"Yours ?" he replied handing the Rapier back to Kai "I was handed this by the elf, very well i will not end his life this night, i will stand watch i have no skill with locks" Gideon turns and searches Szetin patting him down and going through his pockets.
Investigation: 3
Gideon returns to the annex doorway weapon still drawn he listens for any of the approaching guards.
OOC: Gideon will not be searching anyone else from here on out......3 and a 4 ha
OOC the lock is different, you can totally use the three successes as three on for the main cabinet though. There is a higher DC to disarm the trap, you can work together for advantage on the roll but if you fail by a certain amount you set the alarm off :) oooooooo
10, 25, 13 (1 more success towards the 6 locks on the last cabinet, I'll let Gryffen roll a bunch as he would be unlocking them at the same pace as me)
"Wait," Gryffen says, standing on his toes to spy the plate the artifact is resting on. "Wait, wait, wait. "
The halfling pulls a vial of poison from his pack. "We need a delicate touch. It is much more sensitive than we thought." He hands the vial to Ophelia. "I'll pinch the pulley line to keep it appropriately taut. You estimate the weight. We'll start heavy and pour out poison to lighten it. I'll keep the tension until it is right."
Before he bends down to reach for the alarm mechanism, he looks Opheliain the eye, saying nothing. Once he sees recognition of trust, he bends down and reaches under the display to pinch the taut little wire between his fingers as carefully as he can.
"Okay," he says. "Take the stone. I'll watch the line for slack or pull."
"Slack. Empty some out," he says one the first attempt....
Crouching low on the opposite side from Gryffen, Ophelia studies the gem while listening to the monk, stroking her chin with her right hand. In one fluid motion she swaps the gem with the vial. She gradually empties it of its contents, until he signals that the vial contains just the right amount of liquid. A bead of sweat runs down her head as she steps away from the cabinet, silently motioning to Gryffen to do the same...
Gryffenfeels what seems to be the right amount of tension in the line. "Kai, get up to the roof with the stone. I'm not letting go of this until we have at least you out of here.Ophelia and Gideon, get yourselves ready. If the alarm sounds, you need to take your places as quick as you can. I'll get up the rope if I have time, otherwise pull it up and close the hatch," the halfling says.
Once everyone is in their positions, Gryffenreleases the wire, holding his breath, and steps backward to the rope, ready to pull himself to the roof...
"The situation has changed significantly, men are dead and the game changed we cannot remain behind" he furrowed his brow in concentration, how would he get to the roof unseen Gideon was surely no fleet footed thief or acrobat.
Gryffen and Ophelia masterfully replace the Ioun stone with the vial and the weight is close enough to not trigger the trap. Surveying the scene the group are aware that there are three unlocked cabinets, one pilfered of the Ioun stone, one more with the gem of brightness and another with the selection of necklaces from the Cities of Dust. Lord Szetin is still slumped against the wall, unmoving.
The hatch to the roof is open, Gryffen has left a rope hanging down, secured from the roof. Ophelia has enough of the sleeping mixture to definitely knock out one person, possibly two. Kai has Szetin's rapier and the Ioun stone on his person.

"What a bloody mess," Gryffen mutters. More loudly, he says to the dead guards, "I am sorry your deaths could not mean more for us. If they meant something to someone else, we will find out why soon enough."
The halfling grabs the rope with both hands and looks to Gideonand Ophelia. "Throw Szetin down the stairs and light the place on fire, I say. Or don't. I have nothing else to offer except hiding our exit route at this point. Make sure we can lock the hatch if you are climbing up with the rest of us."
Frowning as she digests Gryffen's suggestion, Ophelia gathers everything of value in her purse, and beckons to Kai to throw the rapier back down to her, having had a sudden change of heart. Picking it up from the floor as it lands with a clatter, she runs through each guard in turn, before placing the weapon near Lord Szetin, and hanging the pole used to open the roof hatch back in its original position.
"I'm sure you would allow the lady the honor of leaving first? No peeking now", she says as she ascend the rope, surprisingly agile for someone wearing a corseted dress.
Kai does not contribute much to the discussion other than nod at Gryffen’s suggestion. Once Kai has the purse and stone on his body he turns into a rat (cats are scarce in the town if I recall correctly - working from I-pad) and then scurries off the roof to head back to their accomodation.

Gideon takes one look around the room before moving up the rope himself, once up he gathers the rope and coils it whilst Gryffen closes the roof hatch. Stooping low the Paladin now waits instruction from the more competent robbers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ophelia
"Gryffen, can you make your way back on your own? Eyebrows would be raised if a lady of my standing were to be out at night without a chaperone, so Gideon and I should head back together, given he looks the part."
Keeping low, Ophelia peers over the side of the building, looking for movement close to the museum and further away towards the various streets visible from the rooftop.
Gryffen sets to work on the exhibits that are not alarmed. (I can reroll a natural 1 with my lucky trait.)
Rerolling number 2: 23
7 successes, meaning one display gets unlocked.

"Well I handed it to Kai for safekeeping!", she hisses, annoyed by the interruption.
26, 18, 15, 26, 13, 20, 27, 22, 8, 20 (8 successes)
Despite the distraction, the locks are opened quickly and methodically, with Ophelia emptying the contents into her purse.
OOC - that's 3 successes left over between us, shall we add them to the main cabinet? Should we use one of them to disarm the alarm?

4 out of 6 successes?
OOC - already had 4/6 successes as of my last post, so your first 2 open the rest of the locks, and the crit success disarms the alarm. DM? :D
Only if I get an Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark style pressure plate swap post showing Gryffen and Ophelia sweating over the disarming.

Ophelia sees the pair of guards that patrol the museum's outside grounds directly underneath her as she looks out.
If you are all on the roof there is no way to lock the hatch, it could be closed but not locked.
