Whether you be a Waterdavian or a traveling adventurer there seems to be something stirring within Waterdeep of late. Perhaps its the faint rumbling of unease that comes from the various factions within the city, the infighting that seems to be spilling out into the streets a bit more often than normal, or maybe it's just the air. Whatever the reason something has begun, an itch if you will, a hint of something maybe fun, maybe dangerous, maybe both? Whatever it is it is here, and it is waiting for just the right group to come and make themselves known.
As DM I'm looking for a group of roughly 4-5 people, 3 at the least, to take part in the Dragon Heist in Waterdeep campaign. All character races and classes are accepted that are available on the site here. Feel free to send me a message with your proposed character for the campaign, a bit of their backstory (so I know what I can perhaps play with) and if they are native to Waterdeep or a traveling adventurer. Abilities are done through 4d6*7, drop lowest dice and lowest score. As soon as all players are in place, game will start. Request that players post at least three times a week. Any questions send me a message and ask.

Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
Any good place to get to know a city is the local tavern. Every story and tale begins in one, every adventure, and every misadventure in some way, form, or manner inevitably features a tavern of some sort. It is the place and the home of gossip, work, and the pulse of the city. In Waterdeep this is no different except for one major piece of importance: the place to be for any going adventurer, for any bit of gossip or news, is the Yawning Portal. Waterdavian natives know this place for the tall tales Durnan tends to spin, decent Shadowdark ale, and a raucous place to party if need be. Today is no exception.
As each of you enters into the Yawning Portal it is after a weary day of travel, work, or just to relax. Whatever the reason the Yawning Portal has it all and Durnan stands behind the bar as he takes various orders from the Portal's regulars. The place is loud, full of good cheer and a few not-so-good cheer as people drink, relax, and yell back and forth to one another. Those of you that are from the area, have been to Waterdeep before for work or pleasure, have come to the Portal in the past and Durnan surely recognizes you as he recognizes his other patrons.
Each of you are able to settle down and order a pint to drink and for a time the day seems fairly normal for a night at the Yawning Portal. As you each relax, drinks in hand, you are able to take in the feel of the room. In one corner there is gambling, dice, cards--in others drinking games seem to be afoot. The Portal is as packed as ever, full of adventuring types in break and the cities regulars out for a decent drink and a bit of fun. The time passes and a bard several tables over begins to pick up some sort of off-key tune. Another group of adventurer's, drunk of their asses, are singing bawdy songs, sloshing their drinks about as they crowd one another and laugh. Their recent take, apparently, has been a good one.
As you have finally settled into the noise and into the flow of the Portal there comes a shout: "Ya pig! Like killin' me mates, does ya?" The yell is loudly heard above the din and noise of the Portal, enough to grab attention of near every patron as you see a seven-foot-tall half-orc hit with a wild, swinging punch from a human man with a shaved head covered in eye-shaped tattoos. Behind him stands four others, ready to jump into the fray--and with a roar and the crack of her knuckles the half-orc jumps at the tattooed figure and a bar brawl sudden descends into madness from there as the regulars crowd about with cheers and yells of: "Fight! Fight!" break up from some of the more rowdy patrons.
Although not the tavern of his own childhood, Reed found a familiar sort of comfort at the Yawning Portal. Although it had been years since he'd stepped foot anywhere near Waterdeep, the smell of ale, the sound of chatter, and the warm rowdy cheer made him feel at ease. He was a tall, skinny looking man, half-elf by the looks of him. He was warm skinned, with messy wavy hair and bright green eyes. He wore a thick dark overcoat and a matching scarf that had him heavily covered—between that and the dim looking corner he was sitting in, it didn't take a genius to guess he was trying to go unnoticed. As he watched the patrons of the bar, he smiled, fiddling with a half empty tankard of cheap ale. At the sudden break out of fighting, an amused expression crosses his face. He sets his hand on the handle of his greataxe, more out of habit than any real intent, and watched the conflict unfold.

Krisphyra has come to the Yawning Portal semi-regularly over their years in the city. It's a great place to sit back, relax, and people watch long into the night.
They usually stick to a back corner table as they have found that people are not always appreciative of a drow presence in their midst. Their hair kept short they tend to dress in light clothes, vests and loose pants easy to move in. They are often found with a wide wondering look on their face as they peer around at the tavern patron.
When the fight breaks out Krisphyra blinks in that direction, carefully keeping an eye out. It's not the fist tavern brawl they've witnessed. However if it grows as brawls tend to they want to be prepared.

Stilgar was enjoying the sights of this city and bar. Both orders of magnitude larger than anything he'd ever experienced before. Enjoying his 2nd beer already "this stuff is great!" he thinks to himself, a fight breaks out on the lower level of the bar. Stilgar, being an Aarakocra who enjoys heights was as high up as there are seats, and looking down.
No stranger to fighting with his fits, he sees that this fight seems very one sided. Stilgar will pound the rest of his beer, leap over the edge and fly/glide down to just behind the man who is attacking the half-orc. Looking at the man's companions, with the fight behind him, he'll pull his spear to the ready in one hand, holding the other out palm towards them, and say "Let's keep this fair gents. one-on-one. Let them settle their business eh?"
Zedfrey was at home in taverns. When he moved to Waterdeep he immediately looked for the famed Yawning Portal, and was not disappointed to find out that everything he heard about the place was true. A very good sign was that few people turned to stare at him, which would normally happen when the Air Genasi entered any room in smaller towns. He liked big cities for this reason.
The itch go jump on a stage and start to play was real, however he restrained himself and went to order a beer to consider the clientele and what tunes would best suit the general atmosphere of the tavern. When the other bard some tables away started the out of tune song he shuddered: "some people should use a plow rather than offending ears with musical instruments", he muttered.
Then the brawl broke out. Zed wasn't a stranger to bar fights, he had seen many since he started performing in taverns, and generally he thought best to stay away from the fray, maybe even use it as an input to start songs that would accompany the theet smashing and procure him some more money.
This time however his curiosity was peaked by the gliding Aarakocra suddenly appearing from above and joining the fight. Feeling a kinship with another creature of the air, Zed stood up and moved towards the edge of the brawl so Stilgar could hear him, starting to weave inspiring words that would hopefully help the brave adventurer:
"From peaks up high, almost touching the skies, down comes the gliding might, talons ready to fight!" (bardic inspiration on Stilgar).
"Well, that's neat,"Krisphyra says, climbing onto the table and sitting on top of it, legs crossed, to watch the bird person glide downward and join the fight.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Raukiam had been coming to this very tavern almost every time his training was complete, and the smell and atmosphere of the place was as welcoming as ever. He sat down on a table near the middle, wearing chainmail underneath a red and white surcoat with Ilmater's sign stitched in it's center, along with a simple gorget and a large lobstered pauldron on his left shoulder. The sounds and the rowdiness of the place covered him like a blanket as he took a drink from his tankard.
When the off-tune music from the bard started playing, he gave him a wary look. But before he could do anything, a brawl was breaking out when an Aarokocra glided down followed by a Genasi.
A worried look crosses his face and he quickly finishes his drink before standing up and walking over to the half-orc, placing his shield onto the bar. Looking at the humans across the Aarokocra, "I agree with the sentiment to make this fair," he says with a bit of a grin, "you'll have to fight me along with her. How long before you lot are either fleeing or knocked out, I wonder? Bloody and bruised all over."
