By means of this spell, a willing creature or an object can be hidden away, safe from detection for the duration. When you cast the spell and touch the target, it becomes invisible and can't be targeted by divination spells or perceived through scrying sensors created by divination spells.
If the target is a creature, it falls into a state of suspended animation. Time ceases to flow for it, and it doesn't grow older.
You can set a condition for the spell to end early. The condition can be anything you choose, but it must occur or be visible within 1 mile of the target. Examples include "after 1,000 years" or "when the tarrasque awakens." This spell also ends if the target takes any damage.
* - (a powder composed of diamond, emerald, ruby, and sapphire dust worth at least 5,000 gp, which the spell consumes)
Magic Mouth can only be tiggered by something within 30 feet of the object, and the trigger must be visual or auditory
Still, spending 20,000 gp on a shoddy arcane computer that costs at least 5,000 gp just to put a command into it is a pretty bad use of it. You may as well use scrying. I'm not even sure how the piton are supposed to work under that logic anyway, or how they work with the iron ball.
This spell is never used to its best. In the hands of powerful mages, it can be used to cast imprisonment on an ancient evil that returns every thousand years. Repeat that in the incredibly long gap between reappearances of said villain (There’s bound to be one level 17 wizard in 1000 years who’s willing to help), and that enemy will never reappear again. There’s just one flaw in this plan. Saving throws. But even that can be easily circumvented by creating numerous Sequesters.
The spell specifies that it has to be used on a willing creature.
Note: "You can set a condition". You don't have to do so in order for the Spell to work, it's just an option.
Has anyone thought of using sequester in tandem with spells like polymorph and enlarge/reduce?
My immediate thought is a LV.13 Simulacrum customizer. lol stay with me. Ofc it would take a lot of materials but assuming you have it, could you have 2 casters cast polymorph and/or enlarge/reduce on a creature, then sequester that creature in that state creating an “invisible statue”. My understanding of “time ceases to flow” is that their state or stats will not register the flow of time until the sequester is dispelled. Could a 13 lvl wizard then create a simulacrum from that creature in that state since simulacrum basically screenshots the creatures current stats and never changes or grows from there?
