"Yea, let's stick together," Britari agrees with Slag. "Puppet show for skeletons and autopsy," she muses. As long as nobody seems to show any interest in the group, she moves along. "I think the end of the hall is more likely a better destination." Plus, those directions don't immediately appear to have any other exits. Once down to the end of the hall she would pear left and right once again.
"Haha! I've seen far stranger things that Morte over there."Renjin laughs at the woman's comment as he walks down the hall. "Say, what is your name little missy? You never did tell us...and I'm sure you heard all of ours haha."
Renjin peeks through the window to look at the puppet show for a while. Interesting, very interesting. "Oh poison isn't that bad. Though it is true that this fragile, 'fleshy body' doesn't seem to take well to being stabbed or jabbed, or sliced or diced. It's quite a pain." He drops down and nods to Britari, "Yep, as much as I'd like to crash one or both of these parties I want to see the city more. To the end of the hall we go!"
Despite seeming to agree with Slag's logic, he still does not wait for the iron man before marching onward. If there's a door at the end of the hall, he will push it open without hesitating. If there are two doors, he'll take the right path...because everyone knows the right path is never the left.
Slag would pause for a moment as he contemplated asking for directions by shouting into the various rooms. Seeing his new found companions push forward, Slag quickly forgets the idea and moves to stay close to the group. He was literally build to protect others, and so at least for now he would try his best to ensure we all made it out of here without dying.... again.
The heavy warforged stomps along with no concern for stealth as they made their way down the hall.
Moving on for the moment, the short hallway ends in a sort of T-intersection, splitting left and right each down for 30-40ft or so. There is another small hallway in front of you as well though. An ashy broom and dustpan lean against the wall outside a narrow corridor with an iron, windowed door. Two levers—a blue lever in the upward position and a red lever turned downward—are set into the walls adjacent to the door. An identical door stands closed at the end of the passageway.
Tilting his head, Renjin looks at the two levers and down the narrow hallway at the door on the other side. Before anyone can object, he flips the red lever upward.
"Maybe we should have asked for directions.." The warforged says as his eyes look at the distance pan and the levers. "I feel like this could be some sort of cremation chamber... and of we are not careful, you three will end up as piles of ash in that dust pan." Slag says while pointing his Warhammer towards the broom and pan.
"Didn't you hear the floating skull? Folks down here don't like our kind apparently." Renjin laughs, "They'd probably attack us before answering anything we ask."
Tilting his head, Renjin looks at the two levers and down the narrow hallway at the door on the other side. Before anyone can object, he flips the red lever upward.
"Well..." Britari starts as they get to the intersection. "I think I did ask for directions!" She peers down the long hall before them, trying to get an idea of what is down there. "All that skull said was keep walking." (Perception: 20)
Following the group onwards, Renjin turns and asks her name. Being a bit wary of her strange companions, she seems at first a little hesitant to answer, but after some contemplation she replies with "Esta. You can call me Esta."
Peering towards each room, it is clear Esta is not liking the situation at all. Her anxious feelings towards the place are second only to her keen idea of "getting the hell out of there". Being a little freaked out, she moves closer with the group to ensure she stays within range. As they stop at the hallway with levers, she sees Renjin carelessly pull at the red handle, and seeing it not budge she lets out a sigh of relief.
"That was a bit reckless Renjin, you should at least check what it could be connected to beforehand. There isn't need to be so brash!" Esta starts to slink towards the lever to take a closer examination, before realizing that Britari has continued walking down the hall. Esta takes note, and waits in anticipation to see if something happens with Britari. Anyone within earshot will hear Esta whisper "I got a bad feeling about this, but it makes trap checking much easier."
OOC: Not sure why the pictures seem to disappear on me. Each of the pictures I have been able to see for a short time but then when I come back to the thread later, they are gone.
"I meant we could have asked the staff performing the autopsy." Slag replies to Britari
When Renjin flips the red switch, The warforged raises his shield slightly as though expecting jets of flame to erupt from the walls. When it appears to stick however, he gently lowers it once more. "I want to leave this facility as much as you all... but I think we should use a little more caution." Slag grumbles with a glare from the warforged's emotionless face.
"Please do not touch the other lever until I have checked the far door. One of you stay near the switches in case the door closes behind me and I start getting torched in this furnace.... I would assume Red means fire and Blue means no fire... so if the door closes... maybe try the blue switch" Slag asks as he stomps through the narrow hallway and checks to see if the far door is unlocked. If it is, he will walk though the doorway before motioning his companions to follow behind him.
I am going to add a perception check to spot any trip wires or anything that could cause me to get cooked. I would like to hold my action to dash out of the hallway back into the previous room if I see anyone at the door or spot any tripwires!
