First of all I want to apologize guys. RL really caught me past two weeks. Nothing serious but enough things to keep me busy. Things should be calming down now and I shoudl be able to keep on track for the next couple of weeks unitl a normality is completely restored here. In the meantime feel free to push onward and bot my character as you feel appropiate not to delay the game in case I miss a day or two.
Rothnar talks in his usual low voice
"Do you know how much is a meal at the Coiled Serpent? We have a reservation for tomorrow and perhaps there is a dress code? We need to blend in and not arise any suspcious. The idea is to make a sweep on the local to see if it is a suitable place for an attack. I am more used to infiltrate without beign noticed that to pose as another person, so I may need help to impersonate this Burt Reynolds character.."
The first two questions were directed to Eloise, the rest he turns towards his comrades to plan the evening.
Eloise wrinkles her nose "I haven't eaten there myself, but posh meals usually cost up to 5gp per person around here. It might be best to get some nice duds if you want to blend in. There are some shops in the Old Town which should have what you need. I reckon spending 20gp would be enough to make sure you're not out of place but you could spend many times that if you wanted to make an impression.
((No problem whatsoever, we all have real lives!))
Eloise comes back to you a few days later. "OK, so I asked around the docks. There are some workers who are pissed at Sammus. Apparently he throws money around a bit and gets preferntial treatment and treats everyone who doesn't work for him as an obstacle. They're not best pleased. If you like, I could set up a meeting with some of them in you like? Didn't find out anything about who might have put out the contract though."
You can ask Eloise to set up a meeting with the other dock workers if you like, and that can be before or after the meal you have booked at the Coiled Serpent. If you don't want to meet them or want to do the meal first, I suggest we skip to the meal?
Nodding, Laza says "No need for a meeting... I don't want any connection between us and him specifically. Could you tell me where he throws money around? And what types of 'preferential treatment' this often gets him? Maybe I'll head around and try to befriend those he's spurned. The rest of you can enjoy your nice dinner."the last line said with a small smirk.
"They said he throws his money around the docks. Makes sure the guards looks the other way. Has enough muscle around that everybody knows not to mess with his operations. That sort of thing. Pisses off some of the workers who work for other people as it means they have to tiptoe around him and his business. The dock workers hang out in taverns around the dock - I ran into the people who told me this information at the Swarthy Seadog if you want to give them a visit. Seemed most people in there weren't that keen on Sammus."
((Since we've effectively been splitting the party, I have no idea how long has passed, and if things are different from Laza or the rest of the team... soooo...))
Laza will use his hat to keep himself disguised while starting to hang around the docks. Depending on time needed/past already, he would spend a couple days meeting/befriending people (some of this time might be in the Swarthy Seadog), as well as trying to spot the guards and where the Sammus' operations are - probably by 'accidentally' being in the 'wrong' place at the 'wrong' time, to see how he's dealt with.
We can start the RP either in the Seadog (after having dome some exploration), or on the docks.
Ruhvon rejoins the others at the inn. He bristles at the mention of a fancy meal. "Perhaps we can find a way to poison his meal the next time he dines there?"
He then relates all that he discovered at the warehouse and the likely smuggling operation Sammus has going on at the docks. "With this smuggling operation, it seems clear why he is willing to toss around the extra coin."
"Posioning his food is a good idea. I should have think of a better approach to that fancy restaurant and tried to be hired as a dishwasher or something. Do we have the funds to blend in and make ourselves regulars of the place?" he asks to the others. " Seems a very expensive way to carry out our mission but I am willing to give all my funds to it. We must be careful thought, not to poison anyone with him too. We must be precise." says Rohtnar to the others in his usual, almost whispering tone of voice.

We're currently about three days before the meal you have booked. You spend a few days befriending the workers in the Salty Seadog and hanging around the docks, watching Sammus' convoys. I'll roll a d4 to see which yields results first. 1-2: The Seadog, 3-4: Hanging around. 3
You spend some time near Sammus' warehouse, taking note of where the wagons come from and go to. Most come from the surrounding farms and go on to the ships or the market in town. Once or twice a day though, another type of cart enters or leaves the warehouse. It has a higher quality guard, like the one Ruhvon mentioned, and always goes to a large ship waiting in the docks just before it sets sail. You can't tell exactly where they come from, but it seems to be somewhere far inland.
You're observing one such cart, making yourself a little obvious when you feel a presence behind you. You feel that a knife is being pressed against your side and a voice whispers in your ear "Don't say a word. Don't look around. You've been watching us. You're coming with me to see the boss." The voice is sharp and vicious. A hand is placed on your shoulder and its pressure tells you the figure wants you to walk into the warehouse with him.

Some nice ideas. Anything you want to do to put them into action?

