Recruiting for Deathworld: Dragon of Icespire Peak

In Deathworld, PCs whose players can’t keep up die. When that happens, the first person on the waitlist, “previously present but unnoticed,” will take their place. The surviving PCs will suspend disbelief and accept this mechanism without question. Play continues without pause.

This will be a light-hearted, RP-heavy game in which little or no respect is paid to the recently deceased. Because let’s face it...

...this is Deathworld, where an untimely death is your own fault. :)

"Okay, you've got my attention. Tell me more..."

THE HOOK

• The characters have made their way to Phandalin. The settlement is home to farmers, woodcutters, fur traders, and prospectors drawn by stories of gold and platinum in the foothills of the Sword Mountains. The arrival of a white dragon threatens to destroy all that they’ve worked to build. Can the characters help out without falling prey to the dragon?

COMMITMENT

• Posting will be every day or two.
• If you lag a full day behind my post, I will bot you.
• If I must bot you three times in a row, the third post will detail your character's vivid and horrible death. That’s Deathworld for you.

YOUR POSTS

• Your posts should follow the three-sentence format. Sentence 1, acknowledge what just happened. Sentence 2, RP. Sentence 3, post your action.
• Your post may be longer than three sentences, and indeed, your creativity and interesting writing is what makes PbP enjoyable to me.
• Brief, one-sentence posts should be reserved for asking clarifying questions or when specifically requested by me (EXAMPLE: “Please make a STR save at advantage.”).
• Otherwise, if you post a brief one-sentence post three times in a row, your character will die a vivid and horrible death. That’s Deathworld for you. 
• Courtesy is expected. I will not elaborate. But guess what happens to your character if you are discourteous? Yes. A vivid and horrible death awaits. 

CAVEATS

• Some of you will always Private Message (PM) the DM when you’re going to miss a couple of days, which will excuse you from AVAHD.
• The DM is of course immune from AVAHD. 

THE BASICS

• This PbP will take place here on DNDB's PbP forum.
• First Level Characters.
• PHB & Mordenkainen races & classes.
• Ability Scores will be Standard Array or Point Buy, not rolled.
• I will accept the first 5 or 6 applicants who make an impression. The group may be overly large to start, but I’m not worried...this is Deathworld, after all.
• Additional applicants will be waitlisted and invited to keep tabs on the campaign for quick entry if needed.

TO APPLY

• PM me with subject heading, “Icespire.” In your PM, tell me a bit about your favourite TTRP experience or a terrific fantasy book or short story you’ve recently read and would recommend.
• Don’t send a character.
• Post on this thread that you have submitted your application.
• I will close recruitment and make decisions within one week.
