A small country on the eastern tip of the known world of Vathmir. Many of you are well traveled, but can't seem to stay away from this welcoming country. Every race from elf to goblin is welcome within it's boarders, the mead is cheap, and the adventures are plentiful. 15 years have past since the war ended with Crul Astra, and ever since there has been nothing but peace to be spread. Though there is a queen, each city of Ednar has it's own unique systems of rules, leaving the citizens feeling free and unencumbered. You all now reside in such a city.
Nadall
Sandwiched between the Sabre Coast and the Kay-Crag mountains is the port city of Nadall, where you all find yourselves. It an epicenter of trade and a great place to line your pockets with coin. Some of you have been staying in the city for a while, staying at the local inns and keeping a low profile. Some of have just come in from a long voyage at sea. And even some of you may not know how you got there at all. Lichen cakes the quay and sea salt chokes the air. The limestone houses pop against the backdrop of a calm sea. The town is it's normally busy self, with a bit of merriment thrown in as a ship coming into port bears the flags of a well known group of entertainers known collectively as the Sailing Circus. They've spoken with the Nadallian Council and have planned a show for the people of Nadall within the coming days.
First, an introduction: My character, Adran, is a half-elf drow, though he takes after his mother, the human. He is fairly tall, has dark blue eyes, and light brown hair. Right now, he is inside of the eldritch emporium, pretending to look around. What he is really there for is to watch the barracks on the other side of the street, watching the guards move in and out of the building. While he doesn't like to get on the wrong side of the law frequently, he feels that it is a good idea to know all of the important people in the town. To him, important people are people that can fight, so he watches the guards.

I will protect those I hate. Even ... even if the one I hate most ... is ... myself.
You've noticed the guards wear different colored tabards to depict rank. The Captain of the Guard is a white dragonborn named Irchek. He is a member of the Nadallian Council and is known to be well trained in swordplay.
The Eldritch Emporium is a large building, and you gather the owner has a liking of the color red, as the store is drenched in it. Items of varying magical properties align the walls and shelves in a neat and organized manor. The floor level seems to be items of magic used in everyday scenarios, while the second holds weapons and armor, and is closed off to children. The store has a system of magical alarms and other precautions set that runs like clockwork.
Colleen is a slender, short human woman with bright green eyes and short red hair. She's dressed comfortably and practically, ready for the road.
Colleen happens to be in the Eldritch Emporium too, trying to convince the proprietor to lower his price on a rare tome he has two copies of so she can re-sell it to a buyer in another city.
She notices the half-drow trying to look casual and not buying anything. She approaches him and says, "Fine morning for a garden walk, too bad the closest is closed to strangers." (If Adran understands thieves' cant he would get that I'm trying to warn him off of this shop as it is well warded.)

Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God Adewild: Shadows and Light 2 Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Outside sitting under a nearby tree sits a dark crimson blue skinned Genasi just leaning back and enjoying the beauty of the day. In his hand rests a book that he is just reading slowly and to enjoy each page. His snow white hair is shaved on the sides but long on the top resting wildly. His body is just covered by cloth pants and a sleeveless hooded shirt. Next to him rests a backpack and a staff. His eyes begin to lift up from the book as he decides to just people watch for a bit lifting up his waterskin to his lips.
Ilantos is of about medium height, slender, with the head and wings of an owl. He is covered in a mixture of brown and white feathers and his hands and feet are like the talons of a bird. He wears leather armor but is not heavily armed. He carries little more than a staff and a small knife at his belt for protection.
Ilantos is at the Eldritch Emporium, searching through books for anything related to signs in the stars.
Adran looks at Colleen, and responds. "I... suppose it could be good day for a walk, but... do I know you?" (Adran has no understanding of thieves cant and is visibly confused)

Looking through a selection of tombs and old books, you find a selection of books that touch on the subject, but one particular leather-bound volume: Falling Within the Void, seems to be the best pick of the lot. The cover is slightly damaged and the pages are yellowed at the edges, but no further damage has befallen it.
Colleen says in a soft voice, "Sorry, we don't know each other, you looked a little like you were sizing the place up, and I was using some underworld slang to warn you off. Sorry to bother you, my name's Colleen, by the way."
"Ah, I see. Nice to meet you Colleen. I appreciate the warning, despite the fact that I didn't need it. My name is Adran." (Out of character, I saw that you are putting speech in bold. Do I need to do that?)

While you find interesting tidbits about certain star cycles and godly influences, you find nothing that connects to your studies. But it appears to be the closest you've found.
Ilantos shuts the book and slides it back onto the shelf. It was close, but it wasn't what he was looking for. He nods politely at the shopkeeper before heading back outside.
