The toad opens its mouth slightly, as if it were trying to smile. "I would show you, but I am afraid I am stuck here. Get me out of this circle, will you?"
Elric had made towards the circle when he noticed that Zyl was trying to determine the toad's intentions. Head turned in anticipation, he waits for a sign from his colleague.
Nedni sees the wisdom in Zyl's precautions, "Yes, why would a perfectly innocent looking Toad be sitting in a summoning circle in an extradimensional space without the wizard about?" She ponders outloud, then surveys the room again quickly confirming that there is indeed no wizard about.
The toad thinks, at a loss for an answer that would likely please you. At last, it grumbles something in a language you all probably don't know, before pleading: "I am indeed no wizard's familiar. But please, hear me! I was summoned by the wizard woman for some purpose, I know not what, for she was called away from here years ago after I was brought to this plane, and did not return. I have been so incredibly bored stuck here in this circle! Listen, you're stuck here too, right? We can make a deal. Release me, and I will help you get out of here; I will be plenty useful, trust me."
The toad grumbles. "I will show my true form, if I must to convince you." The toad rises on its hind legs and contorts, remaining roughly the same size but growing claws, horns and a slim tail.
The creature then continues to speak. "Let's get on with this, then! Shall I serve you, or will you return me to the Abyss?"

Elric is stunned by the transformation that occurs before him; he has heard of creatures that live beyond the material world but never seen one before. Something that the creature said makes him snap to attention "Did it say it would serve us? Could we gain some clues here?"
Clutching his holy symbol, he feels wracked with internal conflict; would it anger his deity to consort with such an atrocity, even if it meant saving the village? He tried to recall the lessons from the temple, in case he had been given any prior education as to the nature of the creature before him and a way to manipulate it.
Religion(?): 18 plus 2 for Guidance
(If Nature is more appropriate then it's the same score; Arcana would score 2 lower).

Zyl considers what sort of power or skills an abyssal creature like this creature could have and what goals they would be uniquely able to help wizards achieve.
Arcana: 14
(Zyl has been spending more time in the trees than the library apparently)
The toad opens its mouth slightly, as if it were trying to smile. "I would show you, but I am afraid I am stuck here. Get me out of this circle, will you?"
"How do we do that?"
The toad explains, "From outside the circle, you should be able to erase it. Just a small section is enough."
"Who put you in there?"
Insight check on the toad's intentions: 12
Elric had made towards the circle when he noticed that Zyl was trying to determine the toad's intentions. Head turned in anticipation, he waits for a sign from his colleague.
The toad pauses a moment before answering, "The wizard did."
Zyl senses that this is true, but that the toad may not be telling the whole truth.
No sign of a wizard about.
"What were you doing before you got stuck here?" Gan asks, eyes narrowing.

"Well familiar or no you're clearly no toad. What are you?"
Nedni looks slightly alarmed when it reveals itself. “How do we return you?”

Edit: Ah I guess it won't matter!

Elric, failing to recall anything that might give him an edge in negotiations, decides to straight up ask the creature:
"If we were to release you from the circle, do you pledge unswavering loyalty to us?"
Insight check to judge the creature's response for honesty: 11
Nedni smiles as she watches her companion ask the little (to her eyes) demon if he promises to be good and awaits its answer
