For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised — and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world.
(Can everybody give a general idea for why they are in Baldur's Gate please. And where they are.)

Shank wanders through the alleys of Baldur's Gate, scavenging for trinkets and treasures in the garbage heaps. "One -hak- man's trash is another man's -hak- treasure." He says contentedly as he searches.
Shank is an aaracrokra with the distinct appearance of a vulture. His sharp beak is scarred, and his black eyes are clever and cunning. On his back is a pack stuffed with all manner of odd items, and a multitude of bags hanging from his belt contain similar paraphernalia.
Shank has lived in Baldur's Gate his entire life, and knows the streets and alleys like the back of his talons. His only purpose in life is to find 'treasures' discarded by the residents of Baldur's Gate and add them to his collection.
Yesqirelle is a young-looking elven woman, with white hair and extremely pale skin. The only old looking thing about her is her eyes, dark brown and haunted-looking.

Selen is looking for a job as a guard. For now he is at the Elf Song Tavern a little bit of the Basilisk Gate waiting for a contact to come. He also heard that the Flaming Fists are hiring so he might try to go there.
Selen heard that in Luskan and in the North there are a few Dark elf that has succeeded in shaking the hand of Lolth and her Matrons from their throat. He wants that for himself.
Yesqirelle: As she meditates in one of the temple chambers, one of the priests approaches her. "Excuse me, a servant delivered a letter for you, would you like it now, or shall I wait?"
Shank: As Shank wander's through the alleys, he comes across a large fancy poster lying in a trash heap: ADVENTURES WANTED! HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO EXPLORE NEW LANDS? PLUNDER ANCIENT CITIES? SYNDRA SILVANE IS NOW SPONSORING EXPEDITIONS TO THE WILD LAND OF CHULT! INTRESTED? COME VISIT HER AT HER MANOR, IN THE UPPER CITY!
Leann: Pacing impatiently, she awaits her mentor on the steps of the temple. People of all sorts walk pass the temple, commoners, Flaming Fist, and many others. One man, dressed in servants attire approaches her. "M'lady, I am looking for adventurers willing to brave the lands of Chult, would you happen to know someone?"
Selen: Sitting at the bar of Elfsong with most of the patrons eyeing him with distaste, Selen overhears a particularly rowdy bunch of drunks talking about expeditions to Chult. "Ar, you wouldn't get me on a boat to Chult for three hundred silver coins. Especially not for that snob of a woman Silvane.""Why not! I hear they have riches beyond measure. Enough wealth to make you a king!."

Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.

Leann frowns as she hears this. "I feel like I should hear more of this." She says finally, pushing her blond braid back behind a shoulder. "Is there someone I should speak to on this, or do you have more information?"
A look of relief passes over the servant's tired face. He mumbles a prayer of thanks before answering. "I have some information, I will share what I know. Lady Silvane has started sponsoring journeys to Chult, all she wants is fifteen percent of the profit, which will be nothing compared to what you'll get. There will be dangers, but many rewards." He smiles. "If you interested, here is M'lady's address. I must be going now, good luck." He hands you a small piece of parchment, and walks into the crowd shouting "Adventurers wanted!"

Leann leaves word in the temple prior to finding someone who can give her directions to the lady on the paper's address. She does not know the town well enough to make it on her own.
Yesqirelle: The letter is made of paper, not parchment, indicating the writer as a wealthy person.
It reads: Yesqirelle:
Congratulations! You have been invited to join a sponsored adventure in the unexplored lands of Chult!
In order to claim this reward, please come to Lady Silvane's manor in the Upper City!
Selen: The bartender tries to ignore you at first. But a paying customer is a paying customer. "Lady Silvane is a wealthy merchant in the Upper City, she's a famous adventurer who retired several years ago. Since then, she's made more money than I'll every see on Chult expeditions. Although I haven't heard of a expedition crew that had a happy ending. I heard she was trying to recruit a new crew. I'm not going closer than ten miles from Chult, no sir."
Shank: (I'm going to assume he's headed toward the mansion on his own.)
Leann: One of the temple priests recommends a young homeless boy who helps clean the temple as a guide. "He means good, he'll do his best to get you where you need to go. Knows his way around the city more than most Flaming Fists."

Seebo has lived in Baldur’s Gate for a little over a year now, studying wizardry under his master Avenus Caid. With his master dead for a about a week now he still goes about his daily routine, not quite sure what else to do. Today he is at a local magic shop (Sorcerous Sundries perhaps?) browsing through the wares, daydreaming while looking for nothing in particular.
He wears travellers clothes, finding them a bit more comfortable than the common varieties available and, as always, he carries his precious crystal ball (a gift from his master) in one hand.
Shank should know his way around the city from all his years there, and Silvane's mansion a noticeable from a few blocks away.
Yesqirelle: "I can not guide personally, but I can give you directions." Which he promptly does, and describes in much more detail than needed.
Seebo: As he browses the wares, he hears a voice shouting: "Looking for adventures! Want to plunder the land of Chult?! Want to earn glory and riches!? Apply here!

Seebo is abruptly pulled from his daydream about conjuring a mountain of strawberries so enormous that it covers the land as far as the eye can see. Looking annoyed at the man who feels the need to shout indoors, he approaches and says, “You there. What is all this nonsense about? Can’t you see people are trying to shop in peace?”

Yesqirelle is in whatever local temple of Kelemvor that might be found. Meditating and just generally ignoring everyone.
She came to Baldur's Gate just as a part of her travels, searching for rumors of undead.

Leann is a blond female, wearing chain mail and with a long sword at her hip. Her shield has the symbol of Torm on it's front.
She would be in Baldur's Gate, at a local temple to Torm. She was suppose to meet her mentor here, but he is already several days overdue.

Yesqirelle nods, and accepts the letter.

Selen gets up and goes to pay his tab at the bar.
He tips a bit more and asks. "Where can I find this lady Silvane everyone seems to be talking about."
If anyone gives him wierd look Selen will just stare in the eyes with a cold face and almost dead eyes. Like he has no care I the world.
