Homebrew ☁️Eosborn ( Sentient Magical Weapon ) Species Details
Born without cradle or lineage, the Eosborn are enchanted weapons or forgotten artifacts, belonging to magic—or perhaps a curse—and offered the spark of consciousness. Drawing upon their own mystical essence, they wove for themselves a shell, a humanoid form.
Whether born from the chaos of the world, the capricious will of a supernatural master, or the tragic fall of mortals whose souls cling to steel, all share the same destiny to awaken their spirits and walk among the living, carrying their core with vigilance, as wherever they may go, their presence cannot help but be noticed.

Eosborn Traits
- Creature Type: Humanoid
- Size: Small to Medium (ranging from 0.85 m to 1.75 m)
- Speed: 30 feet
- Languages: Commun aswell as one other language of your choice. They can also speak telepathically to any creature in contact of their Core Weapon.
- Age: Eosborn do not age, but their magic slowly deteriorates becoming just a slight glimmer after about 1000 years. Some say they never truly die.
Core Wielding
When you choose this race, select one simple or martial weapon to become your core weapon. You gain proficiency with that weapon, as well as an additional proficiency determined by your Genesis.
Furthermore, once per turn, when your core weapon deals damage, you can choose to deal additional 1d4 damage of a type determined by your subrace. The extra damage increases as you gain levels: 1d6 (5th), 1d8 (11th) and 1d12 (17th).
Inner Slumber
Your connection to your core weapon lets you always know its direction and planar location.
Additionally, when you begin a rest, you may dissolve your physical form and the items you carry, entering a dormant state within your core weapon. While in this state, you have resistance to all incoming damage, and you require only 6 hours to complete a long rest.
While your core weapon is equal to 0 hit points, you cannot use this trait.
Essence's Composition
The composition of your creation has shaped your talents. You gain one of the following options of your choice.
Densed Magic. While you aren’t wearing armor, your Armor Class equals 12 + your Dexterity modifier.
Dilated Magic. Your speed increases to 10.5 meters, and you weigh only three-quarters as much as normal.

Defunct Born
Formed from the dark entities of the Shadowfell, the undead, and those who command them, the Defunct Born serve as weapons of beings devoid of compassion, wielders of death’s cold grasp. They are often shrouded in an unnaturally cold mist, its color shifting from putrid hues to deep, mournful darkness.
- The bonus damage dealt by your core weapon is Necrotic, Cold or Psychic. You choose the type when you select this subrace.
- You have proficiency in the Deception skill.
Dread Born
Akin to monstrosities, echoing the shifting forms of mimics and the terror of the tarrasque, the Dread Born are shaped by chaos and the powers of the lower planes. They tend toward evil or neutral alignments, and are often marked by multiple eyes, mouths, claws, and other horrific features.
- The bonus damage dealt by your core weapon is Acid, Magical-Bludgeoning, Magical-Piercing or Magical-Slicing. You choose the type when you select this subrace.
- You have proficiency in the Intimidation skill.
Mystical Born
Created by the knowledge of wizards, the madness of artificers, or even divine hands, the Mystical Born were awakened as sentient magic items, given purpose — or left without one — by their careful creators. Their weapon‑forms bear arcane sigils, while their manifested bodies possess a faintly ethereal quality.
- The bonus damage dealt by your core weapon is Radiant, Force, or Psychic. You choose the type when you select this subrace.
- You have proficiency in the Arcana skill.
Verdant Born
Formed from an ancient archdruid’s wisdom, an archfey’s malice, or a rare natural phenomenon, the Verdant Born carry within them a recreated essence of a natural element. Their core weapon and manifested form both display features that reflect the nature of their origin.
- The bonus damage dealt by your core weapon is Lightning, Thunder, Fire, Cold or Poison. You choose the type when you select this subrace.
- You have proficiency in the Nature skill.
