“OK, I think we rested long enough, what do you all say? Let’s go finish clearing this place out! We have two doors and a set of stairs. How about we hit the closet door, where we entered? Let’s stick together though, no wandering away, that last one was too close.”
Kneecap gets to his feet, cracks his knuckles on his Warhammer and says, “You up for this lass?” he asks as he looks over at Aria.
Ariagives a stern look to Kneecap as she straightens up and gives a firm nod. "mhmm". and quickly glances over to Dorn, who gives her a look, and climbs back to his feet. "Very well. deeper into the temple... if we are all willing." He will quickly look at Callim and Volneer for confirmation.
During the short rest, Volneer had been looking down at his hands. As he looked around, he whispered, "I feel... different. It's like my magic has somehow... changed. It's like there's a- a- well... of magic... that's different than usual." He continues mumbling, giving no indication that he heard Dorn's question. He casts mage hand and chill touch a couple of times, not targeting anything in particular, but seeming confused and, a little... worried?
OOC: Volneer will use two sorcery points to regain a first-level spell slot.
As the adventurers return to the sight of the cave-in, they once again take a look around, finding whole trees tumbled into this rounded room spanning about 30 feet in diameter. Stone statues show their age wrapping around the dome as two paths which have already been explored are visible. The final path in this room is guarded by fallen wilderness, but as you approach, you see a solid 10-foot stone double-door with what seems like aged etchings that are difficult to see given the minimal light, weathering of the stone, and crawling moss. Perhaps there is more to this area than you once thought.
As you approach the stone doors, you meet them closed. Moss crawls into the cracks and crevasses of these doors, and there are no signs of a handle or pull. 4 separate and distinct symbols are carved into the doors: on the left door, a rhombus and two parallel lines with a slanted connecting piece (Almost like a misshapen H). On the right side, an X shape, and a sphere. Kneecap, you can assume that these are slots, and the artifacts that go into these carvings may be the answer to opening these large doors. Above and below these symbols are lesser carvings depicting small and practically unidentifiable drawings. You don't otherwise notice any traps or mechanisms.
Calim, who has been following the group back to the original chamber, does a quick scan for any items that might fit into the slots that Kneecap is exploring (giving particular attention to the statues). He does so while adjusting his armor slightly, somewhat distracted from his task.
Investigation - 4 (rolled 2+2)
"Perhaps the keys to enter that chamber are either strewn around this room. Or, they are held by someone deeper in this foul place?"
Volneer shakes himself out of whatever trance he was in. He darts forward to examine the stone wall, looking for traces of magic he knew probably weren't there, but hoping to draw attention away from the fact that he was scared of his own magic.

As the party further investigates the room and the peculiar stone entrance, it seems there's nothing else to be found. At least, no more that you have found.
Volneer looks back at him and says, "A door that leads nowhere but has magical runes that activate portals through, or to, the other planes of existence."

Dorn stands back and looks at the door: "I am not aware of this term, Ka door. Nor am I familiar with the mechanisms of this stone door. Aria, what do you make of this?" Aria replies, "It does look like you could put something in each of these holes... I think Kneecap is right, maybe we can find these artifacts somewhere" And Aria begins somewhat mindlessly searching the sunken room for the artifacts that could fit in the holes, picking up stones, searching the statues, all without avail.

Kneecap is going to investigate the door, checking for locks, traps, markings, etc., and listening to it if it looks safe to.

PS, Volneer followed the group, but he’s still staring off into the distance, and is disconnected from reality.

Kneecap will give Volneer Guidance just in case, and stand next to the door, hammer in hand.
OOC: You have guidance for one minute.
The stone doors stand resilient, and unmoving. as sturdy as the cavern walls themselves it seems.
“Let’s go check out the door all the way to the south, where we first fought the cultists. Perhaps we’ll find something down there to open this door!”
After attempting to open the door, Volneer steps back and says, "Perhaps it's a Ka door. It may open a portal. We must be careful."
