Lumiere will clip the lantern back to her belt. "It seems we have found a way into this place. Keep your wits about you, and let the light guide your way."
She then looks to the chest protruding from the wall. "Perhaps the contents are to lead forward?" She suggests. "Maybe if one can open it from a distance, in case of traps."
Satisfied that nothing is going to jump out at them from the entrance, Ubogri puts his bow and arrow away. He follows the other three inside, staying about 80 feet behind the leader.

Falmo starts checking the floor for traps and he immediately recognizes the edge of a pit lid immediately after the chest. Instead of going that far he stops at the chest to observe it better. He notices that it is hinged on the bottom so as to allow the lid to swing down if a catch on the top is pressed. But the chest looks suspicious, the catch seems to activate some sort of mechanism that is not connected to the lid.
He tries to disarm the trap but the mechanism is trickier than expected.
Falmo roll me a dexterity check.

You slide your tools in the chest and fiddle with them, the tools activate a 3-inch long needle that snaps out of the catch. But you were prepared for that and you manage to avoid it. With great surprise, after you managed to open the chest, you find it empty.

"Did you find anything of use?" Lumiere asks, holding her lantern up so they can look inside."Perhaps it has a concealed bottom, that is commonplace in chests."

You both look inside and, as expected, you find a concealed bottom. You take out the fake panel and find a small lever that protrudes vertically from the bottom.

"Well perhaps this lever will continue our path." Lumiere suggests. "If we pull such a thing, perhaps it will show us the way."
She does take a few steps to the side, keeping the light up for Falmo as to give him space, and just in case something happens where Falmo is.
DirtyDogP: Underdark isn't the same as underground but i'll let you change it if you want.
Pokeapaladdy: Not sure if I was clear enough with my descriptions but the corridor continues as well, disappearing in the dark ahead of you. The chest was just on the wall.

"Idiot," Ubogri spits. "If you want to press that lever, be sure to give me a few moments to leave the tomb first." He glares at the human. "Have you never been in a tomb before? If you're going to be making suggestions like that, we might as well slit your throat right here before you get us all killed."

Lumiere looks calmly to Ubogri. "It is simply the art of it being concealed that means it may light the path. There is no guarantee either way until it is pulled. Regardless, we can choose to ignore such a device and perhaps continue onwards instead. Falmo mentioned a pit trap, so keep a wary eye out in case we head in that direction."

What terrain type is the tomb?
Falmo will check the chest and floor for traps (from a distance). Perception: 21
If the chest is clear, he will open it. If the chest is trapped or locked, he will attempt to use his Thieves' Tools: 16
After this, he will fade into the shadows: 31
Thieves' tools are Dex + 2x prof right? (I have expertise) Also, does Reliable Talent apply to them? If so, the 16 is actually a 25.

I would like to see if I can open the bottom of the chest without setting off the catch (with Thieves’ Tools). 27 ( or 25)Falmo will turn to his companions: “There’s a pit right after the chest, watch your step.”
If I can’t use the Thieves’ Tools like that, I will attempt to find the mechanism the catch activates: 20 or 17
Didn't notice your edit. If the Dex check is Thieves' Tools, there's one above. If it's just base Dex: 13
And I've already rolled two 1s . . .

So, did the bottom of the chest open? I’m kind of confused . . .

Check this image. The lowermost lid did slide down along with the chest allowing you to open it.
The wording in the adventure is confusing as well , but it's just for flavour. Treat it as a normal chest.
Falmo will examine the contents of the chest. Perception if needed: 19 or 17

I wouldn't be so lucky as to have you say that "underground" is the same as underdark would I?

Falmo is very wary of convenient levers . . .

So you actually continue down the corridor?
