Plagued by hushed whispers of things that go bump in the night, the picturesque mountain town of Elin has been experiencing nonstop heavy fog for the past few months. This fog used to be located just near the town, but it started to creep, seeping through the rotting aspen logs and tall fir trees deep in the Briny Mountains. This wouldn’t be out of the ordinary if it went away once in a while. On top of the almost opaque air, there have been reports of something strange in the mountains! The mayor has hired you (the party) to find out who’s behind the fog and the visions of oddities being reported by the townsfolk in increasing numbers every day, and to put a stop to it.

Name: Sopa Race: Tortle Class/Subclass: Order Of Scribes wizard Background: Traveling Scholar Backstory:
Sopa was raised by the sea in the shadow of a great library. His parents were retired explorers living out the last of their days lounging on the near by shore. Unlike most tortles, Sopa enjoyed spending hours amonst the stacks and scrolls of the Candlekeep library. He spent his formative years reading books and listening to lectures from visiting scholars. True to tortle physiology, having lived a full life, Sopa's parents peacfully passed on just as Sopa entered his twenties. Their passing ignited a passion for "the other side" in the young tortle. He began to study the arcane and macabre learning magic and manipulation of the weave in the process. He began to compile his own research into the dead and other areas of unnatural life.
For a second time tortle genetics affected Sopa's life. A desire to be out beyond the walls had started to brew with in the tortle. Tales from his parents exploits combined with the nature of his own studies propelled him to venture from the walls of Candlekeep to perform his own research.
Not much of a fighter, Sopa surrounded himself with a group of capable individuals who investigate and eradicate the un-natural. Sopa's extensive studies offer the group an advantage in terms of learning strengths and weaknesses of the creatures they face. His knowledge often proves invaluable when it comes to gleaning the clues required for solving the puzzles that will vanquish their current foe.
One of the mighty Battista soldiers that serve within the outskirts of Eldin, Novena herself is also the queen to a noble family whose members fight for the greater good, yet sparing a thought for the common people. Her special ability to manifest a duplicate of herself during battle was widely sought for amongst her royal bloodline, since no other fighters other than her deceased great grandfather could have developed this ability. This trait, combined with her experience as a fierce commander was enough to earn her the nickname 'The Ninth Bastion', a play on her full name.
Though her Battista bloodline was well renowned for being one of the strongest forces in the kingdom, they weren't always at their peak strength all the time. Whilst the royal armies, including Novena's own, struggled to deal with how thick the fog was; The subsequent battles proved to be extremely challenging since their visions were obscured and the losses became really severe. With nearly all of her subjects and forces crippled and the idea that their reputation would be lost throughout the city, Novena had to do something about the obscure clouds intercepting the city; As she was approached by the mayor in person from her royal throne to help solve the situation, Novena asks what would become of her noble heritage if she were to accept this dangerous mission... to which the mayor replied: "Well, you highness, that would depend on the decisions you choose to execute, ain't it?"

Name: Lucretia Lovelace Race: Dhampir (I’m open to changing this if it doesn’t fit with the lore - I know some DM’s don’t like lineages)
Class/Subclass: Sorcerer (Divine Soul)
Background: Custom
Backstory:
Lucretia's mother was a powerful and well-known human sorceress who had long desired to bear a child, but was unable to conceive through natural means. Desperate to have a child of her own, she made a deal with a powerful demon to give her a child in exchange for her powers. The demon agreed to the deal and Lucretia's mother soon became pregnant. However, as the child grew within her, it became clear that something was not right. Her mother became ill, and her body was wracked with pain as the child within her continued to grow. When it was time for Lucretia to be born, it was an agonizing and traumatic experience for both mother and child. Due to the malicious power behind her conception, Lucretia was born a dhampir, with vampiric blood running through her veins. From a young age, she was able to tap into her connection to the infernal, using her powers to influence those around her and manipulate the elements, though this was never something she felt comfortable doing, soft-hearted as she was. Despite these powers, her life was never easy. She was shunned by the other children in her village, who feared her strange powers and her vampiric nature. Her mother, consumed by regret over the deal she had made, became distant, cold and often cruel towards her, blaming her for the loss of her powers, and proclaiming that she was not the "perfect" child she had been promised. Still, this did not stop her mother from pushing her abilities to the limit, trying to make up for the loss of her own power as she "trained" Lucretia in an attempt to make her a suitable heiress. As she grew older, Lucretia's powers continued to grow, but so did her connection to the divine. She began to experience visions and dreams that showed her a different path, one that was not bound by her infernal heritage. Yet her mother continued to push her towards the fire and darkness of the fiend she called her "father," trying to corrupt Lucretia so that she may, in her mother's words, "finally unlock her true potential." For many years, she struggled to reconcile these conflicting aspects of herself, torn between the power of the infernal and the purity of the divine. Eventually, it all became too much. Lucretia could no longer bear to live at war with herself, could no longer stand her mother's abuse. And so, in the middle of the night, she packed a bag and fled. Now, Lucretia travels the land, seeking to understand the true nature of her powers and to find her place in the world while constantly running from her mother, who she knows will be searching for her. She is haunted by the knowledge that her mother sacrificed her own powers to bring her into the world, and that in running away she effectively betrayed her own blood. Every day, she cannot help but wonder if her powers are worth the price that she and her mother paid for them

Name: Alwin of the Starwood Race: Water Genasi Class/Subclass: Oath of the Ancients Paladin Background: Outlander Backstory:
Alwin was a young teen when his tribe traveled through the Starwood for the first time. After setting camp for the night, Alwin stepped outside the perimeter of camp, and never returned. Even an experienced nomad such as Alwin was easily capable of getting lost in the dense vegetation of the Starwood. Upon accepting the fact he needed to sleep and wouldn't find the camp in the pitch dark, he climbed into a partially burned tree to sleep.
He woke to the feeling of a thud and shifting, noticing the tree he is currently attached to is moving throughout the forest. Accepting by now he's miles away and likely his tribe has already packed up and left, Alwin continued to travel with the treant, Oakburn. The two spent many years traveling together through the Starwood; Alwin meeting many other treants, and learning their ways.
Learning that the burns Oakburn has are magical in some sort, Alwin has decided it's time to leave the Starwood in an attempt to figure out how to heal his magical burns.

That's a score of 80, which ain't bad, honestly. If you choose to play a human, all those 13's become 14's. (14,14,17,14,13,14). That's not a bad spread. At level 4, you could make that 17 an 18 and that 13 another 14. Not. Too. Shabby.
