Akyan nods to Kyrsa, then telepathically relays what they found to the other three.
As he approaches the auto-gnome, his hand falls on his rapier. The thing is made of metal, so he doubts his psychic blades could hurt it. "I don't know of any other way to keep it quiet..."
He then draws forth a small bag. Reaching in he withdraws his hand and presents its palm full of sparkling metal bearings to Lyndaran. "Could we use these to jam the door. Perhaps if we wedged enough of them underneath it?"
((If the door opens away from the party))
"Do either of you have any copper pieces we could slip into the jamb, above and below the knob?", Jhaartael whispers to his comrades.
(I forgot to mention the presence of a chest beside Yikes! (that's my name for the autognome, exclamation point included).
Akyan and Kyrsa simultaneously move forward to investigate and attempt to silence the wailing clockwork creature, but both fail to perceive the trap as the stone flooring caves away beneath them into a ten-foot deep pit with pointy things at the bottom 1bludgeoning and 4piercing, DC 12 DEX save for half damage.
Kyrsa's attempts to persuade Yikes! from the bottom of the pit seem fruitless.
Akyan begins to telepathically communicate with the other group, something to the effect of: "OK, we've found a room with something odd and... WHOOPS! OW! OW! OW!"
Tamryn notices that shortly after Akyan's mishap, the guards he is observing begin snickering. He does not hear anything from the other side of the tower, though.
Lyndaran and Jhaartael note that the door in front of them seems to open inwards, or away from them.
Mina, eyes going wide as her friends drop out of sight, carefully makes her way over to the pit. Seeing their situation, she pulls the rope out of her pack to help them out of the pit. Once she has braced herself, she keeps looking over to Yikes! to make sure nothing changes.
Avoiding a few of the spikes, Akyan gets back on his feet and scowls towards the top of the hole. The trap was so obvious and they'd walked strait into it. Good thing Mina didn't follow to closely. Tch. When they get out of here, he's going to throw that hunk of metal down this hole. That should shut the blasted thing up. Catching the rope Mina drops down, he hands it to Kyrsa. "Here, you go first."
Kyrsa gives a muffled grunt as she picks herself up from the bottom of the ditch. Great, well now they found the trap. Wonderful. Hopefully the auto-gnome counts as part of the trap. That way they could still say they avoided engaging with the enemy. She nods to Akyan, letting out a breath before clambering up the rope. Once she is up, she'll help Mina get Akyan out as well.
Yikes! is still covered in magical vines, unless Mina is dropping concentration. The pit is centrally located in that room, with perhaps an 18 inch lip around the edge. On which side of the pit are you clambering out? Are you engaging with the autognome and/or his chest, or just leaving?
Jhaartael's hand moves as if to respond to Lyndaran's offer, then stops as a puzzled look crosses his face. "A moment," he whispers. Then, mentally to Akyan, "Are you three alright? What happened?"
Looking at the map, the lowbrow comedy part of me really wants to see you taunt those three guards into chasing you around the circle and somehow cause them to fall into their own trap. Probably not a very practical plan, but it would satisfy my itch for RoadRunner vs. Coyote hijinks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Now in the room with the others, Mina packs up her rope once everyone is back up and carefully checks out the autognome for any traps or anything of interest. "If you guys want to look at that chest while I check this creature out, go for it. Otherwise we have a mission to complete..."
Tamryn says, "It is an excellent plan. I just worry that we might need to actually get through this room ourselves." Turning to Jhaartael, he asks, "Using that incredible spell of yours, do you think you could make a sound from behind one of the other two doors in order to draw the guards away? Perhaps the sound of a team of thieves running around and creating chaos?"
"We're fine. Just dealing with some traps." An irritated voice replies to Jhaartael, "There's a strange animated metal humanoid in here disguised as a child. I think we have it under control though. How are things on your end?"
After pulling himself out of the hole with the help of the two women, Akyan eyes the chest. This whole room screams trap, but what if the chest holds the key to another room or something? If that's the case, and they don't search it now, they may have to return to this room. He sighs, "I'll search the chest, but you two stay back just in case it's another trap."
Before waltzing right up to the chest, Akyan investigates the area again to make sure he doesn't walk into another trap. Once satisfied, kneels down next to the chest and examines it for traps before pulling out his lockpicks. He does check to see if it's actually locked before wasting time trying to unlock and already unlocked box.

Jhaartael looks up slowly to Tamryn and Lyndaran, "Hmmm... We are going forward then? A distraction won't keep the guards away forever. Get some rope ready." he whispers.

Investigation 13
The autognome's head swivels back and forth to look at Mina, but it does not move otherwise, as it sits under the magical vine restraints.

Ok, first let's get an updated map....
(I forgot to mention the presence of a chest beside Yikes! (that's my name for the autognome, exclamation point included).
Akyan and Kyrsa simultaneously move forward to investigate and attempt to silence the wailing clockwork creature, but both fail to perceive the trap as the stone flooring caves away beneath them into a ten-foot deep pit with pointy things at the bottom 1 bludgeoning and 4 piercing, DC 12 DEX save for half damage.
Kyrsa's attempts to persuade Yikes! from the bottom of the pit seem fruitless.

(So apparently this infil/exfil exercise has morphed into a tiny dungeon crawl.... or has it? bwahahaha.....)
(Lol, love the name)
Mina, eyes going wide as her friends drop out of sight, carefully makes her way over to the pit. Seeing their situation, she pulls the rope out of her pack to help them out of the pit. Once she has braced herself, she keeps looking over to Yikes! to make sure nothing changes.

(Is the door across the way open or is that just an oddity of the map?)

The doors are all closed unless you have opened them. Don't judge my map skills, dude.

Jhaartael looks up slowly to Tamryn and Lyndaran, "Hmmm... We are going forward then? A distraction won't keep the guards away forever. Get some rope ready." he whispers.
Moving past them, he carefully pushes open the door, waives his ringed hand at the guards muttering "lor".
