"Hmmm so we need to prepare ourselves. Hopefully the next flare will be land based, if the gods are going to make a mess of the sea, then the best way to travel will be either be by air or land. Unless all of you have wings I don't see, the land rout is the most feasible. We going to need to buy horses, a wagon and food supplies that won't easily spoil. We may need some climbing supplies if we come to a mountainous region, if you folk don't have any climbing gear," says Brock. It seems that this hasn't been the first time the Dwarf had plan treks through the wilderness and rough terrain.
“Pay the others no mind, Ssej” Yashin tries to reassure the creature, the like of which he had not seen before “Not everyone has had to worry about where they find their next meal or where they lay down their head at night, some are born to gilded towers and pampered with all of their needs”
Yashin looked around the table. He expected that everyone would do their part, they were chosen as champions of their respective gods after all. But he did not know much about how they were chosen. Talos valued might and strength, what did these other gods value? He would watch them closely during the upcoming journey, especially the elves and the follower of Tyr.
“So I guess we wait for the next surge of magic” Turning to Laeral “Do we know how many of these artifacts there will be, what if there are only two?" To rest of the group "In the meantime, I agree with Brock and Senna, we should gather supplies, make arrangements for transportation, and prepare ourselves to face dragons. Any other ideas?"
"Ah yes, I forgot the achievements of one's people are a bad thing. I'll be sure to return and have my people destroy everything we've built as soon as I'm done slaying these dragon riders." Despite his sarcasm, Aio seems mostly amused by some of the comments of his new companions.
"Speaking of wings, is Waterdeep not known for its gryphons?" The elf lifts an eyebrow towards the Open Lord and the Blackstaff.
"I don't know if a griffon will carry a goliath's weight. Also, feed wise they are expense to maintain from what I've heard. Hmmm there's a lot I don't like about this situation. We are basically playing on the back foot with these beings. We can try to prevent them from getting these items, but how many do they need to cause more trouble? I hope something is in the works to put a permeant stop to this group," says Brock as he takes another sip from his mug,
"As far as transportation goes,"Kerah remarks, "I will manage myself. I have my own means of transportation, ones that can't aid any of you. Well, perhaps one of you, if I can trust you to ride my back."He also didn't like the thought of trying to run ahead of someone that is always in front of him, without encountering them. Of course, the race wasn't a straight line, but it could mean better as much as it could mean worse.
Listening to the party: "What about an airship?" he asks looking to the party then to the Lords of Waterdeep. "From what I understand of them, which is very little, it could speed us on our way as we respond to the next location."
While taking this all in, concern creeps into Valor's face. "Can you show us an image of what we face?"he asks. "And are they just "their group" or do they command forces and agents?" Pausing for a moment to let them answer Valor will listen then ask 1 more question. "What do the Metallic Dragons have to say on this matter? Has anyone consulted them?"
In the vision you were shoen previously, the figures looked like mortal men and women, beautiful and harsh, but they looked like normal people. One even looked to be a halfling of all things. There was enough chaos in the vision that you wouldn't be able to have gotten a good look at any individual.
"We cannot show you an image of them." Vajra says. "We don't even know what they are, just that they are growing in power."
"We did send a ship, towards the West, as soon as that strange magic was detected there." Laeral informs you. "The hope was to get people on the ground , in that area, and see what they could learn, even if they did not try to attain the item there." She glances to Vajra who seems a bit smug. "Vajra, as she said to you, thought it a bad idea, and it proved to be."
"It is believed Tempest, or maybe another sea god, sent a storm sweeping across the Sea of Swords some days back." Vajra says with a nod. "We believe it was an attempt to sink any ship these beings might be using."
"Our ship went down in that storm." Laeral continues. "We didn't want to risk sending another.
"And we know it did not stop the beings." Laeral says, drawing attention back to her. "When these beings reach the area in question, the sense of the strange magic vanishes. It is how we know these beings are still out there, and moving to reclaim more of their power."
"As far as the griffins go, you are free to speak to the stablemaster here and see if they will sell you any." Laeral says with a glance to those asking. "As your companion said though, some of you might be a bit too big for a griffin to carry."
"We do not have access to an airship here and now." Laeral continues, looking to Valor. "There are ships we can get a hold of, but they will take time to get here. If it is needed, I will call on a few favors and see about getting one here, but I am not sure we can wait for it to arrive before you head out, if another magic surge is detected before then."
Senna tries to take in all the information given. If travelling to the existing spots is not an option they would have to wait. Clearly not something this group likes doing.
