Iridh and Sierra
(OOC: So, I forgot to mention previously that you would be given a Thearrothen Academy Initiate Brooch. I added it to both of your character sheets, equipped and attuned it to you, Iridh. I added it to your inventory to save us time down the road, Sierra, but you haven't been given one yet.)
It's also worth noting you're required to wear them visibly. They grant you access to everything on academy grounds.
This didn't need to be a spoiler, but I know it's going to make the rest of the players wonder what special information I gave both of you, so I'm going to leave it.
Yesterday was a long, and potentially emotional day for you, Hin, Laurence, Mythe, and Vera. Barburry left the academy on temporary leave, for family problems. That was yesterday and this is today, which happens to be Fylen. The four of you have returned to your tower, you don't have any mandatory classes tomorrow, and it's beginning to get late.
Iridh, as it's getting late in the evening. The sun is quickly going down and small lights are popping up around the courtyard, lighting up the surrounding area of students as they are walking around. As you're walking through the courtyard, you notice the central statues begin to glow slightly, as a beam of white light launches into the sky from the center of the statues. You've never seen this happen since you've been here, but other wizards here have. This is the warning alarm that a new student has completed the entry riddle and gain entrance to the academy. You then see the portal open and a figure appear. It's difficult to get details though, due to the lack of light.
You push the button hidden on a piece of rubble, Sierra. As you do, you watch a blue lightning bolt launch from the three areas you found the hidden riddles, and meet in the middle of the ruins where they merge then strikes down into the ground, disappearing, and leaving a dancing tear in the air in front of you. Studying the tear, you see what appears to be a large feminine statue. You step towards the tear with caution, before you get too close and appear in a different area. Looking around, you appear to be in a large open courtyard. It's still dark here, just like where you previously were, but it's not as hot. It must have been some sort of portal system, but it most definitely isn't your standard portal. You see a handful of people moving about the area you're in, they all have floating lights following them around, providing illumination to help minimize the dangers of traveling in the dark, but more impressively, you see three 14 foot tall statues in front of you. All three statues appear to be mystically lit and made of marble. You don't see any obvious light source, but all three are perfectly lit. The first statue is the feminine statue you saw while looking through the strange portal. Her curled hair falls to her shoulders, she has large rubies for eyes, a billowing cloak, and a set of ornate robes. Both the cloak and robes are gold leaf gilded around the edges. Her elbows are tucked into her sides, with her arms out front, holding a large crystal orb. You can see raw arcane power swirling around within the orb. The second statue you see is that of a handsome human man. Identical to the first, he wears ornate robes and a cloak, gold leaf gilded. He has a mess of shaggy hair on his head, large sapphires for eyes, and he holds a tome in one hand and a quill in another. You realize this is a statue of Thul. The third statue is of a female half-orc. She has long dreadlocks, billowing in the same direction as her fur mantled cloak. She has large emeralds for eyes, and beneath her cloak, you see more furs covering the majority of her body. Similarly to the other two statues, she's gold leaf gilded around the edges. She holds a chisel in one hand, and a small hammer in the other.
You don't get long to marvel the statues, Sierra, as you and Iridh both notice the people moving across the courtyard begin to run in panic. "What was that?!" you hear a lady shout. The two of you, in different parts of the courtyard, look up into the sky to see what the commotion is all about. You both catch, literally, the tail end of some sort of massive beast fly behind the observatory. You saw massive wings, and a very long reptilian-esque tail, though you heard no sound. Not even the sound of wings flapping through the air. Sierra, you take off towards the nearest structure to you, to provide some safety in case whatever that was comes back and is dangerous. Iridh, you get the notion to return to your home, but whatever that was is directly between you and home, so you go the other way, towards the Tower grounds. Sierra, you grab the handle of the first tower you reach, open the door, and quickly fling yourself inside. Iridh, you run after someone as they enter their tower. As you attempt to grab the door handle to try to enter, you watch the tower vanish from sight. You were afraid that was going to happen. You know these towers live in a dimension of their own and are capable of appearing and disappearing as needed. However, you did notice that new person took off and managed to get into a tower, and you're one of the last people still outside at the moment, so you run towards the tower they entered, and you manage to get yourself safely indoors as well.
Hin, Laurence, Mythe, and Vera. The four of you are enjoying your evening. It's peaceful, nothing major is going on tonight, and you're all just staying in for the night. You've maybe just finished your final dinner that Barburry had prepared for you, then all of a sudden a strange human-looking woman barged into your personal tower. You've most definitely never seen her before, and studying her clothing, she is not wearing a brooch. She's breathing heavily, and it would appear as if she had just finished running. Before you get a chance to say or react in any way short of staring, the door swings open again and a human man stumbles into your already invaded living quarters. He's also sweating and breathing heavily, though a couple of you, namely Vera and Hin, do recognize this person.
(OOC: Everyone please take this time to introduce your characters to each other and describe what they look like. Welcome to A Summoning Gone Wrong!)
When the two breaks in, they see a hobgoblin preparing a pot of steaming honey tea at the table, focused on their task, the two hear them say out of habit: "What did you forge-" but suddenly realise something. (That, actually, everyone's already inside the tower.) The hobgoblin raises their head to look towards the doorway. Their face is round and almost youth-like, with doe eyes, thick brows, and tusks peeking over their lip. Gold eyes wide with alarm, they stare unblinkingly. The red of their skin is tinted purple in the warmth of the tower, and you see that their nose in particular is more blue than it is red. Their black hair is mostly short and chin-length, save for a long braid trailing at the back. Dark teal robes over a cream-coloured blouse, their outfit is loose and comfortable. The robe is crossed loosely across the chest and is tied at the waist with a deep red sash. Under the robes, they wear a flowy palazzo.