Britari and Slag head into the small hallway, not seeing any signs of traps or tripwires, just an ashy cramped hallway. As they get down toward the far door, a human zombie wearing a nametag reading "Maurice" on it appears in the small window on the door. He makes a startled expression (as much as a zombie can anyway) and the others outside the hallway watch as the blue handle suddenly shifts...and the doors slam closed. Britari and Slag can see the zombie moving his hand to the other lever...
Meanwhile, back in the previous hallway, a heavy shuffle and scrape is heard and behind you the doctor (if that) that was working on the corpse is now standing in the hallway staring at the other two, alongside the corpse, with it's chest still exposed, giving full view to it's decaying, disgusting innards. The mortician gives a raspy scream, "Fleshies!" And from down the hall you hear a faint chuckle from Morte.
(Combat initiated! I will roll initiative for everyone from their character sheet. You may post your actions and such for the round and I will adjudicate each in turn order. If you wish to wait for a previous person to post that's fine, but you're welcome to go ahead with what you want to do too.)
Herald of Dust (mortician)

The creepy Herald waves his hand and attempts to surround himself with magical energy. (casting Mage Armor)
Slag's eyes would dim as he sees the zombie approach the door. "NO NO NO DON"T!" The warforged shouts towards the zombie before racing back to the now shut door. The hulking warforged would quickly drop his hammer and draw his crowbar before attempting to pry open the door. "Renjin! Esta! Open the door before they engage the burners!" Slag shouts before quickly turning his head to look at Britari. "I'll do what I can to get us out of here. Can you keep the zombie from pulling the lever?" Slag asks as he struggles to force open the door.
Action - Try to pry open the door to escape the hallway with his crowbar 14
Bonus action - I attempt to Rally Britari and grant her bonus HP equal to 2
It all happens so fast. Something appears to startle the 2 in the hallway ahead and Esta watches as the door slams shut. "Damn it guys, what have you..."Esta exclaims before being startled by the noise behind. Spinning on her feet, hand on her blade, she sees the horrifying visage before her eyes. Eeeeeek, zombies! Please don't let them touch me!she thinks to herself.
"Shit, stay back foul creatures!" and Esta will pull out her shortbow, taking aim at the half-exposed corpse and firing!
To hit: 13 DMG: 4 Piercing
In the same motion, Esta will step towards the shifted lever and attempt to pull at it, using her Fast Hands feature.
"Hmm. I will see what I can do," Britari says. Staring at Maurice the zombie, she marks him. (Venemous Mark feature.)
She then turns her attention to the lever that the zombie just moved. She casts Mage Hand to appear at the lever he just moved. She then has it grasp it and move it back.
If the door opens, she will quickly look to see what is beyond. Depending on what she sees, she will quickly pass through.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
ooc: I am amending my previous turn.
IF the door is opened by one of his companions flipping the switches prior to his turn in the initiative order, Slag would hoist his hammer and shield high before charging towards the Flesh golem and swinging hard with his hammer.
action Attack: 18 Damage: 6 +1 for monouver damage and if it hits it will push the golem back 10ft and distract the creature as well, allowing the next attack against it before my next turn to have advantage.
Maneuver: Distracting Strike
When you hit a creature with an attack roll, you can expend one Superiority Die and add the die to the attack’s damage roll. The next attack roll against the target by another attacker has Advantage if it’s made before the start of your next turn.
Push (Warhammer)
Push. If you hit a creature with Warhammer, you can push the creature up to 10 ft. straight away from you if it’s Large or smaller.
"Esta, Esta...Hmmm nice, short, and fun to say. I like it." Renjin replies to Esta from up ahead, giving her a thumbs up as he walks away.
He frowns when the red lever doesn't budge. Man, he really wanted to see what it did. He tilts his head to Esta, and then glances at Slag. "Eh," He shrugs, "Being Cautious is boring."He grins, then watches Britari continue down the hall. At least she seems brave enough. Hah! Going strait in this place seems even more reckless than just pulling the lever before anyone went in, and yet no one is criticizing her. He chuckles, mortals are so strange.
Suddenly the door slams shut, Renjin's eyes immediately catch the movement of the blue lever. Heh, he figured that's what it would do. Then he notes the two creatures. "Oh aren't you two ugly." He laughs, and suddenly the black-bladed sword on his hip vanishes in a puff of black mist, then reforms in his right hand. He points the sword at the Herald, "See Slag, I told you they wouldn't like to talk to us...do you still want me to ask for directions?" He grins, now directing his words back at the hideous creatures. "You know...You both really are eyesores, but I don't like being called a 'fleshy'." His emerald eyes flash as he places a curse on the Herald. (Bonus action hexblade's curse) Then his sword ignites with crackling green energy that can't seem to decide if it wants to look like electricity or flames dancing along the blade. "Oh this will be fun!" The energy, surges and launches off the blade, spiraling towards the Herald.
To hit: 10 (I doubt this hits but I'll roll damage anyways lol)
Damage: 12+2 from curse so 14
