Grim steps up and puts his hand on the mans arm in a calming way. "T'would help if'n you could guide us there, but if ya' truly cannot stomach it, we won't force you."
T-T-T-Thanks Grim - He relaxes after Grim's approach - "I don't think you'll need me to guide you, after all I learned many tricks from both of you, the trail is as fresh as it can be..." - now calmed, he manages to stand up and firmly grip the fox so it would stay put as you had the conversation. Fef continues to provide some more instructions to Dwalt and Grim. ((Having a ranger and a druid from the region its enough for me to have you find the militia men corpses so no need to roll or a chance to get lost in the process, you guys have details to know where to go plus there is the trail ))
Darby looks at the others with a raised brow after hearing the story, shaking his head as he moves to stand close to the larger members of the group. "You all need to keep these things away from me if we get into a scrap... I would rather not die so soon..."

Ghathi follows along with the others, trying to stay near to Sarya. He keeps his eyes out on their surroundings, watching for any signs of trouble. (Perception: 13)
As Fef said, following the trail was nothing for Dwalt, he was able to follow them and guide the rest of the group for a little more than an hour (mainly due to the weather and difficult terrain created by deep snow) until deep in the woods, amid the snow-covered pines, you discover the remains of the five militia members, who look like they were clubbed to death. By the time you arrived new-fallen snow has already begun to settle on their corpses.
It doesn't take an expert in medicine to determine what happened to the man laying on the snow: They were clubbed to death. You can see that there was a struggle as some bodies are some feet apart from each other. besides the trail from the militia there's another trail belonging to a bigger creature that goes deeper into the forest.
Those withe proficiency in survival and locals to the dale may roll for survival to determine what left the trail that goes into the forest - ((By the way, I'm not sure if I shared before what a verbeeg is so here's a brief description for Dwalt, Grim and Ghathi we can assume that they shared what a verbeeg is on your way here but I'm also fine if you want to roleplay the conversation))
Verbeeg
Large giant also known as a human behemot because they resemble more a human than any other giant. They like to steal from small towns, most of the times they steal animals, casks of wine, mead, etc.
Grim may roll History or Survival to recall another piece of information
Ghathi says, "Clubbed to death might be consistent with a verbeeg. Very large humanoids, like giants, but closer to human size than any of the other giants. It's a little worrying though that the whole militia would have fallen."
"Yes, five men just like that, let's hope they at least wounded it." Sarya says, staying back a bit from the corpses. "Can you track the Verbeeg?"She says, looking at the dwarves and the goliath.
"I do not like saying this but is it possible there was more then one verbeeg? Or perhaps it caught the militia unaware so there was little they could do to defend themselves properly." Darby muses as he readies himself, his arcane foci out and at the ready for casting.
Dwalt can spot easily the tracks and following the trail got the party deeper into the woods, after walking for a couple of hours he perceived a small creatuer poping out of the snow, before he could say anything the creatured hurled a wee snowball at him. After getting everyone's attention it starts dancing at the top of the snow where it appeared.
The creature was very small, barely higher than a mug mead. (everyone can roll perception for additional details, also locals or those proficient in histoy may roll to identify the creature (locals roll with advantage as they might've heard tales since they were young)
The creature always keep its distance, watching you closely. Every time that someone tries to get closer it dissapears and then reappears minutes later watching the group and doing silly dances.
The tracks continues and after 8 hours (you may rest, camp, have a conversation, hunt for wood during the whole trip just roll survival or let me know what your characters would've done as they were following Dwalt) you see snow covered tusks from a mammoth marking the entrance to what should be the Verbeeg lair - based on the fact that the tracks continue in that direction - Nothing beside the small creature seemed to have noted your presence. You are at a very safe distance to approach in any way

When the small creature first appeared, Ghathi grabbed his shield, expecting perhaps a fight. Though leading with throwing a small snowball hardly seemed deadly. Realizing there was little danger, he put his shield away and watched the creature.
After traveling most the day, Ghathi suggests they stop to set up camp to rest. Perhaps slightly out of sight of the presumed Verbeeg lair.

Sarya follows Dwalt as he heads off into the forest, occasionally stopping to ask if it is far yet. As they spot the little fork wielding tent with green arms and legs she stops and tilts her head. "Aren't you a cute one."She says with a giggle. She tries to befriend it by offering some of her rations, like a bisquit. Persuasion if applicable: 18 "Shouldn't we just try to go in now?" She suggests to Ghathi as he starts to set up camp out of sight from the Verbeeg lair.
"I guess if nobody needs to rest now we could?" Ghathi says to Sarya. "We have been traveling nearly all day." (I guess if we don't need to rest then we don't have to stop.)

Grim shares that Verbeeg tend to treat as pets animals they steal, sometimes they rather eat humans or animals that they actually hunt from the area.
Don't worry, I hope that you are feeling better now.