They stare for a moment, attempting to process what is happening, two strangers coming into their tower looking like they were running for their lives. They blink slowly. After another long moment, they ask in a slightly incredulous tone, "may I help you?"
A scraggy fat opossum is perched on their shoulder, nibbling on a biscuit. It squeaks at the two and crumbs tumble out it's little claws.
The young human-looking woman flings herself through the tower door, rolling across the floor and coming to a stop in a tense kneel. She looks at the four incredulous occupants of this room and realizes how out of place she looks.
Decked out in scale mail and carrying a buckler on her left arm, she wields a nasty-looking whip which she embarrassingly tucks away on her belt. When the human man barges into the room, her instincts fire and she jerks away until she realizes it's all safe.
Sierra takes off her hat and scratches her head. She has a youthful but weathered face, short brown hair and dark eyes, and somewhat pointy ears revealing her elven heritage. Realizing that's she flushing a bit, her brow furrows as she begins to speak.
To the hobgoblin, Sierra replies, "there's some kind of monster out there!"
She turns to the newly arrived man."Surely you've seen it too!"

"Ah, thank you, Laurence. That tea looks-" Hin's head snaps over to the newcomers, curly brown hair flying into her face. She doesn't bother pushing them away as she stands. Unfolding to her great height of... 4', the dwarf jumps off her chair and quickly strides over to Iridh and the newcomer. She stands in front of the two with her hands on her hips. "Iridh? Is everything alright? And who are you?" Her loud and booming voice doesn't seem to fit the dwarf. As well as being the shortest of the group, Hin has a thin, lanky frame not normally seen on dwarves. Dressed in a simple loose button down blouse and high-waisted green corduroy pleated trousers, she is in no way as ornately dressed as her hobgoblin counterpart.
"Now where did they go..?" she mutters to herself, plump lips pouting. Her face is round and child-like, and a few wrinkles adorn the sides of her eyes from constant exaggeration of facial expression. Her chocolate colored hair is cut in a short frizzy bob and has been let loose, with a single white churruscó of hair spiraling down the side of her head. Her skin is of a fawny complexion, and freckles create constellations across her cheeks and nose. A single gold nose ring is the only jewelry on her, other than the academy brooch she now fiddles with as she goes around the bottom floor of the tower, looking for something. "Aha." She reaches under one of the chairs and pulls out a shivering baby giant pacific octopus that is the same color as the floor. "Calo, there you are. You adorable little coward." They wrap around her finger, turning a bright shade of red. "Monster?" She turns to the new human. "What kind of monster?"

