Lyra re-appears suddenly, gasping.  The black tendril reaching out from her harmonica re-attaches to the non-Lich instantly (Hexblade's curse), thicker than ever and growing.  The giant shadowy wings form behind her.  Her eyes are dead, flat black now, as are her lips.  She turns slowly towards the non-Lich, deep yet feminine voice grating like the quork of a monstrous raven:

"Did you miss me?"

Batair

Batair slashes at the lich twice with his weapon, but both strikes miss.

Tree

The Tree continues its fruitless bashing at the wall of force.

Kosmos

Jumping away from the lich, Kosmos sends a blast of radiant power at the mage. The light strikes home, but does not appear to do as much damage as would be expected. The lich cackles. "I sent your companion..." His laughter is interupted though as...

Lyra

Lyra reappears in her same position as before. "How could..." The lich whines, sounding a bit pitiful now, as Lyra is able to break free of his magic.

The Lich lifts a hand, casting a spell...
Synaptic Static
DC 19 Int save for all of you, taking 31 damage on failure, 15 on a success. Note the spell has other affects on a failure, you have muddled thoughts for the next minute, subtracting 1d6 from all attacks, ability checks, and concentration saves.

Batair and Donlas are back up again...

Lyra uses her final 5th level slot to Counterspell the non-Lich's Synaptic Static

((The non-Lich will probably Counterspell Lyra's Counterspell and replenish the arcane ward, but at least he won't be able to cast Shield for one more round since he'll have used up his reaction.))

((Batair and those within 10' of Batair don't forget to add the +3 bonus to your saving throw!  And Lyra/Kosmos/Batair should also add a 1d4 from Bless.  You can use your 1d10 Bardic inspirations on your save too on top of all that!))

Yes the Lich does counterspell the attempt to block his casting. Everyone go ahead and give me your saves. Remember bless and wall of force will require concentration checks. if you fail the save vs synaptic static, then make sure to subtract a 1d6 from those concentration checks.

If a blow lands, he actively chooses to use divine smite to deal additional damage. Radiant - 5

Donlas isn't effected much by the spell, but takes a fair amount of damage. Not enough to keep his concentration on Shadow blade though. So he takes a few steps and throws the psychic blade at the lich:

In case of 20 or lower Donlas would use the bardic inspiration (which he wouldn't have used with that 23 int save): 7.

After the throw he moves back behind the tree as he uses his bonus action to have the blade reappear in his hand.

Donlas

Donlas steps into the open, throwing a blade of energy at the lich. The shadow blade hits, dealign damage, but not as much as would be expected. Donlas then steps back out of sight behind the tree.

Batair

Batair strikes at the lich, but cannot land a blow.

Kosmos and Lyra

Please post actions. The lich is looking wounded now, but still has a good deal of fight left in them.

Lyra stays out of melee with the non-Lich but within 10' of Batair.

Since she has 6 unused 1st level spell slots, she uses a bonus action to cast Healing Word on Donlas:  heal 6

This means she can only cast cantrips using her action, which she does with Eldritch Blast at the non-Lich, rolled above.

Kosmos, knowing he is about to be licked with fire, heads in anyways to attack with his quarterstaff.  Armed with bless and inspiration, he attacks and tries to stun the thing as well with a ki point.

Attack: 19 Damage: 8 + bless of 1

Attack: 26 Damage: 9 + bless of 2

Using another ki point for his bonus action to use flurry of blows

Attack: 21 Damage: 11 + bless of 2

Attack: 9 Damage: 11 + bless of 4

Batair's Saves

I rolled Batair's saves on his character sheet. He made the Int save exactly, rolling a 19. He then made the Concentration save, rolling a 23. Bless is still up and Batter take sonly 15 damage.

Kosmos

Kosmos moves back in to strike at the lich. The lich casts a spell... shield blocking all but one of Kosmos's strikes. Kosmos takes 8 fire damage as he strikes the lich. The lich though manages to keep from being stunned with ease.

Lyra

Lyra sends three blasts of eldritch power sizzling across and 2 of which strike past the shield to hit the lich. She then sends healing power into Donlas.

Lich

The lich is seeming quite hurt now and calls on his magic once more. it casts Synaptic Static once more.
Everyone, DC 19 Int save, 33 damage. If you fail the save, then 1d6 penalty to attacks, ability checks, and concentration saves for the next minute.

Group's Initiative

Batair, Donlas, Kosmos, and Lyra can post actions, that is the initiative order if you want to wait for others to post first. I've been doing Donlas or Batair first, as they rolled the same initiative.

((Question - how can the non-Lich cast Shield on Kosmos' turn if his reaction reset at the start of his turn and he already used his reaction this turn to Counterspell Lyra's Counterspell on the first Synaptic Static during his turn?  He shouldn't get his reaction back until the start of his next turn again.  See more details in OOC.))

Donlas decides another booming blade is in order, so he walks up to the Lich and casts booming blade on his psychic blade:

Attack: 11 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. psychic damage + 5 thunder damage.

Reduce above attack roll with 2

Before he walks back to the behind the tree, using a BA dash if needed.

End turn int save: 28
