Sweeps grunts in acknowledgement of the suggestions from Sunny and Amadi. Both raised good points, this crowded square was no place to draw attention to themselves and there was no guarantee that the hooded figures had any interest in the party “Very well, then. Let us find a more secluded route and if they should follow us, we can deal with them without raising an alarm.”
Sweeps leads the group through some less traveled areas, toward some old, abandoned stables that may provide cover if it came to a fight. He keeps a sharp eye on the hooded figures, trying to see if they are following the group. Perception: 19.
Sylvio nods at the other’s suggestion of dealing with this quietly. Less eyes mean less witnesses to whatever was about to happen. He follows sweeps gladly and begins looking for a way to hide himself from the ones following. If he can get out of view perhaps he can circle around behind these fools that would try to sneak up on them.
Sweeps relays that which he had noticed, the three strange figures acting as if looking for someone or something, to his companions. Sunny cast her eyes upon the strangers, looking for any signs of intention. The tortle manages to see every minutia of their behavior. First she notices by the format of their faces that they were not one of the guards the five had met earlier. Neither by the Castle nor by the Gundwynd Vila. Then she notices the small differences in each individual. The taller of them had a dark, bushy beard and large shoulders, the marks of the type of warrior that relied in primal strength, very much like her genasi companion. He moved his head too fast to notice something indicating that perception was not his specialty.
The second of the tree was slim and moved with precision and suavity. It immediately remembered the ranger of Sylvio’s way of moving but changing his location all the time it was unlikely he would notice the group. The last and shorter of the tree was different. He moved between the higher points of the street and rested his eyes longly. He would have noticed the group, Sunny was sure, if he didn’t need to keep track of his friends location.
She asks the barbarian for an alternate route, far from the crowd and he start to guide, suggesting a direct approach. Amadi follows, advising against it. Gabriel and Sylvio follow in silence. A second passes, then a minute, then five, and it is clear to the adventurers that they are not being followed. They completely lost what could have been a trio of pursuers.
Notes:
@Everyone, you have evaded the three figures. If the party so wishes you can assume that your characters reached the Field Ward. Otherwise you can still interact on the way there.
"I'm glad they are gone" says Gabriel when the group are satisfied that the tails have been lost. "We can focus on the task ahead now, stop more innocents from being lost"
Sunny quickly relays the details of the figures to the others. "It doesn't seem that they belonged to any of the groups we've met so far. Not the Guards or the Noble house. I suppose it's possible that they weren't even looking for us, but I don't think we're that lucky. Let's move on quickly." She glances over to Sweeps, "Do we have a location within the Field Ward? Chewy should be very useful tracking for burial sites but I don't imagine they'd be on the main streets - perhaps tucked in an alley or yard?"
Sweeps considers Sunny’s question for a moment, thinking back again to what he saw from the mansion. “The crow seemed to appear from an open field near the city’s eastern wall. The Trollyard I wager.” Sweeps leads the party toward the Trollyard. “Thats a good idea to use Chewy. Any other thoughts on how to search when we arrive? Big area for a small box to hide in. Perhaps we can also see if there have been any mysterious deaths in this area” Although Sweeps knew that deaths, mysterious or otherwise, were not uncommon in the slums of the city, and were little noticed and less talked about.
As the group reaches the edge of the Field Ward, Sunny attempts to relay to Chewy to look for anything that doesn't seem to 'fit' within the area. (the environment doesn't seem to accept as normal - animals skirting it, people avoiding, etc) anything buried or death in general. She keeps on alert for these things herself. Then thinking of her commands to Chewy. "As I pondered how to search for what we seek to give command to Chewy, I realized that as a tracker I look for things that the environment doesn't readily accept. Animals would skirt a suspicious area, people might even avoid. These things might be apparent to you too. Thought the forest is my area of expertise, it works similarly in others." then to Sweeps suggestion, "the community here could be of great help and likely have either gone to the authority for assistance and were refused it didn't out of fear of not being taken seriously. I tend to be too unusual for people to warm up to easily, but perhaps one of you?"
Amadi continues to move along with the others. "That's as good a place to start as any. As for information, I would suggest asking one of the street kids. They seem to know everything that is going on. Though many may be members of of a street gang or thieves' guild a bit of silver should get us some answers or maybe a lead."
As the group moves into the area he keeps as eye out for a likely street kid to ask for help.
Sylvio nods to Amadi “Now you are-a thinking like someone from-a the streets. The children are often the first-a to notice anything strange-a. Adults underestimate them and-a discount their fears but-a many times the children see what-a the adults ignore.” And he thinks to himself, especially in these poor areas where the children are living on their own and taking care of each other.
Sunny kneels down and pats Chewy encouraging him to take on a more welcoming demeanor as he helps in the search knowing that many children are fond of dogs and adjusts her pouch to a less accessible location as they walk.
Evading the not so attentive eyes of the three strangers, the group of adventurers find their way to the Field Ward. They enter the area following a crowd of servants returning from a long day of hard work under a wealth master. Not attention is drawn and inside the slums the five walk freely. Their strategy is decided, to find children on the street.
Sylvio, you especially, know the wisdom of that choice. Many criminal organizations deploy foundlings as spies. Smugglers use them to delivery products unnoticed, from drugs to poisons. The lower banditry deploys them as scouts and even take them into their robberies. Even in a city as uncaring as Waterdeep the guards are inclined to let a youngster go unpunished. Not only that, but amongst the guarded folk of the ward, the small ones where amongst the few individuals able to often go unnoticed. A special kind of invisibility that allowed them to hear even the whispers.
Amadi, you focus your keen eyes in search of such informants and as soon as you enter the Fieldway you find a child wrapped in rags, sitting by a squalid building that going by the smell served as a tannery during the day hours. In front the kid lays a bowel and inside of it a few coins glitter under the flickering light of the many torches burning along the dilapidated streets. A beggar, you notice. And so young too. Sadness take hold of your heart before your mind brings in reason. They probably spent the entirety of heir days sitting there, watching, listening. They probably were the perfect source of information. At least when it comes to rumors.
Notes: In case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
Sunny sees Amadi focus on the child and approaches carefully, Chewy lagging behind a little. "Hello little one." She says quietly to the child sprinkling a couple copper into their bowl and kneeling down. "Would you help me?" She pauses a moment and gestures to Chewy. "My dog has smelled something strange here. But I do not understand what bothers him. You spend a lot of time here it seems. Has something happened recently? Something not normal around here? I wish to help if I can."

"Sweeps do you have an alternate route so that we may test their intentions?" Sunny asks quickly.

Amadi also moves to follow Sweeps lead.

Sunny unfamiliar with the streets they now travel, keeps close to the others attempting subtle glances behind to keep aware of the figures' positions.
