Here is the thread for out of character (OOC) discussion. Tactical considerations, out of character questions, plans, and general chitchat should go here. Rolls will typically go in the in character (IC) thread along with the associated actions, but occasionally rolls will occur OOC here. Please familiarize yourselves with the forum dice roller instructions found here. Please also read the FAQ which outlines the bracket system. Which will allow you to develop dynamic posts. Guys I messed up my post. Going to try and post it here with all the brackets showing to get some feedback. It should be placed below.
I needed to do a compound action where my wild surge could have had an effect on my attacks. My course of action was to post the wild surge, then edit the post once I saw the roll, then add the attacks. After doing this, and editing once more because I forgot the ending spoiler bracket, I realized that it was re-rolling everything every time I edited.
I am able to roll back my post to see what my previous rolls were, but this is broken and I'm getting an error when I try. The only thing I remember from the post is that my wild surge role was 1, thus the IC text.
Dopp stows his viol and charges the closest Hobgoblin he sees. He quickly climbs the escarpment, his eyes burning a greyish blue hue. He lets out a low guttural rumble as a dark shadowy vine-like mist forms around his arms and chest. he draws his battle axe, and cleaves his prey twice.
[spoiler] OOC: Dopp moves his full 35 feet to make it to the nearest Eastern Hobgoblin (second from top). He uses his bonus action to [Tooltip Not Found] with Wild Surge. He then strikes the Hobgoblin twice.
Wild Surge : [roll]1d8[/roll]
Attack 1: [roll]1d20+5[/roll], Damage: [roll]1d10+2[/roll] (2-handed)
Attack 2: [roll]1d20+5[/roll], Damage: [roll]1d10+2[/roll] (2-handed)
Temporary Hitpoints: [roll]1d12[/roll]
The three Hobgoblins on the Eastern side must succeed a Constitution Saving Throw or suffer 1d12 necrotic damage.[/spoiler]
Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - examples being Adult Black Dragon and dash. To create tooltips in this way as these, use the appropriate [tag][/tag] around the desired subject.
Example: [ magicitem]sunblade[/ magicitem] (Without spaces within the [ ] brackets.)
my Janky resolution to the above problem: Compounding effects in a single round that can’t be resolved with a basic macro roll as described in the faq will need to be double posted. Ex: wild surge is rolled in one post. The attack is rolled in a second.
rolling, then editing the post in any way re-rolls the initial rolls and flags the post for cheating.
also, there’s not a tooltip for rage as far as I can tell. It’s definitely not an ‘action’ when bracketed.
I'm not sure Dopp can fire off that effect again. As per the rules: ". When you enter your rage, roll on the Wild Magic table to determine the magical effect produced." Emphasis mine. Moreover, there are several effects that explicitly state that they persist throughout the rage or can be used again as a bonus action.
I should be able to finish off this particular hell hound by the next turn if anyone else wants to engage the other. They seem like the two biggest threats at the moment. Alternatively, if someone wants to finish this one off now, I could engage the second one next turn.
I think the double short sword guy with a script may be the biggest threat. Still agree with killing the hellhounds first, though. We need to blast these ****ers. I am going to shoot a concentration spell and shape change and go ham on something. Probably finish off the one in front of me and then move on from there. We should designate someone to take care of smaller targets and I feel like a ranged attack specialist may be just the guy for it. I will likely go toe-to-toe with the short sword guy.
Depending on what you guys think, I'm down to either cast heat metal, turn into a bear and go one on one, or cast spike growth, turn into a raptor and go after the hobgoblins.
i agree someone should take care of smaller targets, but my guy is kind of built to do a lot of damage to tankier targets bc of his Colossus Slayer ability
I am messing you guys up pretty badly. Periheed, Dopp, and Farryn are pretty messed up. I'm genuinely surprised, this was supposed to be a warm up encounter.

I've got $10 that says B stands for bugbear.
I have no idea what to suggest regarding tactics. Picking them off from range is a viable option, but I worry about their positioning relative to us.
Anakin is ****ed with regard to that.
I have some CC possibilities, and can always shift for damage.
I agree ranged seems good to start. I can handle some melee if it comes to it.

Don't use [spoiler], use the spoiler tag functionality in the rich text editor. Some helpful links:

Guys, I’m gonna stay put and keep swinging on this one. I think I’m going to grab 5-6 of them with the shadowy tendrils this turn.

Periheed would get another saving throw due to Halfling Luck. Rolling here: 18
Periheed takes half the damage indicated. Restoring HP to him now. He still needs to roll for the Primal Savagery attack.

That settles it. You start taking down the main baddie and hounds, I'll start running through the mooks with some CC on the table.
Attack: 3 Damage: 7
Attack: 7 Damage: 6
Just a heads up - no need for spoilers in OOC, really, but I encourage using them to separate rolls and metagame type stuff in the IC thread.
