Far to the north, the thriving mining town of Iceville survives long, cold and dark winters. When the nights are longest, the people of Iceville light up the darkness with candles, songs and the exchange of gifts during Kringlefest. The celebration is named after the mysterious Kringle, who brought light after many dark days to Iceville, many winters ago. But Kringle is most loved for giving every child in town a gift that he made in his magical workshop. It is believed by many that on the night of Kringlefest, he travels into town on a red sleigh full of presents, drawn by eight flying reindeer. Kringle silently enters each house without ever being seen by children or their parents. In exchange for the gifts, the children leave treats for Kringle, which are always gone when they awaken to find their gift.

But this year, an ancient enemy has returned, enslaving Kringle and his helpers, and forcing them to build an army of toys. The danger, however, extends far beyond the destruction of the joyous Kringlefest. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, the entire town of Iceville faces the imminent threat of being forever shrouded into darkness.

With the upcoming holidays, I thought why not run a one-shot here on the forums if there is interest. I’ve chosen the Darkest Night. This is designed to be fun and easy-going, and the adventure will be a mixture of role-play, combat and some exploration. 

Characters start at level 1. 

All levels of experience are welcome. You can use anything available to you in the character builder. If it is more exotic, I will rely on you knowing what you can and can’t do with your character :P

Character Name: Meifinas Sunshadow

Race: Human

Class: Bard

Backstory: Meifinas grew up wanting to follow in his mother's footsteps, he had heard stories that she was a world renowned story teller and he strived to be just like her. When he decided to leave town he left a note to his father telling him that he was heading out to go on his first adventure. He wasn't sure when he'd return but he hoped to one day return home and share the stories of his adventures with his father and friends just like his mother had.

How did they find themselves in Iceville?: He found his way to Iceville by chance, but when he arrived there he remembered hearing stories about it from his mother before her 'disappearance'.

How much experience do you have with DnD and the play-by-post setting?: I have about 8 years of experience playing DnD and a year and a half of experience with doing it via play-by-post.

How did they arrive in Iceville? Like all barbarians, he was traveling the north in betyween jobs, and happen to arrive in Iceville for supplies, a tavern and ale.

D&D / PbP experience: D&D-since the very beginning, even have the original small rule books (so yes, I am that old). PbP-a few years now, mostly as a DM, but always looking to be a player for a change

Backstory: Nysbith Krimtel, How does someone describe a 6'8 Mammoth a beast. Simple: Gentle. Even When Nysbith was a child he was kind to all those smaller then himself. Even when his parents died he was kind to the people who forsaken him to this life. Sadly, with no parents and no one to look after him and his brother and sister. Nysbith learned not as much as many others did. Nysbith did not care. His only goal was to help the small ones. With his skin of brass and righteous spirit he was accepted into a monastery that had helped him and his siblings. Nysbith has now left his old home in search of people for him to help much like how they helped him. This adventure has lead him to Iceville Nysbith is sure he will find people to help here, and if not? Well, Nysbith is sure to find friends, ale, and food in such a place.

also is this going to be a long term campaign? if it is, i would like to know the times.

Im currently in school still so i do have restrictions.

 In the first post, she said it would be a one-shot.

Also, I was wondering if we could start at level 3 for this? If not, that’s ok.

Hello! This is going to be a short, one-shot adventure, we will be playing it here on the forums as play-by-post, so everyone can post on their own time. If that sounds good to you, feel free to submit your character, but bear in mind that we already have a bard in the group, so perhaps a ranger might be better.

Character name: Havel

Race: Goliath

Class: Fighter

Backstory: Havel was trained as a soldier for his people though his heart was not in it as his passions lie in stonework and sculpting. Building a stone hovel gives him more satisfaction than winning victory in battle though he keeps his training regimen as working with stone is a heavy business. 

How did they find themselves in Iceville? Havel shook off the title of soldier and now is a stone mason and he figures a mining town can use a person well versed in stonework. Traveling to somewhere new with a possible way to earn coin seems just what Havel needed. 

How much experience do you have with DnD and the play-by-post setting? Over 3 years and most of it in PbP.
