Those in the phalanx lash out with improvised and dulled weapons, inflicting not insignificant wounds on the enemy, though this slows them down not a bit. The armored guard crashes into the fray with his warhammer, lashing out and cracking flesh and bone beneath its sturdy metal head.
Fianna, you are up, followed by Argentus, then the enemy.
Finn gently drops the lantern she had in her hand and instead draws a dagger. Maybe it was happenstance, maybe it was Argentus' call, but it was one of the two Runia Daggers she had picked up earlier. She pauses, then runs up into range and throws the dagger at whichever of these black-gooey dwarves seems most engaged and distracted by the prisoners.
The knife bites deep into the previously injured monster facing the phalanx in the middle of the room. With a rubbery squelch it sinks deep, though its target does not so much as acknowledge the damage (1)

Argentus:
Seeing the resistance of the creatures to Finn's piercing weapon and the damage they have taken from the dulled weapons and hammer, Argentus says, "Looks like crushing weapons are the order of the day, Finn!"
Raging and closing towards the enemy with his long, broad-bladed Doru, Argentus flips the blade a quarter turn and swings a mighty blow at the injured goo-boy, striking at it with the weighted flat of the blade with a mighty blow!
Doru strikes, the blow reverberating along the injured enemy nearest you. (3)
With a rhaspy snarl, the creature lashes out at Argentus!
Attack: 18 Damage: 2
Towards the middle of the room, the two other creatures lash out at the phalanx, reaching past shields to swipe at faces and exposed necks. The phalanx holds, but looks battered and on the point of breaking, even with the reinforcement of the armored guard from the side.
After a moment, something seems to stir from within the two battered humanoid creatures. The black ichor, now pouring quite freely from gaping and bruised wounds, takes on an unusual elasticity and attempts to swipe at the nearest enemy target!
At the middle phalanx, the black ichor forms a sort of limb with its own direction and strikes at the unarmored dwarf at the far end of the phalanx, avoiding its shield with a sinuous reach and pummeling the dwarf, nearly knocking him off his feet.
Another attack, this one from the wounded "goo-boy" is directed at Argentus!
With a mighty crack, the armored dwarf pounds down with his hammer, knocking the wounded foe in front of the phalanx to the floor - one remains there standing, and another in front of Argentus!
Grunting at the multiple attacks landing on him, Argentus slashes with his magic ebon blade right at the base of this goo where it emanates from the Dwarven corpse-like being. Could this be the corruption driving the animals mad and causing them to attack his tribe?
Doru attack at the goo: Attack: 13 Damage: 9
(If that is a Crit or takes kills the goo=> bonus attack)
Doru attack at the goo: Attack: 21 Damage: 11

“I only have the standby kind!” Finn retorts even as she opens her pack and pulls out a flask of oil… She aims to splash a goodly amount onto one of the Goo-Dwarves before grabbing the lantern again and crashing it over their head, hopefully igniting them into a shambling goo-devouring blaze…
(this may take more than 1 turn, up to DM… a couple improvised weapon attack rolls below…)
Finn is able to thoroughly douse the two dwarves in the middle, as even the fallen one seemed to be leaking the dangerous black ichor. The other standing dwarf in the phalanx catches your drift and, grabbing a torch brought by his fellows, sets them alight. Their scream is nearly as off-putting as their previous silence, and the two of them go up writhing in flame. The regular dwarves scramble back as the two infected lash out wildly in their last moments before slumping to the ground, the ichor catching light along with their pale bodies. The remaining infected dwarf observes the flame and breaks off combat, rushing towards a door on the far side of the one the regular dwarves evidently entered from, screeching a keening wail all the way.
The armored dwarf holds out a hand and cries out a syllable, and a red light thuds into the retreating figure just as it leaves the doorway. It does not slow down.
Doru bites deep once more, and the dwarf seems to stumble. The red light from the armored guard strikes the dwarf as well, and it goes down, to one knee and then to the floor, where the body lies still, even as the goo seemingly slings itself forward towards the door, and out of sight with a sickening lurch. Combat ends with the sound of bubbling ichor as it recoils in flame, and a sigh of relief from the other guards.
Ichor still dripping from his hammer, the armored guard salutes you from the middle ground and bows.
"My thanks, and well sent! It is good to see that the Prince received our message at last! We have survivors back in the cells, though your reinforcements should be sufficient to reclaim the prison for Runia!"
Breathing heavily as the threat passes, Argentus staggers a bit as the pain of his wounds reach him. Realizing what the dwarf is saying, he responds, "No message has reached the prince to our knowledge--though we came from the city on the prince's business to question a prisoner," as he gestures to Finn and the prince's badge of authority she bears.

“Should… should we chase it?” Finn asks a bit tentatively having seen the black fluid like substance seemingly move on its own and head out the door. Even as she speaks she breaks off a leg or plank from an already broken table and shoved one end in the fire.
“Oh, yeah… Hi! Finn Of’Gren,” Finn says absently sheathing her sword and digging around for the sigil. “We are totally official, but not the answer you were hoping for. Sorry.” Once she does dig it out she’ll toss the emblem over for inspection, still wanting her improvises torch/club to get nice and fiery.
“We saw nobody going the other way on the road… how many you send? And when? But… umm.. should we chase the goo? How much is there? What in blazes is going on here?!?” Finn may have lost her chill a bit at the end there…
Having checked on the survivors, Argentus is chagrined when Finn mentions about the goo—there is still an enemy about!
“Right, the goo!” He says, rushing out of the room after the goo to see if it is still nearby, but he doesn’t go too far—wandering off alone here seems like a bad idea.

Fianna:
15 for Initiative…
Fianna has nothing particularly heroic or rousing to say. Her jaw has dropped on its own and her hand tightened its grip on her rapier.
”For Runia” she hears shouted next to her and she thinks Oh, we’re doing this then….
The armored guard nearly stops in his tracks, but hollers an ecstatic "For Runia!" in reply. The phalanx clashes again against the monsters. (150)

Runia Dagger Attack: 23 Damage: 8 plus 6 sneak attack damage...
Finn Of'Gren then back off to once again put as much room between here and these ichor spewing monstrosities as possible.
(holy damage, batman!)
