OOC: You are officially out of combat now. What would you like to do now?
Hearing the final goblin's death scream, Morgan grimaces, knowing she's got a LOT more work to do on controlling the force of her magic.
Looking about at the scene while moving Hrogar slowly closer, she's still on edge. She looks over to Cyrnair.
*We should investigate the woods close by, just to make sure there aren't more goblins. Four seems a small number for an ambush party.*
When the wagon finally reaches the location of the horses, she reins Hrogar to a stop and climbs down from her seat to get a closer look. Especially upon seeing that one of the horses is rather smaller than the other, she's going to be very specifically looking for any signs that would indicate if these horses belonged to Gundren and Sildar.
Investigation: 13
Alternatively, if the DM allows and these ARE in fact Gundren and Sildar's horses, it's possible Morgan would directly recognize them (or at least Gundren's). She's worked for Gundren a few times now, and her close bond with Hrogar means she would have spent a fair amount of time around the stables. If this is acceptable logic and the DM would still like an Intelligence Check to see if she remembers this detail in the moment, then here you go:20

Finally making it up to the scene, Gelin scolds the halfling, "Aye, ye daft fool. Yer lucky it was just goblins, coulda been somethin' much worse. Glad yer ok, worked out in the end." He pats Carodoc on the shoulder. "Any idea what happened here?" Gelin will look for tracks that might indicate where the horse's masters went.
Morgan: With your Investigation roll of the general area, you can tell that there are no more goblins currently within the area. It seems that this is a practiced routine of ambush however. As you look further into the woods where you downed the goblin, you can see further in that there is a rudimentary path through the woods leading north towards the beginnings of the mountains just north of here. As you look at the smaller horse, you do recognize it as Gundren's horse, though it looks more like an overgrown pony if truth be told. (OOC: Standard Goblins only have 7 HP. With the Sacred flame, and your 5 damage, that was all she wrote.)
Baryeras: With your investigation check, you can tell that the horses were not dragged, but ambushed almost exactly where they lay. For something like this to happen, the goblins would have had to hit the horses first. There is signs of blood in the ground, though it is impossible to tell what is horse, and what is... anything else. There is slight drag marks going northward however. Whether it was dead or alive when it was dragged is not certain.
Gelin: You cant tell much, but you can tell that the horses did not move much further north. Even though the path is quite hard, it appears that their must have been some form of rain in this location over the past few days, because there are no additional prints from these horses that was moving southeast towards the village.
Morgan feels a weight drop in her stomach upon recognizing Gundren's pony, which further implies that the other horse must have belonged to Sildar.
*It was them,* she broadcasts to anyone within 30 feet of her. *This smaller one is Gundren's mount.*
She pauses in thought for a moment before looking about at each others, a firm look of determination in her eyes and ringing through her mental voice.
*We HAVE to find out what happened here.*
Stepping with a suddenly urgent sense of purpose, Morgan makes her way into the woods where the final goblin attempted to make his retreat, thereby discovering the mostly hidden northward path to the mountains. Upon finding this, she moves into range to speak with Cyrnair.
*I've found a path over here. I think it might lead to the goblins' home or camp.*
"Caradoc! Are you OK? What were you thinking? I came back and you were gone. I thought you'd taken the long way round through the woods, you could have been killed - haven't you ever been out of doors before?
Anyway, I'm glad you're alive. Wouldn't want Notker chasing me for that copper."
Baryeras' words jolt him from his staring and shaking. The halfling looks up at the ranger, mistaking urgency for anger, and begins to cry.
The dwarf's gruff affection makes him cry all the harder for a few seconds. Then he tugs a handkerchief from his waistcoat, wipes his face, and stands up.
He takes a deep breath, and the words rush out of him. "I'm sorry, everyone. Baryeras, I let you down and I'm sorry. It won't happen again. Everyone else, I put your lives in danger and I'm sorry. I will try really hard to do better next time."
He gets all that out in one breath, and while inhaling to continue, his breath catches as his tear-streaked gaze finds Frixori in their red cloak. He hurries to the tiefling and grasps their hand. "Are you an angel???"

The Path that you saw the goblin running on is not a cleared path, but more of a game trail of sorts. It goes through the woods. You may be able to get Hrogar through it, but definitely not the cart. The woods is fairly dense, and you can only see a small portion of this trail.
Frixori kneels down to one knee to get on eye level with the halfling, still grasping one of Caradoc's hand."Oh, dear, thank you, but I'm certainly no angel," she gives him a meek smile. Patting at her hood where her horns would be, "I don't think an angel would have these," you can hear the disgust rising in her voice. She's gets lost on her thoughts for a moment: Maybe one day that can change. I can't stand this cursed blood in my veins. Snapping back to her companion, she places her other hand to the halfling's cheek, "Can you please be a little more careful out there." She just gives a little kiss on his forehead, having appreciated being compared to an angel, then gets back to her feet. "Just use this a little more next time," she says as she wraps a her knuckles on the top of his head.
"I'd have to say we fared pretty well...except for one of us," Frixori gives a smile at Caradoc. "Besides, no of these got away to warn his friends, so we should have some measure of surprise.... However, I'd have to agree with our ranger here. Also, unless we can find a place to hide a horse and cart, I don't think it very wise to leave them here unattended at the side of the road."
The aasimar sees the logic on his companions arguments but he cannot help but feel uneasy with it.
“If we cannot take Htogar with us, and leaving the cart unnatended is not an option for it will be faiing our duties we must split. Some of us should scout ahead that trial and try to find the fate of our friends. I will not abandon them to captivy and slavery to the hands of goblins, or worse. At least we should investigate further and see if the goblin had a nearby camp and f they had captive our friends. Let’s find a place where you can stay and wait for us. If we haven’t return in a day continue the journey and assume the worst. Tell Hildred that I am sorry to have failed her in returning his father. “ he adds looking at Morgan “ who comes with me and who stays?”
"Not sure who we'd be deliverin' this cargo we're supposed ta protect if Gundren's been captured." Gelin nods toward Cyrnair, "Besides, fightin' some goblins makes a better tale... count me in."
Based on your time traveling, you can tell the road is about 3-4 hours travel based on your slower pace. It is roughly noon as of now, so if you rush, you could make it to the village in 1/2 the time with the cart.

“You are right. We should keep an eye open.”
Then he talks to the rest of the party.
“Are we all alright?”
While the others looks for clues, the aasimar will keep looking at the woods and guard the others.

Cyrnair turns aorund at Morgans’ words. He felt the same weight in his stomach.
“Yes. We must find them. Can the cart follow the north trek?”

I guess that's a question for the DM. CAN Hrogar and the wagon follow the north trek?
The Path that you saw the goblin running on is not a cleared path, but more of a game trail of sorts. It goes through the woods. You may be able to get Hrogar through it, but definitely not the cart. The woods is fairly dense, and you can only see a small portion of this trail.
Morgan takes a closer look at the trail before responding to Cyrnair.
*Not likely. Even getting Hrogar through without the wagon looks like it will be a challenge.*

Morgan nods her agreement. As much as she wants to know what's going on, the idea of leaving Hrogar unattended does NOT sit well with her.
Making her way back toward the slain horses, she indicates the scene with her arm as she speaks aloud.
"Are there any more clues to be found here?"
The aasimar sees the logic on his companions arguments but he cannot help but feel uneasy with it.
