As the others talk with the manticore, Falver slinks his way to Rel, whispering low when he can: "I don't care what the others do, this thing is devious...I don't trust it at all. Keep a close eye on it, and be ready for anything"
(Falvers passive perception is 14. Would he have noticed Echo scaling the tower?)
Falver attempts to hide again, still with his bow drawn and arrow notched.
(Stealth: 20 )
Now it appears 2 of the party are leaving to go get meat from town??? Oh no... Falver stays put, keeping his bow at the ready, watching the Manticore and keeping an eye out for Echo and Adabra... if they need help, he will be ready.

Echo finally makes her way up to the open window, but slips as there's nothing against the window to support her weight and tumbles headfirst into the building. She replies to Adabra as she stands: "Hey! I'm Echo! Don't worry, we got you! We'll just say you were here doing... important stuff! What were you doing here anyways?"
"My friends are distracting the big thing, we should go quickly. You got any sturdy pillars or something heavy that can support your weight?" Echo pulls out a rope and searches for a place to anchor it so Adabra can use it to climb down from the second-floor window.
(ooc: does she need to roll for this? I'll do it just in case: 15, no bonus for Perception, -1 for Investigation lol)
"Maybe," conceeds Khessa, smiling reassuringly "but you'll get your food all the same. And without the effort of having to look for a prey and fight it. We'll soon be back and it will be worth it" and with that she starts to walk in direction of the town, eager to fulfill her part of the deal.
Tookrashk cocks his head. He smiles or at least that's what it appears he is trying to do, but the sight is ghastly on his grotesque humanoid face. It looks much more like a leer.
"Friends find meat, give meat to Tookrashk. Tookrashk wait until friends come back."

Falver does notice Echo climbing up the windmill. Tookrashk doesn't notice Falver slipping out of view and hiding behind a nearby tree.

"This is my home!" Adabra says, almost wailing again. "I didn't want to leave my home."
Adabra wipes a tear from her eye as she scans the room. It's a small room and clearly a bedroom with a small bed, side table, and a table with a washbasin and ewer. There aren't any pillars or support structures, but the bed looks like it might be sturdy enough to support their weight.
"Maybe the bed?" Adabra sniffs. "We could push it against the window and tie the rope to one of the posts."
"It doesn't have to be quality meat... and we don't need it particularly tasty or tender either" Khessa further explains to the butcher. "We just need it fresh and in sufficient quantity to satisfy... let's say ten people".
The tall warrior does not want to risk bringing back a too little meal... If Tookrashk will be satiated with less meat, the leftover one can remain for the next day and in the meantime the party will be able to get an idea of its needs.
Hearing Adabra's response, Echo flails a bit, not sure what to do to comfort her. "Oh! Oh, right, well y'know, my friends are talking with the big guy outside, it's just hungry and it seems reasonable. Maybe we can all be friends and you can come back later? AND plus we can at least get you out of here for now!"
"The bed sounds good, do you want to go first?" Echo says, already moving to push the bed towards the window and tying the rope around the railings tightly. She throws the length of the rope out and down the window. "I'll hold onto it on this end just in case! We probably want to go around the back and meet up with my friends near the front gate."
Rel maintains the Minor Illusion of Adabra weeping and sobbing intermittently on the manticore's side of the room so the creature does not notice anything is amiss as Echo and Adabra climb down out an opposite window.
Falver watches between the Manticore and the escaping Adabra and Echo... as they descend he will be ready to help them in escaping, leading them away from the Manticore, and then back to the main trail to town without raising any alarm. That's his plan, at least.
Just as soon as Jasper and Khessa arrives in town, Jasper makes his way to the butcher.
”Hello! Hello! Jasper calls out. “I’m Jasper and this is Khessa. I don’t mean to be rude, but we are in a great hurry. Do you have any meat for sale?”
Tom the butcher is a middle-aged man with a sparse crown of grey hair and calm, grey eyes. He eyes the newcomers with the patience of someone who has been in his trade a very long time.
"Well, a'course I got meat for sale, young'ins!" he declares. "This is a butcher's shop, ain't it?"
Jasper agrees with Khessa. “Yes. Feed at least ten people.”Jasper asking the butcher, “How often can this amount of meat be provided?”
"You want to feed ten people the lowest quality meat?" Tom asks, with genuine puzzlement. But he shrugs as if he doesn't care one way or the other as long as he gets paid. "I got 10 lbs of beef scraps you can have for 10 silver pieces. I reckon I could sell you 5 lbs a day of beef and venison scraps."
Hearing Adabra's response, Echo flails a bit, not sure what to do to comfort her. "Oh! Adabra looks nervously down the length of rope. "I've never been the athletic type..." she says uncertainly, as she takes hold of the rope. Slowly, she edges her way out of the window and carefully lowers herself down the rope. She huffs and puffs the 10 feet or so it takes to get to the ground, and once on the ground her arms are visibly shaking. She wipes a bead of nervous sweat off her brow.

