Vars frowns, "Come to think of it, I don't remember him saying not to open the letter." He shakes his head, "Nevertheless, he probably assumes we know better."
"Bjorn, do you really think a man like Fist would concern himself with whether he explicitly told you not to open the sealed letter before he bashed your head in?" Sorsha says staring the one armed man in the eyes for a moment before turning to Vars. "I agree though, if anything deserves some preparations it is plotting a suitable path to the Host Tower, but the sooner we deliver this letter the better." She says giving the ranger a nod and a quick smile.
"My friends, its good to be careful, plan a good route, decide if we are doing this tonight or at dawn." Interestingly, we have several in our group that can see well at night. However, mostly bad sorts are out late at night." Sparhawk paused in thought. "I assume that this test Fist is giving us has two hurdles. Are we tough enough to get the job done, and are we trustworthy. Opening the letter would be a clear breach of trust. However, if one of us can see the contents without breaking the seal, it may be in our best interest. Sparhawk rubbed the stubble on his chin. "In addition, I propose we forge some fake letters with similar seals in case we need a decoy. Happy to take point when we are ready to go, eye eye captain. Sparhawk smiled sheepishly at Sorsha, approving of her passion and assertiveness.
"Bah, surely a man as smart and honorable as Fist would recognize that the fault was his own." At this point it is clear he's simply being facetious.
"As it happens, I know someone in town. Provided he hasn't yet drowned, I'm sure he can help us out." [I'd like to leverage my Criminal Contact feature. Specifically, I'm hoping to talk to someone who knows how to avoid shakedowns as you move through Luskan.]
[Side note: Both of Bjorn's arms are fine. He was faking his injury.]
"Well, I'm not going to have any part in tampering with that letter. If I'm not mistaken the Harpell's are powerful magic-users and so are the wizards of the Arcane Host Tower. We should expect any tampering to be detected. Also, I still don't see what we would gain by reading the contents of that letter." Sorsha says, crossing her arms now. "And as I said, if Fist is meeting us at the docks I don't think he meant for us to turn up tomorrow, but I suppose you could go and ask him?"She adds with a smirk.
Vars smiles broadly, "I like that idea. If we can make some believable decoys in a timely fashion it could benefit us later. Each of us could carry a letter." He nods, "Though, that will take time, and the longer we wait to make this delivery, the more time we give to anyone who wants to intercept us."
"Good points Sorsha." Sparhawk grins. "Besides, I like the guy. He paid for our dinner. We can be porters and deliver his little letter. Not a big deal at all." He takes his sword out and starts sharpening it with his whetstone .
"You're complicating something that is very simple, making a lot of decoys would possibly get the letter to the Host Tower, but I expect the whole crew to live through this, and if they catch one of us they won't hesitate to kill us, savvy? So we should stick together and I can't see how a decoy would help us then. If they kill us I wouldn't care if they found a decoy or the real letter, would you?" Sorsha says, seemingly starting to lose her patience now.
"Oh, please, mister pirate! Have mercy on me! Take the letter, and leave me with my life!" Bjorn casts Minor Illusion, flicking his jagged crystal focus in the direction of a crate beside a nearby business. The lid of the crate appears to be slightly cracked open, and a dozen identical envelopes are sticking out of it, each with the Harpell seal.
We've all been down on our luck. Running forward blindly into the night with a piece of paper at a fat mans bidding is not my style. I know your excited to get going Sorsha, but as our captain, I know you will use all of our resources to get the job done! Using Bjorn's contact can get us a better route. In case we get ambushed and they demand the letter or our lives, I'd like to have at least one backup to give over. Lets think this through and in a few hours, we can get another drink and celebrate a successful mission together. [Sparhawk using his persuasion to get Sorsha to see some reason, slow down, and use the resources of the group wisely, while trying to compliment her at the same time.] Sparhawk smiles encouragingly at Sorsha, hoping to calm her down and help her lead wisely. His military mind always thinking of strategies.
"well done Bjorn, well done. A man of many talents I see." Sparhawk smiles at his tricky friend. "I think you could have made 6 more with the third hand!"
"So your plan is to surrender and hope they don't kill you, is it?" Sorsha says, giving Bjorn an incredulous look, not seeming impressed with the illusion.
"I'm not particularly excited to get going Sparhawk, just eager to get this letter delivered before it gets me dead, savvy? And I never said we would run forward blindly, let's focus on plotting our course to the Arcane Host Tower now. I highly doubt the extra time contacting anyone would be particularly helpful but I guess Bjorn could get going to see his contact while the rest of us preapare back here. If he's not back within an hour I insist on us going though and I believe the risk of him being taken on his way is bigger than the gain of seeing his contact." Sorsha continues, not seeming to run out of energy anytime soon in this discussion.
"Ah, that's more like it!" Sparhawk says smiling at Sorsha's passion. "A good plan coming together." He feels the balance in the argument coming together. Good people he has joined. Passionate, smart, tricky, bold. A recipe for success he thinks.
(Oh wow, I just realized I missed a couple of posts due to slow internet. So if anything Vars said doesn't make sense, thats why lol.)
"Vars nods to Sorsha, "Aye, I would like to have this done as soon as possible. As I said before, as much as I would like to know what is in the letter, it is not our priority or our concern. Bjorn, if you really want to meet your contact, I see no reason not to. Again, I don't see how we could be in any immediate danger unless someone somehow discovered that we are the ones who are going to be carrying the letter. So the likelihood of you being taken seems slim. However, what is it you hope to gain? Is knowing what's inside the letter worth waiting an hour? Or is there something else you think this person can help us with?"
"Your loss!" Bjorn pockets his crystal focus and scans the streets for a moment, figuring out his path. "She could likely teach you some useful strategies for getting along with people... Ah! Here we are. An hour, then?"
Edit: "Call it a hunch. Just try not to kill anyone while I'm gone, would you?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
[Important edit: I don't know what happened to my dice just now. It's saying I got 18 and that it may have been manipulated. Originally, I got 7. Which I'm happy to keep.]
From an unseen position, he sets up a gambit: Using Minor Illusion, he stages a noisy argument against a fictitious would-be client. The stranger's illusory voice indicates that he intends to pay Angelique a visit, and Bjorn calls him out on the knives and rope that he is attempting to hide. The stranger gets flustered, and Bjorn sends him packing, saying he'd better never see him around here again.
[Deception, I assume:] 18
Then Bjorn approaches, humbly making no reference to his heroic action.
Eberk let's out a loud sigh. "I can go with Bjorn. Someone has to keep him out of jail. I'll have him back within the hour." Eberk turns to Bjorn. "Clocks ticking! Move it."

Bjorn catches a glimpse of movement a few blocks down, heading into an alley. He recognizes those swaying hips, even from this distance.
