The smells of the market of Baldur's Gate surround you. You approach the port. Outside the port are three ships, one clearly fancier than the others. On its side is written the Lady Jane.
Outside the port stands an older human in uniform, about 55 years in age. What do you do?
Mursager approached the older human, dressed in his traveling clothes, his black sky mask in place, slightly favoring his right foot. He had spent the last several days on the road and had stepped on a rock absent mindedly along the way, now between the travel and the rock, his right foot was barking at him something fierce. He had collected the rock though, he knew a small cantrip that he could use to turn it into a weapon if need be, it seemed fitting that it had hurt him, and that it would then pay him back by hurting anyone who would attempt to accost him.
"Excuse me sir, can you tell me if this is a ship headed to..." he looked at his Journal to make sure he was correct in what he was saying, "...Waterdeep?"
The man says, "Ah yes, Waterdeep. The Lady Jane is departing in a few hours. Do you have a ticket or are you on our list, which is for our most priveleged clientele?"
A dwarf strides towards the port. He's dressed in a fine maroon jerkin with marigold trim over a cream-colored shirt. A large, ornate warhammer hangs across his back. His expression is unnaturally calm, though it's difficult to tell below his thick black beard. Theodoric moves slowly but steadily to the jetty.
“This is The Lady Jane, yes? Bound for Waterdeep?” He turns to the masked man. “And are you perchance associated with this 'Anima'? When this charm wears off, I would have words with you.”
Mursager made a motion as if to say, 'Who me?' before responding, "I haven't cast any charm, I am here to travel to Waterdeep. And to which animal do you refer?"
A handsome half-drow walks toward the port in a leisurely demeanor while eating an apple. Finishing the apple, he tosses the core to the sea and as he comes across the port he stops and looks over the man standing there.
Hail to you good man, are any of these seafaring vessels preparing for a journey to Waterdeep? I was told to be here by a rather perplexing and arrogant squirrel. The name is Qin, Qin'Tar T'Saria, of the house of T'Saria
Qin raises an eyebrow as he talks, looking questioningly at the man and then bows slightly as he announces his name.
"It was that . . ." He pauses, considering how he might appear speaking about what happened. "I was accosted by some being calling itself Anima. It laid a hex on me and compelled me here to this ship. It sounds fantastical, I know, but 'tis the truth." He turns to the uniformed man. "I have no ticket, good sir, but I must board that vessel. I presume my name is on that list? Theodoric Greatshield."
Mursager let out and audible, "Whew..." and then chuckled, "I too was met by a perplexing sight it sounds like you were too Master T'Saria is it? Mine was no squirrel but a Chipmunk, though to some they probably look the same. He was sentient and could speak to me as well as either of you too. Though his tone did leave something to be desired." turning briefly to the uniformed man, "I hope my name is on the list as well, I am Mursager, will you check for me?"
Theodoric grunts to the uniformed man. "I've never met them before, but it seems that way." He turns to the others. "It seems we share a common story. The being that enchanted me was in the guise of a fox, though it turned into a man in strange clothes before commanding me here." He extends a thick hand. "Theodoric Greatshield, of the Ironheart, at your service."
Mursager shakes Theodoric Greatshields fervently. "It is great to meet you! It seems we all share the animal story then, and that we are traveling to Waterdeep, no bout then to meet the same people. Did they give you any hint as to what they needed? My Chipmunk was rather, short, if you'll pardon the joke"
An aarakocra takes a pass around the gathering group before landing. He takes a moment and preens his feathers to be a bit more presentable before advancing. "A sentient chipmunk?" he says to Mursager. "A fox-man?" he says to Theodoric. "Well," he chuckles, "and here I thought my tale of being summoned by a talking bird," he puffs up his feathers for a moment and affects his tone in a humorous manner, "what an absurd notion a talking bird is," he then continues in a normal tone, "would be uniquely strange."
He then turns back to the group, "My bird's details were also quite featherlight unfortunately." He pauses, "Allow me to introduce myself: Brother Screechirk Hireek. What would you names be, good gentlemen?"
"It seems we're being commissioned to retrieve a stolen object for this 'Anima'. Whoever or whatever they are, they seem quite insistent. Powerful too, if the charm they placed upon me is any indication." He bows solemnly. "Forgive me, sirs, I did not catch your names."
As another person gathered Mursager wondered if they had all arrived, or if they should save introductions for a larger crowd. When Brother Screechirk joined them Mursager's eyes grew wide, a humanoid bird species. He'd never met anyone like this, "Good to meet you Brother Screeeechi...Uh sorry, um, Screechurk. Did I say it correctly?" Mursager loved meeting new people. "I am Mursager and I dare not speak for the others but I was told we have Qin'Tar T'Saria, of the house of T'Saria and Theodoric Greatshield, of the Ironheart"
Theodoric blinks in surprise at the Aarakocra's arrival. "Brother Screechkirk, pleased to make your acquaintance. I've read of aarakocra before but have not yet had the pleasure of meeting one." He places a hand on his chest and bows. "As for what this quest entails, you know as much as I. The fiend was quite cagey about this endeavor. Were the three of you bewitched as well?"
Qin immediatly addresses the other people obviously there to take this voyage. Good day gentlemen. I am Qin'Tar T'Saria of the house of T'Saria. Warlock extraordinaire
Qin takes a deep bow - "Pleased to meet you all"
He then continues The squirrel I fed didn't divulge any information of note except that I'm invited to a ball in Waterdeep. I was bored so I thought to myself, why not. I haven't been to a decent ball in years and fear my dancing feet might be getting rusty. But as well as all that, I am also curious about how these supposed "sealegs" are where I am concerned. I've yet to discover the sensation of a voyage upon the sea as I've never had the opportunity nor the longing to before.
Qin casts his eyes around the group
Have any of you had the pleasure or displeasure of this type of transportation before ?
At the mention of a ball by the avian fellow a nearby lithe woman with shoulder length white hair and pale green eyes starts obviously paying attention to the group. After a moment she strides over to the gathering as the elven man finishes saying something about a squirrel. She’s wearing well-made but functional travel clothes and a substantial number of bracelets and anklets gently clink as she walks over. “Have you all been commissioned to perform at the ball as well?” She looks over the group, giving a winning smile to the elegant Half-Drow before doing her best to hide a look of mild confusion as her eyes travel down the line before settling on the road weary Human. “Perhaps as… jugglers?”

A ship horn blows from the Lady Jane. A voice calls out, "The Lady Jane will depart soon." Is there anything any of you want to do before then?
