Eric advances close to Telurion and Zale. "Kobolds are often low-ranking acolyte of the Cult of the Dragon. I'm afraid we are facing some plot from the cult itself" tightening his grip on his hammer
Calvin can't help but notice that the creatures that they fought closely resemble a lizard. A feeling of remorse builds up in his stomach as he looks at the remains of the fallen creatures. Then looks on in disbelief as the others decide to desecrate their bodies. However, Calvin decides to bite his tongue, for now.

Eric advances close to Telurion and Zale. "Kobolds are often low-ranking acolyte of the Cult of the Dragon. I'm afraid we are facing some plot from the cult itself" tightening his grip on his hammer
"You are probably right"- the paladin nods in agreement - "Which makes matters much worse - would rather be facing just dumb kobolds... But a cult bold enough to attack a city..." - he lets the words hang in the air.
The group makes it a good way to the keep. However Telurion spots some raiders moving his way without fear, pillaging as they go. They are very much in your way to the keep.
OOC: How many are there Acjots? Just a ballpark - more or less than us?
Telurion looks at the children and ponders if a confrontation may not be the best option.
Once Telurion points them out, Zale takes not of the raiders. She tries to make out how many of them there are and if there would be any way to avoid them.
Investigation: 4 (rolled on character sheet)
She is also trying to decide if combat is a good idea.
Taking note of Calvin, after egging him on to attack the fleeing kobolds. I wonder if he's upset about not getting to strike down a kobold of his own.Fizker pats Calvin's lower back (though it's as high as he can reach) "don't worry buddy, you'll get a chance soon enough to kill one of your own by the looks of Greenest." Watching Zeminny put weapons in each of the children's hands Fizker thinks to himself this isn't right. Children shouldn't need to literally fight for their lives like this. Especially not with weapons of their own.
Zeminny's problem is that for a person of his stature, pretty much all houses look fairly big. A nearby house that's partlially on fire (but the fire doesn't really "catch" is more smoldering) will have to do. He has no problem getting on the roof, but he doesn't have the good vantage point he hoped for.
Zeminny can see that there are at least 3 tall folks and what he assumes to be 4 or 5 kobolds.
At this point Linan perk up: We have to retreat quite a bit if we want to avoid them entirely. I don't know if the Governor can keep the front gate open that long. We can sneak past them? If you fight them, Cuth and I will stay back here with the kids. Or do you have some other cunning plan maybe?
Waiting to hear from Zeminny about what he sees "If we distract them, do you think that you two can get the children to safety?"Fizker looks towards the children, then the parents.
(OOC: How much further do we need to go to get to the keep?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well.."Fizker looks towards his group "I can createsimple illusions. Perhaps I create an illusion of myself trying to sneak away to draw their attention and we can all sneak past while they're preoccupied. Do you guys think that might work?"
(OOC: I'm headed to bed, and I tend to get up after most of the posting is done for the day sadly. In case we do something sneaky stealth check: 6. If you want to try the illusion route, I'll gladly create an illusion of myself in the open to attempt to draw them in. It's an investigation check DC 14 to see through the illusion, and I can only create it 30 feet away from me. To aid in the illusion, I'll fish around in my backpack, pulling a zebra striped adder, which is my familiar, and I'll send him to meet up with the illusion. Otherwise, I'll gladly go along with anything else.)
"We could always pretend we are raiders with captives, but I am not sure what chances of success that plan has"- Telurion pipes in - "I guess it will depend on how well they know one another? But before those kobolds were not attacking us, until we attacked them"
OOC: Telurion has an half-decent Persuasion
"Even if it only distracts them momentarily, it might be enough to do a run for it?"
After Fizker pats him on the back, Calvin's body tenses up. His sense of remorse turns to anger, anger directed at Fizker. Yet, he still says nothing. He just simply nods his head in response.
When Linan talks about protecting the children, Calvin turns around.
"Look, like I said before, I'm not a fighter,"Calvin says. "I only have my scimitar. I don't have any spells the cause damage. Maybe I should stay with Linan and Cuth?"

“A distraction might work,” Zale says, “I think I can pull of this raider look. She pulls out her disguise kit. “I’ve done this a few times, sometimes it be useful to look like a green Dragonborn. Might wanna do somethin’ similar for Urvys.”
Eric made eyebrow-high reaction while the other were speaking about sneaking through watching himself and Telurion doubtfully. But he appears to look to the illusion idea with approval.
[occ]: I think to sneak away could be pretty hard, but eventually the illusion could buy some time to run before being discovered
"We could go with both the illusion and the hostages plan," Zale says as she puts some sort of clay where her horn used to be, "A few of us can act like raiders, while the rest of us be hostages. Though those of us who are Raiders may want to have disguises as well, we don't know if that last Kobold is among this group. Last thing we need is to be recognized." She finishes her horn, and starts painting herself green. "Then, we walk up to them and say they need to join the search for the wannabe heroes who be meddlin' with our plans. Then Fizker can make an illusion of himself, one of us will point it out yelling, 'That be one a them!' And hopefully they run after the illusion letting us get past." At this point she will have painted her hands and face green and replaced her broken horn, (hopefully) making herself look like a green dragonborn. She looks at Urivys, "Now you, wanna be red or black, I'd suggest red, so yer breath matches. I'd a been blue, but me crest gets in the way a that."

Zeminny will tell the group on the ground about what he sees.
” it looks like there are about 5 or so kobolds along with several taller folks. I can’t tell what breed of long-legs they are from here”
Linan seems sceptical. What kind of distraction?
((The keep is about 200 feet away. You are on the wrong side of it though))

[occ] nice plan
(OOC Thanks)
Zeminny is delighted at the plan and comes down off the roof…” I think I can be a dragon-goblin…a kobold”
he hunches over a bit and smears some mud on his face…
” See? Instant kobold”..
