Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Their name says it all. These combatants are masters of the sword. They use their prowess to avoid enemy blows and deal their own in response.

This subclass is based on the swordmaster and myrmidon classes from the Fire Emblem series. They excel in movement and attack speed. True to the class in Fire Emblem, they are at their best when not wielding shields or wearing armor.

Please let me know what you think in the comments! I tried to include actual abilities as well as visual traits from the games (quick draw is based on Lyn from FE7).

Unarmored Defense

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the ability to avoid the attacks of your enemies with ease, even without wearing armor. While you aren’t wearing armor and not incapacitated, your AC = 10 + proficiency modifier + Dexterity modifier.

Adept

Starting at 3rd level, your skill with swords is well above that of a common fighter. Whenever you take the attack action, you may use your bonus action to make an additional melee attack. You must be wielding a sword and not be wielding a shield to use this feature.

Quick Draw

Starting at 3rd level, you can draw and sheathe you blades as quickly as you raise or lower your hands. While not equipped with a weapon, you can equip a sheathed sword as part of an attack, using that sword as the attacking weapon.
In addition, whenever you make an attack with a sword, you can sheathe the sword as part of the attack.

Quick-Footed

At 7th level, your speed on the battlefield is matched only by the fastest opponents. Your walking speed increases by 10 feet. Whenever you make an attack against a creature while wielding a sword, that creature cannot make opportunity attacks against you until the start of its turn.

Vantage

At 10th level, you are a master of attacking from the sheathe. When a creature attacks you, you can use your reaction to make one attack against that creature. If you hit, the creature suffers all the normal effects of the attack, and they must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier) or lose the triggering attack. You must have a free hand and an unequipped sword to use this ability.

You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. You regain all uses after you finish a short or long rest.

Swordfaire

Starting at 15th level, your attacks with swords are especially deadly. Any attack you make with a sword deals an additional 2 damage.

Astra

Starting at 18th level, you have mastered a dance of blades that is nearly always fatal to those you fight. When you take the attack action on your turn, you can attack up to twice as many times as normal. All attacks made by that action must target the same enemy.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can do so again.
