The Sho'din's eyes tighten ever so slightly at Ky's display. Being within strict limitations of civility, there is nothing to call down, but you can tell he is irritated by the display. "May your home find... new roots Eva'din." He says in response to her customary greeting about the spring (Sorry guys... Jessica has some additional knowledge on this since our home campaign dealt a lot with the summer court in the feywild.)
"We have seen the storm... yes. We know it is not natural, but we did not know it was a Planar Rift." The Sho'din says, rubbing his chin in thought. "If only we had stronger magics. We could protect ourselves from this chaos."
In response to Ky saying they are headed there, he says to himself, quietly, but loud enough to be heard. "If you are headed there... Well good. You will do something good at least." More loudly he says, "It is well that you be on your way at dawn. We have enough to deal with without adding the madness an Eva'din showing up in my city will cause. Nah'Thair is struggling as it is with the influx of the Fey fleeing from Winter."
In response to Ky saying she will find her own inn, he says, "You would lower my eyes and bring shame to my house?" He asks irritably. "You would tear down all civility if you could Eva'din... No. I will provide you rooms at the "Emerald Laurel". Most of those with means have been staying at all of our available inns, but I have... reserved... the Diplomatic suite there. There a few bedrooms in there. You and your party can stay there for the night, and be away before dawn."
In regards to provisioning, "It is well that you will pay for our goods. We have little to spare. Our soldiers need much of what we make, but despite my urging, I cannot seem to conscript our Artificers to work for as party of my army. Perhaps with time I can... persuade them. Either way, I can offer you nothing but the room for the evening."
In response to the refugees, he says "They will be dealt with as needed. You will not find much in that rabble, but if you can give them enough coin to make way to anywhere else besides my forest floor, I would be... grateful. They strain my coffers and our guards."
As she introduces each of her companions, he greets each of you with various degrees of respect. Though none of you are "slighted", there is an air of "I am better then you" to much of it.
Carodoc: He greets you with a customary "May your House Bloom like the Spring." and moves on.
Cyrnair: He inclines his head as much as Ky did to him, "May the Light of the Dawnfather and the Moonweaver light your path. Bring Justice and light to the land."
Gelin: He greets you with the customary greeting, and adds, "Perhaps you will perform a song or 2 for me another time. It would be... amusing."
Flint: He nods his head even deeper to Flint, showing deference. "It honors me to have a Cleric of the Moonweaver in my home. If you wish... If you wish to you may stay here in my home. I will make sure you are comfortable. Perhaps you can petition the fair goddess for a blessing?"
Ennis: His eyes widen. "A wizard you say? Surely not. I have not met one in all of my days." Rubbing his chin, he says "A wizard... Though you are human, perhaps you would consider joining my staff. We can provide you with any materials you may need. As long as you share your discoveries with us, I will give you home here in the upper districts, and access to our libraries. What say you?"
Cyrnair smiles at Gelin’s nudge and say to the kids.
“I am not an angel but.. I am related to them and... “ he gets closer to them and whisper looking around, as if he is sharing a secret. “ I do have wings... “ and with a wink he sprouts his wings and take the kids two by two if more approaches on a short spin above the tents.
Present:
Cyrnair bites his tongue at the first signs of disrespect to Ky’Lera and bows in respect to the leader of the elves.
When he makes the comment about her making some good he cannot remain silent.
“You should now Sire, that since I’ve met Eva’din “ he says his voice flickering a little with the new elvish term “ she has only made good for the land and her only worry is to make the good, no matter the cost for her. Now she rides in haste to war and peril, and her only concern is the well beign of your people and land. And I will fight at her side. We will do all that we can to ease your situation Sire”
Flint is taken aback at first by the response of Sho'din towards him. Unsure how to reply intlitially, he just flashes a smile at the elf. "Thank you but I would prefer to stay with my companions. However, I would be willing to spend a few moments to see what you would have me ask The Huntress on your behalf. Also, I would be willing to offer what magics I have this evening to assist your village."
Cyrnair With the kids: the little one sniffs his nose a bit and rubs his head where the older one bonked him. "See, i told you he was an angel!"
You give the kids a real quick lift and as they run off into the crowd, you can hear them excitedly talking. You hear whispers of hope in the refugee camp as the group walks through. The people you gave food to thank you over and over.