((and this is what happens when you split the party :P ))
"Go ahead and wait for me in there."Laza would quietly suggest ((wis save 14)). If the spell succeeds he will quickly make his way back to their base, dropping his disguise only when out of eyesight, trying to stay hidden ((stealth 22)), and asking his patron ((guidance)) for help watching for anyone following ((perception 9)); if it fails he'll laugh off the 'joke' and follow along.
The figure behind you pauses as you cast your spell. Wis save: 20"What do you take me for? A weak-minded fool? Your tricks won't work on me." You attempt to play off your suggestion as a joke and the voice says "Save it. I said no talking. I'll stick you if you try anything else." and he begins to march you into the warehouse on the other side of the street. The street is empty as it's mid-evening and most of the docks have shut down for the day.
((Do you want to try anything else before he brings you to his boss?))
Nodding Laza will simply nod, causing his weasel pet to appear off to the side. He then telepathically tells it "Go back to the team. Hopefully if they see you alone they'll follow. Lead them to the warehouse." ((stealth for the weasel "Ghani" - 13))
The figure pushing you doesn't notice the weasel appear and continues to push you into the warehouse. He takes you through the main section and through the doors into the walled-off section Ruhvon told you about. Inside, there's a number of crates piled against the walls, but nothing stands out as unusual, except for a figure sat behind a chair in front of a table. The figure is that of a human male in their mid-forties. He has dark hair with some wisps of grey creeping in and sharp features. His eyes are bright and focused on you. As you glance around the room, you notice three thugs scattered (in addition to the one holding the knife to your side) around and a figure with dark sunken eyes wearing a robe skulking in the shadows. The figure at your back pushes you down into the chair opposite the seated figure. The observe you for a second before speaking. "You've taken an interest in my operation. I would like to know who you are and who you work for." The voice is not overly threatening, but it sounds confident that you will tell them.
((By the way, what's your disguise?))
Ruhvon and Rothnar, you're both eating a meal with Eloise when a weasel you recognise to be Laza's pet rushes through the door. It appears agitated and, from its body language, it seems to want you to follow it. You know that Laza was staking out the warehouse.
Before answering any questions Laza looks around at all of his captors, suddenly sits a bit taller, and an aura of Fey energy emanates from him. ((attempting to charm everyone around))
Fey Presence
Once per short rest, as an action, you can cause each creature in a 10-ft. cube from you to make a WIS saving throw (DC 13) or become charmed or frightened by you (your choice) until the end of your next turn.
((his disguise is the same as he always has up when not with friends. Still a Tabaxi, just not all black. Calico colored and to match the occasion; so here, all dock worker style clothes.))
"That could only mean problems.." says Rothnar standing up and taking his weapons. " Let's go..." he says to Ruhvon ready to follow the weasel.
Eloise takes a swig from an open wine bottle, cracks her knuckles and rises to her feet. "Guess I'll come with you in case you need some muscle." The three of you (I'm assuming Ruhvon joins) begin to follow the weasel. It ducks and darts through the streets toward the docks. It'll take you about fifteen minutes to arrive
((We might need to play Laza's scene on a little first so we know what you arrive to))

Figure sat down: 23 Figure behind you: 15 . A look of confusion stems across the sat figure's face for a second and you feel the knife in your side twitch for a moment but both people seem to be unaffected by your magical emanation. The figure sat opposite you at the table taps their fingers in a low deliberate rhythm. "Well?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Look... I dun mean no harm." Laza says, changing his voice a bit to match the speaking style of those working on the docks "I'm new ta town and so many people was talkin' about some smugglin' 'round here. I figured I could see if y'all was makin' any mistakes I could help fix." ((deception 18)) "Didn' see much other than that you pissin' everyone n' their mother off 'round the docks."

And you just so happened to think that the best way of doing that was to spy on me instead of coming to me first? No, I think not. You're working for someone. And I intend to find out who. I'm going to ask you one more time nicely. Then I'll stop being so nice."
Perception check for you: 17 You notice out of the corner of your eye one of the guards begin unpacking a bag on to a table. He takes out rope, various knives and an assortment of tools one by one. He's smiling to himself.
"Ya don't think yer pissin' people off?! hah! Half the dock's got it out for ya. This Oliver bloke just wouldn't shut up about how much of a prick you are, and he's far from alone. But if you don't want ol' Ghani here to help ya out it's only gonna get worse." Laza says
((I assume you meant Roman? Apologies again that I used the wrong name at one point))
Sammus flinches a little at the mention of Roman's name. "You've been talking to Roman have you?" His resolve stiffens. "That means jackshit. Anybody could talk to him. Doesn't mean you are who you say you are. No, I think I need to find out more. Grimbold, you're needed." He beckons to the large figure that was unpacking the bag of tools and he and two of the other burly men approach you. Grimbold is smiling and holding the rope.
At this point, the rest of the party are about halfway to Sammus' warehouse.