To try and stay busy until the next surge she tries to get a list in her head to see what might be helpfull, or at least to plan for.
Are there shops that sell scrolls to protect us from the breath of such dragons? Or perhaps you can provide some means to keep us safer on our journey.
She looks to the group once more. Perhaps some of you can speak with the stablemaster for transportation. I have a horse if needed. Meanwhile i will try and gather magical means of protection.
Sighing, Ssej speaks up again, "Sso we know we need to sseek transsportation and the kind that movess fasst, however we have no idea in which direction we need to travel. We need to figure out where we need to go firsst before we buy any meanss of travel. Buying a wagon and horssess would be pointlessss if the next direction is acrossss the ssea."

I would assssume Laeral that if our desstination iss to the north, you could transsport uss to Silverymoon, your sisters city and then we could leave fromm there?"

"I can speak to the stablemaster, see what they can do for us." Ichika offers, "They may have some larger, stronger breed that can support our needs."
(( Kerah can fly himself, so we only to find a big one for Yashin, right? How much do goliaths normally weigh? Worst case the griffon is encumbered and its speed drops by 10 feet, which should still be a lot faster than horse, I think. ))
"As my brilliant friend here says, we should at least be able to teleport to other cities, no?"asks Aio, looking at the Blackstaff.
"Is it possible you have access to objects taken from other locations like the see of moving ice recently that could be used for a proper [Tooltip Not Found]?"
"If it comes to needing teleportation, we can look into it." Vajra says with a glance to Laeral. "But that won't be for this trip. Maybe next time, if it is absolutely needed, but we feel we have enough time right now, especially if the gods are going to be working to slow these beings down on the open sea."
"Given time we could set up a safe teleportation destination." Laeral adds in. "The issue is that, unless the location in question is forewarned of your arrival, or we have worked with our people in the area ahead of time, then a group like you showing up is going to cause more issues than it would solve." She shakes her head. "Since we cannot know where this new place is located, we cannot do the work needed to insert you magicly, not without drawing a lot of attention, that we don't know if these beings will become aware of. Keeping you off their radar is likely going to be very important."
“I shall accompany you to the stablemaster, Ichika. I would like to look at these animals myself, as it appears I am among the larger and heavier of the group. I am used to walking during most of my travels, but that would not be wise given the current race. If nothing else, perhaps we can get a wagon and extra horses to help us travel longer hours.” Yashin pauses “We don’t know how fast these others can travel, we should plan on long days and hard rides. If we can manage passage on an airship in the future I do have some talents that can help make sure the wind is always in our favor and perhaps speed us along. Something to consider.”
(He stands to move to the stable as soon as the meeting is over and Ichika is ready to move on.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"If the gods are trying to slow them down already. it may not be long. Let hurry and figure out our means of transportation. We are heading out on the road at the first signal," says Brock eating a bit more food before he starts his stroll to the stables. After hearing the prices on the griffons he quickly decides to buy a pair of horses and tries to convince the others that at this point a wagon would be better. He also spots a nice lute in a store. Purchases it and begins tuning the instrument as he waits for the others.
Ssej sighs again, "I prefer to stay on my feet to travel but I guess bringing some food as transport is not a bad idea, at least it won't spoil and tastes better than the normal provisions." As Ssej makes to go out with those visiting the stable to purchase a mount.
After acquiring a mount, he will move back to the tavern to enjoy what it has to offer and listen in to the conversations that take place inside.
After the initial meeting, Aio Vanthis accompanies some of the others to the stables to pick out a fine horse for himself so as not to overburden the wagon. He finds one that is strong but fast and sleek, preferring speed over power to carry his lithe elven frame.
He also spends time at the Hall of Justice memorizing the teleportation circle there for a swift return to Waterdeep if needed.
Otherwise the elf magically changes the color of his armor to a more common, drab look, tucks his shinier and more valuable items away in his pockets, bag of holding or beneath his cloak and sets out on a walk about the city, never having been here before. Eventually he returns to the Yawning Portal to rest and get to know his new companions better.
When the group is together Aio seems to enjoy a bit of playful sarcasm directed at Brock, and reasserts his interest in Senna's background/lineage.
As the others leave the tavern to get ready for their next step Senna puts on the cowl of her cloak again and goes out into the city to try and find some scrolls that could help in the journey ahead.
She will also try to find the place where the Order of the Gauntlet members are within the city and make sure they send a message to Neverwinter to inform her superiors that she is tasked with a mission of great importance and will keep them updated once she has learned more.
