Laguz
Parent Race: Laguz

Like their name suggests, Dragon laguz form a group of Laguz that are able to assume the form of a dragon. Breathing fumes of Black, Red, or White flames in order to fend off their enemies, Dragon laguz are vulnerable to dragon-slaying weapons and Thunder Magic.

When you select this subrace, choose the color of your scales from among Black, Red, and White. This determines your breath attack type and damage dice while in dragon form.

Dragon Laguz Traits

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength and Charisma scores are each increased by 1.

Blindsight

As draconics creatures, dragon laguz have incredibly honed senses. You have blindsight with a range of 10 feet.

Boon

When an allied creature ends its turn in a space adjacent to you, that creature can attempt another saving throw for one condition afflicting it. The condition can be blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned. Once a condition is removed by this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before another condition can be removed.

Transformation

You have the ability to transform into an intimidating dragon-like creature. Using your action, you transform into a creature with statistics in the table below for 1 minute. You then revert to your normal form. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until after you finish a short or long rest.

While this transformation is very similar to that of a druid's wildshape, it is not the same, read the following rules about transformation carefully.

While you are transformed, the following rules apply:

  • Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics presented in the Dragon Form statblock, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies.
  • When you transform, you assume the Dragon Form's hit points. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of hit points you had before you transformed. However, if you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form, For example, if you take 10 damage in dragon form and have only 1 hit point left, you revert and take 9 damage. As long as the excess damage doesn't reduce your normal form to 0 hit points, you aren't knocked unconscious.
  • You can't cast spells. Transforming breaks your concentration on a spell you've already cast and prevents you from taking actions that are part of a spell.
  • You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the dragon form is physically capable of doing so. You also retain any special senses possessed by your normal form.
  • Your equipment merges into your new form. Equipment that merges with the form has no effect until you leave the form.
