Alessa ran after Ismark to judge the situation by herself. Indeed, she spoke too soon - the monsters were here! Absolutely instinctively, out of disgust mostly, she threw a spell not thinking about saving the magic or anything like it.

Hearing the commotion, Sezsu picks out one last turnip and stuffs the rest of the slice of pie into his mouth as he quickly stands up, trying not to drop crumbs on the rug.
He pokes his head into the hall from the dining room doorway and stifles a gag as he sees the creature. Looking to Ed and his glowing chair he rolls his eyes and says, "What exactly do you plan to do with that? Light it's path? Give it a sparkly place to rest its weary legs? Didn't you grab a stout cudgel from the woods? Go and find that while deal with this thing!"
Waving his hands in an intricate, circular motion, Sezsu lets out a series of guttural noises interspersed with what sounds like hisses as a large, pearlescent four-flanged mace shimmers into existence in the hall in front of the zombie. As the incantation culminates, the mace swings down at the monster just as the a silvery flame descend on it.

As the incantation culminates, the mace swings down at the monster just as the a silvery flame descend on it. The divine hammer slams into the zombie, crushing several vertebrae with a sickening sound. The flames rise up from the ground, burning it as it falls to the ground, a heap of charred humanoid rot.

Around the house, banging can be heard as more... things attempt to gain entry into the house. The sound of shattering glass and smashing wooden boarding indicates the worst.
Ismark collects his crossbow, furiously loading a bolt. "Grab a weapon--er..." he spies the remains of the zombie in the hall. "Upstairs! I have more weapons!" He moves up the front stairs.
Back in the kitchen, Zied had zoned out considerably prior to the sudden ruckus. Uttering a small curse at his own distraction, Zied mounts the table just in time to see the charred crumpled re-corpsed-corpse, "Well, that worked well." complimenting Seszu as he passes, and follows up on Ismark's command, It is his home turf after all, but calls out as he follows after Ismark "Slow down, If they've surounded us they may have an ambush above Ismark!" calling a warning, given the situation and the prior lead up. Likely, if the guest at the funeral was related to the ire of the lord, the targets may well be us, not Ismark.
OOC. I believe I have more than enough movement with the move + action movement. If I see Ismark, i will use a Barrier Talisman (Sanctuary)on Ismark. If I don't see him, I won't have a bonus action.
Alessa followed Ismark and Zeid upstairs. Hopefully, that thing can not climb, then they might get at least a choke point (this, and the weapon would be welcomed too). She looked back, checking if Ed and Sezsu are following - if anyone, they were better prepared to deal with the dead, but still.
(The idea is to move out of the way of those behind who needs weapon but keep an eye on the stairs.)
"I thought we'd play musical chairs actually, and dazzle him with my party game skills. I guess your way works better though." As Ismark's mention of weapons, Ed slightly rolls his eyes before moving to teh bottom of the stairs with the chair, "spare weapons are things we like to discuss prior to a zombie invasion Ismark... C'mon Seszu your yourself and that floating mace up the stairs."
Seeing no other zombies in the immediate vicinity, Ed leaves the chair at the foot of the stairs and will wait for Seszu to head upstairs ahead of him before dashing up after.
Movement: 20ft to bottom of stairs Action: Ready - Dash upstairs after all others have started up the stairs. Bonus Action: 'Witty' banter
"Wait... There have been actual weapons available this whole time and Ed was carrying around a tree branch?" Sezsu laughs as he spryly runs up the stairs two at a time. "That's brilliant! Holy Edlanar, paladin of Lathander, grandmaster of the Order of the Stick!" He gets to the top of the steps and doubles over laughing. "Get up here, old man! Selûne's rod will hold the line while we fortify ourselves. Then we can see about re-securing the house."
Looking to Ismark, he cocks an eyebrow. "I don't suppose you'd happen to keep armor or shields or anything like that lying about this great house of yours, would you? That might be too much to hope for... Now, where are these weapons you mentioned?"
(Moved the spiritual weapon 20 feet to protect the foot of the stairs.)