"Oh, it is not for people, that's why we are not too much concerned with quality" Khessa briefly explains. "But we don't have much time to chat now, so... deal!" and she buys the 10 lbs currently available. After paying Tom, she promptly heads back with Jasper.
On their way back, she says "This should do it! A meal for ten people... Tookrashk must be hungry, that's for sure, but this should suffice even for it. Plus... I think I'll give a hint about how it can get some more snacks if it so desires... I remember one of the other problems here around is that of the orcs..." she winks "...and I think they are tasty, don't you agree?"
If the journey back is uneventful and they arrive without further problems, the blonde warrior waves at her friends then smiles at the manticore, advancing toward it with the 10 lbs of meat in her arms: "Hey Tookrashk! Did you miss me? Take a look at what we have got for you!"
While the manticore eats, Khessa tries to check its fur and mane, to gently remove dirt or parasites, gently explaining that this treatment will help keep it healthier. (Of course, she stops and does not insist, if the monster does not want).
At the end of the meal, Khessa turns her blue eyes into the feral ones of the manticore and asks, "Are you better now?"
In doing so, she also checks if the manticore was so hungry that it ate all the meat... or there is a little left over for the next day as well (just to have an idea of what the new friend's needs are).
Jasper agrees with Khessa, it should suffice. “If we could keep it fed on 5 pounds of meat a day, it might not attack others.” Hearing Khessa suggest the orcs as food for Tookrashk is a little unsettling but does agree that Tookrashk can be a good help with them. “We can keep an eye on Tookrashk while we continue with the jobs. Make sure the beast doesn’t hurt anyone.” Jasper suggests to Khessa. Jasper thinks to himself an opportunity is presenting itself.
When we reach the windmill, Jasper lets Khessa take the lead with Tookrashk. Keeps a relaxed posture to the side of Khessa. DM~What time is it now as we return to the windmill?

As Adabra touches down, Echo pokes her head out the window and cheers quietly: "good job!!" and follows suit. (Another dex check if needed: 16) Once she lands, she gives Adabra two thumbs-up and then puts a finger on her lip to signal that they should be quiet. She quickly runs to the edge of the building and looks over towards approximately where Rel and Falver were staying. She doesn't have any way to talk to them but she waves and instinctually, a bunch of sparkles puff out where she is (Prestidigitation), hopefully catching their attention. Echo then heads back, grabs Adabra's hand and pulls her out the back gate so they can go around, back to the front, and meet up.
For a few seconds, Rel replaces the audible Minor Illusion with a different sound. A Minor Illusion that sounds like the distant roar of a dragon on the wing, meant to suddenly draw the Manticore's attention away from the back gate where Echo and Adabra are escaping. Making it seem as if a weeping Adabra is still on the upper floor but suddenly stopped when she heard the dragon. Rel repeats the dragon's cry once more, then has the sound of Adabra's weeping soon resume from the upper floor.

It is about 4 o'clock or so. Walking to the windmill, then back to town, then back to the windmill has taken a few hours from the day.
Tookrashk's head whips up like he's been electrocuted when he hears the sound of the dragon. He turns his head this way and that, eyes searching for the source of the noise.
"Dragon bad!" Tookrashk hisses. His wings unfurl, and he launches himself into the air. "Nice friends. Good friends," the manticore calls back over its shoulder. "Tookrashk go now!"
With that the manticore flies away from Umbrage Hill heading south deeper into the wilderness.
"Take care, Tookrashk!" the blonde warrior greets it before it goes "And remember! Now that we will help you with food, DON'T hunt humanoids anymore! You know humanoids? One head, two arms and two legs, about like me? Those no longer! If you really want an extra snack... I heard there are orcs around... THOSE humanoids you can hunt! You know what they look like? Stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks. And you know? They're pretty tasty too!" to make herself understood even better, she licks her lips.
With the manticore satiated and departed, Khessa retrieves the leftover meat: "Well... Fortunately, even a little less is enough to satiate our new friend. We might be able to keep it fed, so it does not attack the citizens. And also helps us against other enemies. If we can convince other 'inhabitants' of the surroundings who do not love the dragon too much to help us, getting rid of that overgrown reptile may be easier".
"Anyway," the tall warrior is then ready to journey back to Phanadalin "time to accompany our dear Adabra to the safety of the town! Shall we go? Or do you have something you wish to bring with you, Adabra?" the blonde puts an arm on the midwife's shoulders"We are many, we can carry some of your things for you, if needed. Just tell. Else... well, let's go; better not linger too long, because we really met the dragon, while coming here. It would be dangerous to be found by that beast now, that we are not yet ready to defeat it".
If we make it to Phandalin without problems, Khessa leads the party and Adabra to townmaster Harbin Wester, so that he can find accommodation for the midwife... and also pay the promised reward!
Rel inclines her head to the tall blonde human warrior in respect.
"Well done. I underestimated our... really your... ability to parley with the manticore. I still doubt it will help us fight against a stronger creature such as a dragon, but I've already been wrong once about it."
She suggests leaving a note on the door of the building indicating that the midwife has gone to Phandalin, in case any come looking for her. Beyond that, Rel is ready to head back.

“It’s a couple hours to sunset.” Jasper points out to the others . “We should gather whatever Adabra needs and get back to town. For her sake.”
While the others are helping Adabra, Jasper looks around the hillside for plants, mushrooms, herbs or berries to work into potions or remedies. As well as on the way back to Phandalin.

On the way, Echo chatters about the incredible feat they just pulled: "---You always hear about people slaying this beast and that monster, but how often do you hear about adventurers befriending one, huh? A simple nice meal can do so much!"
To Falver and Rel: "Thanks for looking out! I definitely overestimated my nimbleness there," she laughs a bit sheepishly, "those illusions were great, it was real weird talking to Adabra but also hearing the sound of her crying. But in a good oh-a-magic-trick way?"

With Tookrashk gone, the party is free to regroup and help Adabra and plan their next move!

Or do you have something you wish to bring with you, Adabra?" the blonde puts an arm on the midwife's shoulders "We are many, we can carry some of your things for you, if needed. Just tell. Else... well, let's go; better not linger too long, because we really met the dragon, while coming here.
