I noticed the alpha Encounter Builder for the first time on Saturday, while in the middle of running a game. I was pleased with how easy it was to put together an encounter (again, seeing it for the first time ever while actively DMing, I was able to put one of my encounters into it on the fly); but apparently homebrew monsters are not supported, and I didn't see them in the list of features to be added in the "READ THIS FIRST" post.
Is this on the list to add? I make a lot of homebrew monsters, and I love D&D Beyond's support for that - I'm champing at the bit to build encounters with them. :)
I'm also interested in this. I realize it isn't in the Alpha version but would be interested if it is planned for later. I love the tool so far but honestly I have so many hometweaked (90% a regular monster with some changes) that I don't know how much milage I would get out of this tool if I couldn't add homebrewed monsters.
Thanks of all the hard work though guys, Beyond is literally the reason our group switched to 5e
I'm interested in this as well! Another alternative would be to simply allow us to customize the monster stats! This would be extremely useful, since like Mpruett, I like to simply tweak regular monsters a bit to be either easier, or more difficult for the party.
Definitely want to add my vote for this as well! I like to reskin other monsters and throw them into encounters to keep my players on their toes. It would be great if we could add homebrew monster to our encounter maker.
The ability to add homebrew monsters will be included in a future update.
It would be helpful if this was added to the READ FIRST - Encounter Builder Alpha Status thread. Or, if it won't be available during alpha, if somewhere else a list of planned features was posted.

They discussed this in the dev update they do - this is definitely going to be added to the alpha. Its certainly high up my 'wants' for this as well!

I did finally end up seeing that. I had glanced on the Beyond Youtube feed and didn't notice it, but then I saw the video in the D&D Live list of videos.
Hey so I just started using the encounter builder for the first time and was wondering if there was an update to this? I noticed the last post was in May. Wonderful encounter builder I love it!!!!

The team is still working hard to get homebrew monsters into the encounter builder :)
This needs added sooner rather than later. Hopefully they are working on it currently
Yup! The team recognized the overwhelming desire to be able to add homebrew monsters to the encounter builder and are working towards adding that in! (In addition to other features of course!)
Just chiming in as a new Beyond user (been playing DnD purely off-screen for 18 years or so, it's a huge step for me :P) and it's the one feature that prevents me to switch to a laptop-based DMing.
I love the direction Wizard is taking. Keep it up!

We need the ability to put homebrew monsters in this.
I too would like this question answered.

Thanks for the info, I assumed but wanted to check. Keep up the good work!

I would love the ability to add homebrew monsters to the encounter builder, it would be helpful in creating very specific encounters.

Great to hear! Thank you for the update.
As a purely off-screen DM tool, it seems pretty solid aside from the lack of adding homebrewed creatures. Once that's in it seems pretty much done.