Mythe sits silently at the table, attention fixed on the class work she’s reviewing as she waits for Laurence to finish brewing the tea. It is only upon the two newcomer’s arrival that she looks up, gilded eyes narrowing at being disturbed. Her icy blonde hair is braided out of her eyes, crowning the top of her head in a circlet before being left to fall down her back in perfect waves. A few stray pieces are left to frame her face, curling around long, pointed ears and complimenting her pale, unblemished skin. Slender and elegant features facial features are only highlighted by the elves unusual eyes, one gold, one silver, both staring coldly at the intruders as they tumble into the room. Her outfit is simple enough - a white blouse and navy skirt coupled with a fashionable light blue blazer - but it’s textiles are rich enough to mark her as noticeably wealthy, as is the expensive looking jewellery she wears with it. Subtly inching away from Hin’s strange pet, (I imagine that Mythe is not a fan of octopi lol) she crosses her arms, her expression openly judgemental of both newcomers as she waits for them to answer her towermates’ questions.
Here’s a cartoon-style drawing an internet friend of mine did of Mythe, just to help with visualisation. These are not the exact clothes she’s wearing, but they’re pretty close!
Iridh puts his hands on his knees, puffing and trying to catch his breath. "Not sure... what it was... but it looked big... and dangerous." He says between breaths, before straightening and glancing at the door, as if afraid it would suddenly buckle. He wipes his brow, "Thank Iris I made it inside, it got between me and my roum." His cutting, narrow azure eyes scan the occupants of the room. "Well it's good I at least sort of know a few of these people,"he glances at the door again, "I think we might be trapped in here for a bit." His black, curly hair is dampened with sweat, which trickles along down his white skin into his thick, short beard like a gaggle of sledding children. He wears a heavy black fur coat, out from behind which crawls a white crab, whom he mutters something to before it crawls back into his coat.

Sierra pants for a bit, seeing the small menagerie of pets the group has. She opens her palm as a small wolf spiders climbs through her fingers and on the wall, comfortably taking a spot in the corner of the room.
She says, "I take it that this is the Academy, then? I've traveled long and far to come here. Forgive my lack of a brooch, but I am a new arrival."
She frowns. "I expected trouble during the journey, but not at the destination."

An elderly lady with greenish flowing strands of hair that cascade down in waves and reach her chest, remains frozen in a stance as if she has been astonished at the sudden appearance of two intruders. She wears a floral crown to keep the stray strands of hair out of her face, but a part of her coarse length is left loose so that it can cover her left eye. Someone might assume that the light of the interior is responsible for shading a green hue on her skin, but they're mistaken. Donavera Lorinda Isemist of Tepest has natural olive toned skin and she's proud of her genetic acquisition.
When she hears that some sort of big and bad monstrous creature is lurking around, she presses her plump lips together then suddenly starts chuckling and twirling her body; the length of her long flowing skirt moving and swirling like liquid burgundy.
"Oh, it's such a wonderful incident! So exciting! You there, Iridh, come here and take a seat. Tell us what that thing might have been. A werewolf?"
She places a glowing orb in front of the fellow student that shows the Minor Illusion of a werewolf. The illusion morphs into the image of a raven, and you see an actual raven staring at the newcomer from the other side of the orb. The raven named 'Zodiac' mimics something that sounds like, "Nevermore."
"Out in the courtyard?" Laurence furrows their brows but doesn't stop preparing tea- pouring it into their towermate's mugs. Retrospectively, they retrieve 2 more for the newcomers, since it seemed a bit rude to not include them, especially if Hin and Vera recognise one of them- Iridh. They hand the mugs out, and replies to the woman, "this is the academy, but it seems like you haven't been given the orientation tour yet. I am Laurence."
Iridh takes a seat next to Donavera as instructed, "It looked rather draconic, it was very large but small enough to land in the courtyard. I didn't really get a good look at it, I must say." He looks over at the door again. "I hope ama is okay,"

