Hi, coming in with a last minute submission - hope there is still time ;)
How much D&D experience do you have? PbP experience?
I have been playing D&D for a long time, D&D Red Box first, and then from AD&D 2e up until 4e. Almost zero experience with 5e though (hope that is not an issue). Arrived on the PbP scene about 8 years ago, mainly playing Pathfinder. I really like the PbP medium, and the fact I sit in front of the PC for most of my working day helps a lot.
What is your (the player's) favorite animal? Cats and dogs. Cannot decide.
Backstory: Telurion comes from an orphan background in the streets, after his parents both died of extreme poverty and sickness - he expected to find kindness and compassion from the neighborhood and other merchants who many times rubbed shoulders with his parents, but he was wrong... Eventually he turned to a life of petty crime just so he could survive, but things were not going well even so. He was 'rescued' by Talian - a wandering warrior who took pity on the starving child, and who would become his mentor in those early years. She taught him the value of trust and friendship when he was at his worse, and brimming with rage for those who did nothing for his parents when they so desperately needed help. She taught him not only to wield a blade and shield, but also to look past the deviant behavior of those he resented, and find the true meaning and fear in people's hearts. She taught him the meaning of being there for others, and raising a hand for those who could not do so for themselves. More than mentor and apprentice, they became friends - Talian always said there was much more to him than met the eye - he was starting to believe it... And then she was gone,. leaving him with only a cryptic farewell note (which I will detail more as/if we move along), and an apology for stealing away like a thief in the night. She wrote it had to be done, but did not explain anything further, writing only that he was prepared to face the world at large, and should not hesitate in doing so. Telurion managed to find from a guard on watch in which direction Talian had followed out of the city, and in the next day he departed after her without thinking twice. So far he has had no luck in finding any clues about her whereabouts, but he does not intend to give up!
Personality Traits: I’ve lost too many friends, and I’m slow to make new ones. I can stare down a hell hound without flinching.
Additional Description/Detail: Telurion does not look like your average knight in shining armor paladin - he has dark disheveled hair, and piercing deep brown eyes. After having been through some tough times in his life, he has a grim posture for those who meet him initially. It takes him a long time to make friends, but once he does, he is a steadfast companion. His gear is not always in pristine condition, but he is trying to improve on his discipline.
RP example: (When asked about what his 'skills' are:)
"Skills... Well, I've traveled a lot, so picked up bits and pieces here and there" - Telurion nodded - "I know how to handle myself decently enough in a fight, whether from afar or up close and personal" - and pats the longsword closeby.
"Lived in the streets a good part of my life, with all the good and bad it brings" - he adds, absent mindedly rubbing some sort of tattoo in his arm, and not chuckling anymore -"I can hunt and make a fire outdoors, bark orders when things are a mess, and stick to the plan when it is well drawn out, much like a soldier would I guess" - the man shrugs.
"A good friend of mine told me once I wasn't as bad with words as I thought - couple years back I wouldn't have any use for them, but nowadays... Let's just say words have gotten me out of enough messes to deserve at least some consideration in my book"
"Then again I could say whatever I wanted, and maybe you guys would believe me, right?" - he looks at the gathered group - "Best take me along for a while so you can see for yourself. Deal?" - and nods.
----------
So yeah, that is the basic plan for Telurion - he is chasing after his mentor, all the while learning about himself and his recently discovered divine powers. He is not even sure if this was Talian's plan all along, to make him once and for all leave the town where he has been through so many things, and that sad chapter behind him, to travel the world - something he had always been hesitant about. But for him it matters not, he will find out. In the meantime his travels give him mixed emotions - curiosity, hesitation at times, but above all a big trepidation and enthusiasm regarding what lies ahead. In the meantime he has a strong arm, has completed a recruitment tour in the army, and now has been taking jobs as they present themselves, not only for sustenance, but also because his spirit is seasoned by a will to adventure, almost as much as the will to do the right thing.
How much D&D experience do you have? PbP experience? I've been a DM for the last 3 years, and have played PBP for several campaigns. I have both played and DM'd PBP.
What is your (the player's) favorite animal? Owl
Character Idea: Noble Leonine Sorcerer
Character Name: Charlot, of house Snowsilver
Race/Class (no homebrew or UA please): Leonine Sorcerer
Background: Noble
Short backstory: Last of a Noble Bloodline. Has decided to quest to reestablish noble connections and help improve the economy of her people.
Traits (bond/ideal/flaw/general personality)--Feel free to write your own or use the ones in the books:
Personality Traits: Despite my noble birth, I do not place myself above other folk. We all have the same blood. The common folk love me for my kindness and generosity.
Ideals: Noble Obligation. It is my duty to protect and care for the people beneath me. (Good)
Bonds: The common folk must see me as a hero of the people.
Flaws: I hide a truly scandalous secret that could ruin my family forever.
Something interesting/unique about your character: The truly scandalous secret is that my people think my family was descendant from a noble silver dragon. I have discovered secret records that say we have actually descended from an Ancient White Dragon. The people can never know this truth or they may revolt against my family.