In the manner. The Sho'din nods his head to the Paladin. "It is good that you found her then to keep her on that path. I appreciate your words. She has much to make up for. Though I respect your station good sir, you do not know our ways. I will not ruin your illusion of her, if you can make of use of her, by all means... use... her... up..."
Turning around, seeming disinterested now, and moves to the bar to get a drink for himself. "Now... Eva'din... please be about your business. Your rooms will be prepared. I would like to spend some more time with this Wizard and Cleric you bring to my roof. Perhaps this day, you will have actually brought something good before Nah'Thair."
To Flint: "Well, that is certainly disappointing. I could have showed you a wonderful time. But far be it from me to impede the will of the moonweaver."
Thinking for a moment he says, "Well if you are set on going with Eva'din, perhaps a brief prayer in my houses name will suffice."
Cynair is surprised and shocked by the words of the Sho’din but he decides not to add nothing more, for he suspects that anything more from this point are going to be worse for Ky.
He turns to Caradoc and makes a face as saying “ Well.. I tried... “
He then go out with the others.
( I will wait for you us to move on to post further... )
Ennis carefully schools his expression as he listens to the conversation, though if Flint or Ky glances at him they might notice an occasional twitch in his cheek that hints at his irritation.
When the Sho'din finally turns to address Ennis directly though, all signs of irritation are gone, replaced with a calculated calm.
"Indeed, a wizard," Ennis responds slowly in Elvish, his face neutral as he adjusts his glasses and gives a fully respectful bow to the Sho'din, "though I am afraid not a very powerful one. I am still in training myself, having just left my teacher's side within the last turning of the year in order to travel and gain more experience. I may know more magic than most any of my human kin, but I am almost certain that there is little I can do that your own sages and spellweavers could not surpass."
Ky now bows her head more deeply as she trembles. Anyone looking close enough can see blood start to pool around her clenched fists, where her nails are digging into her palms so deeply they cut flesh. "As you say Sho'din. Thank you for offering your blessings. By your leave?" Her voice is as cold as a frozen lake, calm and unmoving.
She waits for his assent to leave before she walks out of the room and out into the opened air. Behind her, she leaves drops of her blood as she walks. She stands outside, and stares up into the nearly clear sky above her, trying to ignore the storm in the north. She stands there a while, letting the still cool air of spring wash over her, and feel the breeze in the air. When others in the group come up to her, she will turn and smile at them, calm and collected. She is no longer shaking in anger and says in a more upbeat tone, "Well... that was dreadful. I knew it was coming, but like anything worth doing, there is always some... unpleasantness. Lets go shopping huh?"
She whirls on her feet and heads for one of the lifts. Not the one they came from, but another lift that takes them to the shopping district.
When they are finally dismissed, Ennis takes note of the trail of blood droplets following Ky and casually prestidigitates it all away on his way out. When he catches up to Ky he walks up next to her by the railing.
"You know," he begins to say without looking at her, "an individual's blood is a powerful component for spellwork meant to affect them." He removes his glasses to clean them on his robe, still not looking at Ky. "In a place as magical as a realm of the elves, it might be best to not leave it lying around if such can be avoided."
"I got that impression," Ennis responds with a faint grin as he replaces his glasses, still not looking at Ky. "Still better safe than sorry."
He pauses for a moment.
"I apologize if my portrayal of humility after you praised my abilities caused you any embarrassment back there. I simply felt that I'd rather deflect his attention away from me and what I can do, since it seems he would merely seek to use me for his own ends otherwise."
Cyrnair walks over Kay and slightly touches her forearm. She felt a warming feeling crossing it down to her hand, closing the nails wounds.
“Well I must apologize if I said something wrong, or overstepped, but that no way to treat you. I would have tell him more but didn’t want to make it worse. “ he says as he stays at her side. “What did you said about shopping? I would love to see more of this place, and “ he looks to the storm to the north “ as long as we need some rest I guess that we can re supply and maybe even upgrade our gear if possible. Something tells me we are going to need it. “ he smiles “ and we better do not forget the potions. Even with your incredible healing powers my friend, its better to have some backup “ he says to Flint ( if he is finally with them if not he will mention him “Even with Flint’s incredible healing powers.. “ )
Ky laughs again and puts her arm around Ennis and Cyrnair both in a friendly way. "Look at me, between 2 strapping men, and both concerned for me." She laughs genuinely, but it also seems over the top.