As Laurence introduces themselves, the dwarf nods in acknowledgment. "I'm Hin, and this is Calo." She takes a sip of the tea, holding up her little finger as the cephalopod scuttles to its tip. Calo gives an animated wave, wrapping around seven of its tentacles around her finger. She moves to where Vera and Iridh are seated, using one hand to lean on the backs of one of the chairs and the other to take another sip of tea. She jerks her head to move the curly hair out of her face, eyebrows shooting up in surprise as Iridh mentions the nature of the beast outside. "Draconic? Were you able to get a good look at the color? Maybe we should go out and take a look, make sure that the teachers know of the situation, and that anyone isn't harmed." She takes another sip of tea and gently sets the teacup down on the table. "Laurence, that is outstanding tea. Thank you very much."

He takes a sip of his tea, "I think we should let the professors handle it, Hin, I'll contact professor Grusk once I have my wits about me. It didn't look like there was anyone else in the courtyard. But if you insist I can send Horatio out to check."

Meanwhile, Vera has been eagerly taking in the information provided by Iridh while helping Laurence to serve tea to the newcomers. "Don't worry about it, Iridh. The draconic creature can be a temporary illusion created by one of the attention-seeking apprentices. If it's not an illusion, we're going to be safe under the protection of our tower."
Vera, who's currently disguised as a fortune teller Vistana gradually moves near the stranger (Sierra) and attempts to introduce herself, "Hello there! I'm Donavera Isemist of Tepest, but you can just call me 'Vera'. Would you like to have a cup of tea and join us?"
"Thank you for the tea, Donavera. I don't think it was an illusion, no student novice enough to be considered attention-seeking would be able to conjure that up."

Iridh and Sierra thinking about what Vera just told you, yeah, some powerful arcane practitioners are capable of casting major image and creating very convincing illusions. Perhaps it was just an illusion of some sort, Sierra. Iridh, you know even those illusions have their limits, and this draconic creature, if it was a creature and not an illusion, was far beyond the limitations of any illusion spells you know of.
After another moment Iridh pipes up: "You know, the more I think about it, the more confident I am that it was corporeal. Any illusion of that size and quality would drastically exceed the abilities of any spell I've ever heard of." He taps his amulet and shudders, "I wonder what lured it here."

"Well it's good I at least sort of know a few of these people," he glances at the door again, "I think we might be trapped in here for a bit." His black, curly hair is dampened with sweat, which trickles along down his white skin into his thick, short beard like a gaggle of sledding children.

Donavera Isemist

(ooc: if my memory serves me well, we're able to contact people like Thal'rin and Edna Silentstep with our brooches, right?)

"I didn't really get a look at the color, just silhouettes, a dark shape distinguishable only because it was denser than the night air." He takes a sip of his tea, "I think we should let the professors handle it, Hin, I'll contact professor Grusk once I have my wits about me. It didn't look like there was anyone else in the courtyard. But if you insist I can send Horatio out to check."

"Zodiac, don't even think about it!" Vera suddenly starts to chastise the familiar bird when she watches him to take flight towards the baby octopus. "You don't want to peck Calo, you say 'Hello' to Calo." Zodiac complies with the advice reluctantly and mimics the sound, "Hello, Calo."

Sierra takes a cup of tea.
To Laurence, "Well yes, it seems that my orientation will likely be delayed for a little."
She accepts Vera's offer and takes a seat next to her. "My apologies, I seem to have forgot to introduce myself. I'm Sierra. I heard that some people at the academy may have met Thul recently. Do you all know anything about this?"

"Well, let me see if it's actually an illusion or not." Vera quickly strides towards the window of the room and snaps her fingers to draw the attention of her familiar. "Zodiac, good boy! You have a wonderful treat waiting for you if you successfully detect the presence of a flying creature... it's outside and flying. Now, fly away, shoo!"
Once Zodiac will fly outside for a quick reconnaissance, Vera will concentrate on manipulating the bond between the duo while trying to use his sense to see the outside of the tower.
