"I wasn't aware that a minor bit of magic use counted as a scuffle these days but foreign rules I guess." Creed says before focusing back on the conversation being had by the group. "I think it would be best to find out more about what they're doing and what they're planning first. Kicking their 'arse' as you say would be satisfying, yes, but what happens if theyre part of something larger and by doing so you've lost your clue to that information. You all really should slow down and look at the bigger picture before acting."

" I was kinda hoping we could do that afterwards during the interrogation part of proceedings.....but your right, I'm no longr part of the Pale Guard and they'd probably frown on that sort of vigilantism.", she finished slightly dejected.
" I reserve the right to stab them if they cause trouble though......from what my Gramps said this lots boss tried to destroy the world once. Nothing wrong with a bit of proactive self defence."
" Did you want to head out and check their cart while we've got an eye on them in here?"
Eyes widen as Love takes in the stories being told, and she leans in, elbows on the table. "Wow," she whispers. Then she wiggles a little in her seat. "Wow! Cultists! Oh, this is gonna make a great story!" Her voice stays relatively quiet, but the excitement is audible.
She pulls her piece of pie close, taking a bite of it and making a curious noise. Her parents never really baked with blackberries, so this is new to her. But it's a good new. She takes another bite and speaks through the pie, "Well, if they got a room here, we might wanna wait till they go to bed. Cause then the stablehands and everyone will have gone to bed, too, and we won't have to be quite so sneaky."
Whilst the party debates the hooded figures rise from their seats and disappear upstairs. This leaves the party and two other straggling patrons alone in the tavern.
"That'll be a silver a piece for letting a communal space or eight for a room....shared mind you we're nearly full up," Velma squawkes from the bar.
It's fairly late now. It's a dark evening with hardly a moon in the sky.
Creed looks to her, a little astonished, before looking around to the others. "Why me? I'm a scholar. I was for taking the not direct approach and watching them. This seems very direct, which has already gone wrong."

( I think its just that Lillian and Creed have different definitions of ' direct' in their heads. To her stabbing them in the face immediately because they're apocalyptic cultists plotting to kill the world is direct and going through their stuff is the most indirect thing she can do in good conscience. :) )
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Come now, Creed”Amihan encourages him “Watching and observing does not always give you the information you need. Sometimes you have to be more direct in your search and go out and find that which you seek.” She looks over at Lillian and the others “I think we should check out the cart. Let’s go to the stables”
Amihan and Lillian make their way from the tavern into the evening. Once outside Amihan is able to blend into their surroundings but Lillian is noticed by the stable hands as she walks into the stables as the two teens are watering the horses.
"Oh hello," says the dark skinned halfling that resembles a younger Velma with a mop of thick dark curls on their head as they pump water into a bucket. "Can I help you," they ask with a curiously cocked eyebrow.
Lillian kneels down on one knee once inside the stable, aand speaks with the halfling, " Hi, my names Lillian. You might remember me as a member of the Pale Guard."
" Anyways, we're going to check through that wagon there. Now fair enough, you might say thats someone elses property, and your right. But we're just gonna look and not take anything and keep in mind that the owners of that particular cart are a bunch of evil necromantic cultists that are intent on sucking this world into the Abyss and eating all of our brains into the bargain."
" Are we good?", she kept a smile on her face but her eyes were hard and uncompromising.
While Lillian is distracting and intimidating the stablehands, Amihan stealthily moves to the wagon, looks for any identifying characteristics or markings and, carefully lifting up the tarp, looks to see what was inside.
Since the others left Creed has been sitting and absentmindedly reading a small tract written in Zemnian. His eyes flick up from the page to the cultists and then back again before he replies. "I think it best that we do not directly engage with them any more than we have to for now. We have already acted quite suspiciously, best to let them drink a bit and forget about us or perhaps just dismiss us as strange, foreign folk. The more of their attention we command the likelier they are to watch us as we do them, which will make our job harder."

Lillian successfully grabs the attention of the teens who look equally scared yet fascinated by her.
"They seemed a bit odd yes," the halfling teen girl says with a scratch of her nose.
The human not however stares at Lillian with scarlet cheeks and a dumb smile.
At the wagon Amihan deftly maneuvers the tarp....

Inside the tavern the other patrons retire leaving Corrin and Creed the lone members of the public in the bar. Velma looks expectantly at the two.
"Settle up eh and shove off! You and your friends need to turn in before I lock up," Velma explains coming from the bar and toddling towards the front door.
Creed puts his pamphlet in his bag. "Very well. Is it possible you still have an open room I could rent for the night? After the whole episode of the bear attack I find myself a bit unwilling to sleep in the woods."

While the others are out at the stables, Corrin will stay inside with Creed.
Sitting eating the pie left on the table, Corrin says to Creed, "I feel really bad about my use of magic earlier. I think I may have overstepped."
Corrin puts her head down a little. "Even if they are cultists, I guess they deserve a little bit of privacy. Do you think I should apologize?"
