((Okay... I was getting too much into my role play... sorry ;-) ))
Jhaartael as Correal will continue to muse with Loris about the possible avenues of opening up demand, then he will suddenly pat his pockets as if looking for something, "Ah! Our trade list! I almost forgot, I left it in the attache I stored in your locker. I presume you have a duplicate key to your safe? If Elkira can accompany your clerk, perhaps they could get the attache for us. In the meantime, you can tell me a little bit more about this charming game room. What sort of games do you entertain here? I find such past-times of the younger races so interesting."
Once the clerk and Krysa/Elkira leave Jhaartael leans in and says, "fascinating, really ... You know, you are really quite the enterprising merchant. You have been so hospitable. We have to be so careful in whom we trust. I am sure you want to be an ethical business partner."Then, putting more emphasis on his words as he casts suggestion "Sometimes one acquires things that can be misused. As an act of good faith, start tonight by destroying all material you have acquired that could be used for blackmail."((WIS Save DC: 14))
Realizing what Jhaartael is trying to do, Kyrsa says, "But, Correal..." She takes a breath, "Alright, nothing should befall you here." She turns to the Clerk, "I suppose I'd better accompany you, that attache conceals much that we would rather keep hidden...not to infer that you would try stealing our secrets, but you never know what kinds of people show up in places like this simply to see what they can get away with."
She gives one last glance at Jhaartael, hoping to come across as reluctant to leave him for his safety...though she really is questioning if this is the best time to try and charm their host. If this goes wrong, and she isn't there to step in with her own ability this might be the end of the line for their team.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mrs. Beaufort looks to Loris for guidance. A brief expression of annoyance crosses his features, erased rapidly by a too-wide smile. "Of course, of course, you must have your notes, just as I have retrieved mine. Mrs. Beaufort, please accompany this lovely and intimidating warrior to the office that she may retrieve the documents." And with this, he removes a chain with a key from around his neck and hands it to the clerk, who exits the room with Kyrsa in tow.
"Games? Well, my wife rather enjoys cards, and so of course we play all sorts of those games. But my heart is really given to dragonchess. The three-dimensional strategies involved are fascinating to me. Do any of you play? After we finish our business, we could set up a board... but I digress.
"Ethical you say? Well but of course, I hold myself to the highest personal standards...."
"... and what you suggest is entirely reasonable. In fact, I may have recently seen some documents that could be misused in that way, though I would never think of doing so. Nevertheless, as you say, a show of good faith. If you will remain here a moment, I shall return with them."
Loris stands and moves to the bookcase, easily finding the hidden lever, and revealing the sealed door beyond. He presses his ring into the indentation, while adjusting the tumblers rapidly. The lock clicks, and the door swings open, revealing a narrow hallway leading directly into a set of downward stairs. Loris descends out of your view.
As Loris disappears downstairs... Jhaartael will say quietly to his comrades in the room, "This should resolve our primary goal, but be ready to leave quickly. Indeed, some of you may wish to start for the exit. Akyan, can you let others know?"
Akyan is slightly surprised that this trick actually worked. Nodding he says, "Yes, I'll let them know now." After saying this, he breaks the current link he has with Jhaartael and Tamryn, then creates a new one with Tamryn and Kyrsa. "We've got the documents, you all should start making your way out. We need may need to leave quickly. The clerk is headed towards the office, so Tamryn, you and Lyndaran need to get out or get hidden. Let me know what you decide. Kyrsa, you may have to distract her so Tamryn and Lyndaran can get out of there if they choose to."
Mina starts to follow Loris, as she has the entire time she's been in the house, but as he says, if you will remain here a moment, she doesn't want to blow whatever hold Jhaartael has on him. So she heads to the top of the stairs and looks down so see if she can see anything from that vantage point.
She turns back to the others and whispers, "I cannot wait to get out of this house. I feel so sleazy after all this. I sure hope your trick worked."
Kyrsa calmly follows the clerk to the office, and is just a little surprised when Akyan's voice appears in her head. In response she thinks back to him, "Alright, I'll see what I can do. Let me know where they are so that I can make sure we avoid them. ...thank the gods that worked. Hopefully it doesn't backfire while I'm gone..."
As they make their way to the office, Kyrsa addresses the clerk, "So...tell me. Is it pleasant working for Master Donegall? This is a fine establishment he has here, do you enjoy your job?"
Mina peers down the hidden stairway, which descends into a stone-floored area lit with flickering torchlight. She might see a few crates, but nothing more from her position at the top of the stairs.
As those in the gameroom wait for Donegall to return, a knock is heard at the door. "Mr. Donegall?" you hear a voice you recognize as the sheriff's. "Sir, may I have a word with you?"
Out in the hall, Mrs. Beaufort replies in a monotone. "Mr. Donegall is a good employer. I have all I need here." Then her voice lowers to a harsh whisper, "But if I were you I would tell your masters never to let their guards down or turn their backs on him." She refuses to say anything more on the matter.
Meanwhile, what are Tamryn and Lyndaran doing in the office, having been warned of the approaching clerk?
Akyan opens the door halfway, "Mr. Donegall is currently retrieving something from his hidden safe. We are waiting for him to return. You can either wait here, or I can fetch you after he returns." He gives the sheriff a meaningful look, "As an act of good faith, Correal has suggested that Mr. Donegall destroy any documents he has that could be used for blackmail. Please don't do anything that might change the good master's mind."
So exiting the only door to the office, there is not really anywhere to hide from someone walking along the corridor from the east. Maybe if it were pitch black, but it's not.
Kyrsa is slightly surprised at the Clerk's words, "I had my suspicions, thank you for the warning." She falls silent, hoping that she can delay the Clerk if needed.
"I wonder if I could get her on our side...best not to make any risky moves now, or to drag her into this...but its good to know the option might be there. Clearly it is known that our host is not the most trustworthy individual."
To Akyan she asks, "Have Tamryn and Lyndaran left the office yet? I don't want to run into them in the hallway. If they have chosen to hide tell me where they are so that I can make sure the clerk doesn't stumble across them."
( is there room for any of us to hide below the table but with legs and arms pushing at the edge not to be touching the floor? What about a corner between walls and celiings using the library ( those are libraries right? to reach that point? )

(Na- it's not possible to get to into role play. :D)
Akyan remains standing next to the door as this plays out. He he prepares to close/block the door if Loris succeeds the wisdom save.

(Does he warn Tamryn that the clerk is headed his way?)
(Oopps, I didn't realize that Akyan knew Tamryn was in the office. Had to go back and check. I'll edit my post.)

(Ooc: No Mina is still with Akyan and Jhaartael in the game room.)
(OOC: ohhh, sorry. My mistake. I didn’t realize Akyan was also in the game room. I also thought Jhaaratael went after Loris.)
Correal/Jhaartael sits awaiting Loris' return with fingers intertwined before him and a placid smile upon his face.

"Do we have time to leave before the clerk arrives?" ask Lyndaran to Tamryn not able to ask the question himself.