Seeing no other zombies in the immediate vicinity, Ed leaves the chair at the foot of the stairs and will wait for Seszu to head upstairs ahead of him before dashing up after.
Sezsu races up the stairs, summoning his spiritual weapon to guard behind. Looking to Ismark, he cocks an eyebrow. "I don't suppose you'd happen to keep armor or shields or anything like that lying about this great house of yours, would you? That might be too much to hope for... Now, where are these weapons you mentioned?"
Zied calls out as he follows after Ismark "Slow down, If they've surrounded us they may have an ambush above Ismark!"
“It has been so long since last attack, I did not expect this! I have only armor of my own, but some weapons, yes! This way!” Ismark races up the stairs ahead and disappears into the upstairs hallway.
Meanwhile, down below, there are dull but persistent bangs on the mansions walls and windows. Groans and the sound of something heavy dragging emanate from the hall, though Alessa and Sezsu are unable to see around the corner.
"I'll go with Ismark and see to those weapons, I'm not doing that much without them. Keep the stairs as a choke point and I'll shout if there are any up here." With that Ed follows fast on Ismark's heels.
@Ashen - Ed was ahead of Ismark and will use dash if needed. Can you move him with Ismark or towards the weapons if Ismark can direct him?
Laughter subsiding, Sezsu sighs. "Wish we'd had a heads up. Would've been fun to lay some traps like ice on the front steps, or burning hot doorknobs... Maybe some heavy objects hanging over the stairs that we could swing down at them. Could be enjoyable to drop a hot iron in their heads from above." He shrugs. "Either way, these moist brigands won't get far in this house. The filthy animals..."
With a moment of quiet with nothing to do but wait, he grins and glances at Alessandra as he adds, "So... Come here often?" and lets out a snort of laughter.
(Moved the spiritual weapon to the foot of the stairs to wait for any more enemies to appear.)
Looking out the window at the stair top briefly, Zied reacts to Seszu's off hand commentary. "Hmmm, not a bad idea Seszu," 'borrowing' the left over chair Ed had taken, and preparing to fling it off the bannister if he sees one. He further calls out to Ed, "If you find a dagger, hand axe or its ilk, I would not refuse Ed."
Ed follows Ismark into a room that is part study, part armory. A stand in one corner holds a suit of splint, and in the corner, learning against the wall, rests a dusty shortbow. “Here!” Ismark scrambles to the desk where a pristine longsword rests sheathed on a stand. The weapon is clearly meant for display, but Ismark tosses it to Ed unceremoniously. “My father’s sword!” Ismark rummages against the wall and also tosses out a shortsword and two daggers before grabbing a handful of bolts for his crossbow.
Sezsu draws his spiritual weapon near the stairs. Zied and Alessa stay close, preparing to defend.
A moment later, two undead round the corner, clumsily dragging their rotted appendages up the stairs. Upstairs in the study, Ed and Ismark can just make out unusual noises in the back stairwell.
"More often than I'd like,"did not accept the joke Alessandra, her sense of humour being preoccupied with the zombie attack. Then she sighed "I'm afraid we will still have a chance to organize the traps for the future. What on earth do they want with this house?!"
She was waiting for the monsters to show up, and used that opportunity to make herself a bit harder to hit. (Mage Armor)
(If you allow, Mage armor would be cast last round, if not - no Mage armour but instead Magic Missile4 x 3 (or if you count darts separately: + 4 + 2) on one zombie. If it falls - then one or two darts goes to another.
Ed quickly looks over the sword Ismark hands him, "A fine blade, I shall endeavour to do your father proud with it." He gathers the other blades as best he is able and starts to make his way to the stairs. As he gets back onto the main corridor he spies two zombies making their way up a secondary stairwell and shouts, "Ismark, get that crossbow ready, Zied, they are coming up the back!" Unsheathing the longsword Ed invokes the protection of Lathander on himself and stands ready to test the blade against the zombies.
Action: Cast Protection from Evil and Good targeting self Bonus action: none Movement: ~5-10 ft gathering items, 20ft into hallway
Hearing Ed's shout, Sezsu's smirk evaporates. "Oh come ON! Nobody told me this house had another staircase! How's it coming with those weapons, Ed? I think Z's feeling stabby!"
Tugging lightly on Alessa's sleeve, he jerks his head, indicating he thinks they should continue to the 2nd floor. He hugs the railing and keeps an eye on the zombies below as he climbs. The spectral mace swings at the zombie Alessa targeted. Sezsu's open hand twists and balls into a fist as he lets out another hiss and a bell sounds as the zombie clutches its head.
Bonus action: Spiritual weapon - Attack: 18 Damage: 6 force damage (and move it up to the landing, staying ahead of the zombies) Action: Toll the dead - Wis save DC 13 or take 8 necrotic damage (or 3 if the spiritual weapon hit) Movement: up to the next landing with Zied
"Two by two. Keep moving, widdle them down. I'll back up Ed." Turning on his heel, dropping the chair and dashing all the way to Ed, drawing a dagger from his pile. "Two back there, how many here?" glancing over his shoulder to see them.
Giving a call out to Ismark "Ismark get between us, provide covering fire. Rain death to undeath."
Moved, then moved with the action to use item interaction to get his dagger. Not much else to do~
