OOC: a *working* blacksmith takes a year. A guy fully commissioned and sponsored so he can go full tilt on one job and one job only... sure, I can see that. But a working blacksmith has so many other jobs just to keep food on the table, etc... You definitely keep me on my toes LOL - you're an intriguing blend of simulationist and wild Eberron fantasy :)

"My my!" Ky says with a smile while sitting on one of the stools. "You are a wonderful sight in such a stuffy city. I love your nails! Do you do them? If you get them done, you have to tell me where to go. Mine are horrid right now."
Flint gets a kick out of Ky'Lera's notoriety as they travel throughout the town - especially since it will also allow them to save a few coin. "Seems you could use a hand here, friend," he says to the shopkeeper as he takes in the mess. "How do you find anything in this rats nest," he says teasingly.
After asking the armorer to save the shield for him, and asking if he has a normal suit of plate armor, and if he has any barding armor for his horse, Cyrnair leaves the armorer shop the last one.
Once they are inside the general store he barely moves, fearing that he will broke something by turning too quick.
Looking at the genasi, the half elf turns to him with a beaming smile. "You are a strapping thing aren't you? Well, I try to organize but I trade so rapidly I never get to tidy up. Kittens Grace is a hub for all sorts of goods. I deal in everything from the mundane to jewelry to magic. I know where everything is though. It's all up here." He points to his head.
Once he pulls out the items for inspection, he goes back to delicately putting things away on shelves and tables. It does look like he trying to clean up anyway.
Caradoc runs his fingers over the soft, luminous fabric of the Cloak of Elvenkind, careful not to get anything on it or move too quickly and worry the eccentric shopkeeper. He makes a few turns around the shop, looking at different things, but always returning to the Cloak and the Boots.
Finally he sighs, knowing that their need is too great to yield to his personal cravings right now. Just one more reason to make sure they survive.
"As lovely as everything is here, Cyrnair, we really need to get that armor and shield for you from The Pointed Spear. But this cloak, and this ring... I think they would serve us well. Ennis... do you see anything that stands out to you?"

Looking at all of the jewelry and the clutter of things, Ky says "You seem to enjoy trading in the finer things. We happen to have a great deal of Gems in which we are looking to trade for some of your fine wears. Would this be something you would be interested in?"
Ky nudges whoever has the gems.
(OOC: I think this guy may respond better... to a man.... Though maybe my title will help as well. Lets see if we can get a discount, or at least fair trade on our gems.)
After the items are out, and knowing what Ennis needs for spells, she holds up the expensive diamond (600 i think). "Perhaps you have some loose diamonds that we can trade you. Perhaps you give us some diamonds in Gold, and the rest in gold trade value, and you can have this massive one!"

Caradoc hands the pouches of gems from the dragon's lair to Gelin. "You're up, chief - go get him!" with a big grin.

The man looks through the gems, the spools of metal, the jewelry, and the knickknacks. He spends about 10 minutes in Ernest looking them over.
"Oh my, you certainly have a lot of baubles and pretties, don't you Eva'din. Well. I think many of my customers would love to own something that you did. And I do love that large gem.... I bet I could have it polished up and be a real beautiful thing! I do have some spare diamonds that I could trade."
Looking over the group, he says, how about this... I will give you the diamonds I have..." he goes and digs through a pile of items for about 2 minutes before saying "Ah! Here it is." He pulls out a black cloth bag and spills out about 11 loose diamonds. It is worth about 110 GP.
"How about this. I will take all of this material you put out here, and I will give you 700 GP and these diamonds. If you do store trade, I will give you... 1100 and the diamonds. How does that sound. Fabulous I am sure!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gelin walks to the proprietor, resting his arms awkwardly on the slightly-too-high counter.
"Kind sir, your wares are quite impressive. We are interested in many of your wares, in particular the ring, cloak, and belt buckle. Perhaps you could consider a little something extra for such generous and handsome patrons. A bit of a discount or maybe a little more store credit? It would certainly help convince us to visit you again in the future."
As he talks, his armor shifts to a rather garish scarlet and gold sleeveless tunic.
"Tell you what, you dastardly charming bard you..." the man says bending over his paunch to touch your cheek. "You compose a ballad for me on your way back through here, and I will knock 5% off."
Seeing your faces by the discount he says, keep in mind... i am a reseller, not a manufacturer. I have to keep prices closer to the cost in order to make a profit!"
Maybe we should hang on to the big diamond and pay with coin... maybe thr artificer will want it... wasn't that the one we got in the underdark that was vaguely magical already?
If we leave the diamond out of it, that is 400 go that we owe to this guy instead of store credit, and we can trade the diamond in for spells or have it split for 2 revivify spells

Who's going to alter the bargain with him, and will he alter his side to compensate for losing the best item? Does Ky know a jeweler gifted enough to do the work she's suggesting?

The man looks to Ky, "Now now... I want that diamond. That was part of the deal... if you need more diamonds, i can sell you more diamonds."
He rummages through his clutter for a while and produces what looks to be about 30 GP less then what your store credit is. "If you need diamonds for spells, maybe you should take these, and we call it even."
OOC: I am driving and at work atm. Someone else do that math of how many diamonds you will end up with please. Thank you lol! I k ow some people dont love the shopping montage and you can still go to the tents... though realistically they will need coin more then trade...
OOC: Don't sweat it - just wait til you're done and available to post. Caradoc feels right at home with this guy LOL because he feels like a grifter trying to pull a quick-change scam on us

Hubert looks at the group and sees some concern. "Let me break it down for you. You want 940 gold worth of materials. I have offered you a gracious 5% discount for Eva'din's patronage, and a promise of a ballad in my name. The brings your desires down to 893 GP. I am interested in everything that you have offered, and most importantly that large diamond. I have offered you a line of credit within the store for 1100 GP and 110 GP worth of diamonds. This would leave you 207 GP in store credit on your return, or if you really are needing diamonds, I will offer you an additional 177 diamonds on top of the 110 I already offered. What say you to that!?"
The man says, sticking a meaty hand out to be shaken.
OOC: OH!!!! He's sweetening the deal to try and get the big diamond!!! Wow my brain is mush today because I didn't get that at ALL! LOL He's giving us more diamonds to replace the remainder of store credit. Good grief what's wrong with me?

What is D&D without that blend of realism and high fantasy. The blending in the right proportions is what is important...
