage plus necrotic damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

    • The target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, the target is frightened of you or a designated creature until the start of your next turn.

    • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). All expended uses are regained after a long rest.

  • Aura of Heartbreak. As a bonus action, you can emit a dim, chilling aura for 1 minute. Enemies within 10 feet have disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws against being charmed or frightened. You can use this ability once per long rest.

  • Searing Honesty. You have advantage on Insight (Wisdom) checks to detect lies and on Intimidation (Charisma) checks during emotional confrontations.