"Don't worry about it. Nothing you did embarrassed me. My presence is enough for that." She is quite for a moment, and then says in an upbeat tone, "The quicker we got out of there the better. The Inn we will stay at tonight is upscale. Bathes, food, drink... companions... All of the highest quality and respect of course. Anyway, we will get there soon enough. If we are going to face death soon enough, lets go spend as much coin as we can to prevent that."
She leads the group to the shopping district, not seeming to want to talk about the events that just happened right now.
OOC: Please feel free to continue to RP. I am just adding the story forward. You guys to a great job of retcon conversations in your posts, so we can keep the story moving and have good RP at the same time. This group is great =)
As Ky leads you away from the larger home, you can see she walks with some familiarity at least to this tree top city. She leads you to the north, to the far end of this disk, and it merges into another. Though the surface is flat, and looks to be like cut and polished wood, it looks like it continues to live and grow and become one with the trees that it is apart of. Magic like this has not existed in so long, you assume the city is quite old. (I will send some more info Ky's way in PM so she can play tour guide as needed.)
She leads you for another 5 minutes or so through a maze of fine homes that display natural beauty and wealth simultaneously. There is little in the way for fences around the wealthy homes, but as you pass by various lifts, you see guards posted.
Finally she stops at a lift that is a bit smaller, and leads down what looks like only sections, as you pass by 1 that looks to be more residential, perhaps upper crust but not nobility, before settling on a floor that seems to be still quite high up (a hundred feet or so). As you get off of the lift, you see the hustle and bustle of a city that is overly crowded. There is a wide range of Fey and Elven folk mixing about with various degrees of wealth obvious about them. You pass by shops that deal in food, and they seem to be getting almost mobbed by people both rich and poor alike. You pass by seamstress shops that seem to be busy working away. Their fabrics seem to be more basic, and they are focused on the high demand of lower quality items, instead of fine craftsmanship and lace.
You pass by general stores, book stores, market places and more. There are a few shops that some of you seem to want to stop at but Ky pushes forward, seeming to know where she is going. As she heads further eastward and southward, the crowds seem to thin out a bit. The shops start to spread out a bit, and they become more sprawling and impressive.
As you get to the center of this more wealthy district Ky stops. (OOC: I will PM you the details I have that you would know.)
Ky turns to them and says, "The area back there is for more... basic items. If we are going to stock up on items for what we need, we need the stores here. We could also go down to the camp and see if we can buy from them. They probably would part with items if it meant coin in there pocket. Those people need a place to go that is not under the Sho'din."
"There are 3 shops here I think we should visit."
Info from DM
Native Tealeaf: Scribe and Potions shop
Pointed Spear: Blacksmith/armorer
Kitten's Graces: General shop.
"If we can trade our gems here, I think it would go further then if we tried to trade it to the people in the camps. What do you think, and which store first?"
Caradoc Langham is uncharacteristically silent during the exchange with the Sho'din. His fists clench on the hilts of his blades and his jaw flexes as he chokes back several bitter retorts. Getting his companions ejected from this city wouldn't do anyone any good, but the temptation to carve "Sho'din is a wanker" on everything he can find is almost too much to resist.
When Cyrnair speaks to him, he winks back and shrugs. "Can't fix some people, Cy. That's just life."
Caradoc catches up with Ky and nudges her hip with his shoulder. "There's a story here you haven't had a chance to tell yet. But if you ever want that guy's tongue nailed to a plaque or something, you let me know."

Ky leads the group to the native Tealeaf first at Ennis's request. For the qualities of buildings around it, it seems more of a run of the mill building you would see in a middleclass area of Neverwinter.
It is a 2 story building with wooden shingles. There is a sign hanging from above the door of a scroll being burned on the edges as it activates, while it is heating a cup of tea with leaves within it.
Entering the brown polished wood door, you come into a room that is roughly 20x20 feet. There are cabinets with elvish writing below. Inside there are a plethora of scrolls and potions. There are also bins on the sides of the shop filled with components.
In the back of the room, there is a fine polished desk with a middle aged half elf female with blonde hair busily scribing scroll.
Entering the small shop, Ennis pauses only briefly to look over the potions and scrolls on display before making his way towards the woman at the back.
"Greetings, milady,"he says in elvish with a respectful bow, "my friends and I are passing through this settlement with some haste in order to deal with likely dangerous happenings not far to the north, and I was hoping I might find some things here that would aid us to that end. Would you happen to have healing potions available, or perhaps some with other effects that could prove useful to avoid needing healing in the first place?"
