I am looking for 3 more players to join a game of Lost Mines of Phandelver.
Gundren Rockseeker has hired you to escort a cart of supplies from Neverwinter to Phandalin. He and his bodyguard, Sildar Hallwinter, have travelled ahead to attend to business. You were told that you would be paid 10 gold upon the safe delivery of the supplies to Barthens Provisions. You find yourselves travelling upon the High Road with a collection of other hired hands.
Characters will be Level 1 with XP leveling. I do not have share content capabilities, so you will need to create characters within your own purchased material. Characters must be created using standard array or point buy. Only official content, please!
This will be played over Discord. I am in EST, and will be available multiple times a day. (I do have a 8 to 5 day job, and may not be able to post during this time frame on a regular basis). I expect players to post at least once a day, but I would prefer more to keep play moving. There will be days that are slower /faster than others.
If your interested, please post below with the following:
Character Name:
Character Race and Class:
Brief backstory of how they know Gundren or came to be in his employment.
D&D experience:
Fun fact about you:
A little about me...I am a new DM (so applicants must have patience) currently DMing for Sunless Citadel. I am also a mom of 3 children, pbp allows me to meet up with people to play D&D without needing to schedule time away from my family.
Brief backstory of how they know Gundren or came to be in his employment. Mully got (somewhat accidentally) involved in an unsavoury business scheme run by one of Gundren‘s associates and now ows a debt (the 10 gold and then some) to the Rockseeker business.
D&D experience: I am a beginner, but am reasonably familiar with the system and very willing to educate myself.
Fun fact about you: I have played RPGs on and off since the early 90s.
Brief backstory: Gundren is an old family friend. He helped my family restart our smithing business in Mirabar after orcs conquered our original home of Sundabar about ten years ago. In exchange, we promised him a favor that he could call at any time - now he has summoned me to fulfill that debt and join him in his expedition.
D&D Experience: I've played for over a decade and am well-versed in the rules. I also run/have participated in several PbPs on discord and am pretty familiar with the Avrae bot commands.
Fun fact about me: I wrote a musical based on Critical Role for a school project.
Character Race and Class: Variant Human, Divine Soul Sorcerer (might take a level or two in bloodhunter, depending on how the story develops)
Brief backstory of how they know Gundren or came to be in his employment: Aster was the Doctor of phandalin and good at that. He was recruited by the military as a healer but after some time he had to "quit" and is now trying to return to phandalin. He heard that a dwarf needed people to escort some wares there and thought he'd tag along
D&D experience: On/Off DMing a home game. I have a decent amount of pbp experience as player
Fun fact about you: I try to make diverse characters but always end up with casters, mostly wizards. And those are almost always diviners or transmuters.
I am interested. Here is a brief summary. (Working to get character on D&D Beyond.)
Character Name: Darien Amblestaff
Character Race and Class: Human (variant) Warlock
Brief backstory of how they know Gundren or came to be in his employment. Darvin is a young man from a noble family that does business with Gundren. He overhears that he is looking for hirelings to escort a shipment to Phandalin. Darvin thinks it would be the perfect opportunity to slip out of Neverwinter and try to seek out his own fortunes.
D&D experience: Played quite a bit some time ago (earlier than 5e) - both DM and player. (And played non-D&D games.) Some recent 5e experience including PbP.
Character Name: Nenrak Race & Class: Tiefling Rogue Backstory: Nenrak seemed to appear spontaneously and all at once in the city of Neverwinter, extremely eager to look for work while keeping one eye over her shoulder. While scouring boards at taverns and wine sinks, she ran into Gundren who was looking for capable employees. D&D Experience: A few months, using Roll20/Discord
Fun fact about myself: I've been roleplaying/collaborative writing in forums and IM/PM/DM for over twenty years.
I will admit upfront I am a very recent newcomer to D&D5e, so please bear with me if my character has something... 'Wrong' with it :D
Also I do have an active discord account, but never played using that medium - hope that is not a big issue?
Character Name: Reknar
Character Race and Class: Half-Elf Bard
Brief backstory of how they know Gundren or came to be in his employment:
My concept is a no-nonsense ex-army sergeant coming back from his tour of duty, and looking for odd jobs - hopefully we can assume he is an old acquaintance of Gundren Rockseeker and thus a possible choice for assisting in escorting the caravan?
I imagine the character as someone who has been through some tough moments in his life. One of the things he has learned in recent years is a strong arm and a nice blade will usually not be enough to win you a scuffle on its own - you need to use your brain. And if you manage to have a handful of people you can trust with you, then you have got a real chance to succeed.
He has been in prison, and served in the military - at the end of it all he came out acting rugged and callous at first sight. Those who care to look a bit deeper however, are many times surprised at the lengths he will go to stand by the ones he believes in.
Crunch wise... I was not 100% sure :) I am thinking a martial bent character, but with as many options as possible, a tactical mind, etc. So I decided to go with a Bard (eventually College of Valor) - I have a link here(let me know if it works).
Character Bond:Someone saved my life on the battlefield. To this day, I will never leave a friend behind.
Character Flaw: Reknar has a very hard time developing trust in others. He will sometimes seem callous, and even more so to those he respects the most. He has lost too many friends in his life.
D&D experience: As far as Fantasy Settings/Systems are concerned, I have played almost exclusively D&D up until 4e, and then changed to Pathfinder. I have been feeling a nostalgia about D&D again, so decided to give 5e a whirl.
Fun fact about you: I have two daughters, but somehow never managed to get them into RPG. I have however, irrevocably contaminated them with my MARVEL nerdiness, so I am as proud as can be :D
