Stooping to get into the door, Fro enters the one-story, one-room cabin. She opens any curtains and doors to let in as much light as possible and looks around the room. "Lets see if there are any clues here." First as a quick pass perception: 10 (OOC: Fro is Looking for just features of the house here, areas that may need further inspection, like fireplace, desk, couch, pictures, etc.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Faloniir will listen to Elro's explanation of the plight and his request for aid. Though he'd rather continue his search for Raegrin right away, winning over the hearts and minds of the locals would definitely help should his bounty end up being someone's son or favorite cousin. Also, his portion of a 100gp reward would easily pay for his travel to and from Palebank Village and then some. Faloniir will clap Elro on his shoulder reassuringly and say, "I will help in any way that I can friend."
Faloniir will introduce himself to the others in the group and hang back, content to let the others get hands on. If there's some sickness or curse going around, he wasn't keen on rummaging through the deceased's belongings. He'll stand back and take in the scene objectively as a whole, letting his attention wash over the area and waiting for something to pique his interest.
Gilwynn concerned after hearing about what happened to Urgon Gilwynn says to Erlo "So no one has been able to find a cure for this illness then? Maybe it's a curse or a spell that did this, something like this doesn't just happen, Maybe a book has information about this illness or something similar to it, I'd be glad to help in any way possible."
Elro nodded and said, “Agreed. Urgon had just spent a year in the Eisencross, exposing himself to who knows what ancient and unknowable mysteries. But Tulgi never went there, she’s a local trapper who likes to keep to herself, so how did she contract the strange malady?”

In the cabin, you find it to be cramped & dark, though it might have been a cozy place when its owner was alive. Now an unmade bed stands near a cold fireplace, its mantle hung with the large head of some fearsome snarling white beast with gray horns. On the other side of the room, a small table strewn with dirty dishes and set with a dwarf-sized chair stands before two empty shelves whose contents are scattered across the floor: kitchen utensils, dried foodstuffs, adventuring gear, and a few books.
Fro notices a folded piece of paper used as a bookmark in one of the books, and discovers it to be a receipt of sorts. The receipt is dated two months previous, and indicates that Urgon sold several rare items found in Eiselcross to the local antique shop, Pelc’s Curiosities, for 1,000 gp. The items are listed as a dagger, a scroll case, a jade statuette, a quiver of twenty arrows, a silver ring set with a jasper, and two blue glass vials.
Faloniir discovers that the disarray of the cabin indicates that it was ransacked, as if someone were searching for something. There are signs of muddy footprints and they entered from and exited out side window, which appears to have been forced open. A glance out the window shows the tracks leading away in the snow, though the light snowfall now is starting to fill them in.
Useful items found in the cabin include a silvered maul, grappling hook, hooded lantern, a suit of splint armor sized for a dwarf, and bulky, fur-lined clothing sized for a dwarf.
Faloniir will share his discovery with the others,"Someone has been here before us, look here." He will gesture to the window, footprints, and general disarray of the cabin, "It appears they were searching for something. Was this an opportunist, looking to rob the dead or someone hoping to hide something incriminating?" Viewing the tracks in the snow he will say, "We should follow these tracks before they are lost in the snow."
Fro tells the party about the receipt, showing to everyone. She then puts it in her pocket. "One of these items may have something to do with what Urgon was exploring. We may need to visit this Pelc's."
She also picks up the maul, and grappling hook. "I'll carry these in case we need them, could someone grab the lantern?" She has no use for anything built for a dwarf, so ignores it.
(OOC: Edited for Dylans post)
" I agree Faloniir, we should get to following them quickly before the tracks are gone and their is nothing to follow. Lead the way my good man."
Fro exits the cabin, ready to follow Faloniir into the woods.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Faloniir will raise an eyebrow at Fro taking the dead man's things and risk a quick glance at Elro if he is present, but keep his thoughts to himself. He will not take anything from the cabin. If everyone decides it to be the best course of action, Faloniir will offer to track the footprints to their source.
(I like a brisk pace, we’ll keep going and continue to have past conversations as able while also moving forward)
Fortunately for the group, the tracks are as yet easy to follow. They skirt the edge of the town to the East and then line up with the Mountain trail. Ahead the mountains rise up imposingly, covered with snow-dusted pine trees until the elevation eventually reaches high enough that there is just bare stone and snow, appearing distant and dull gray in this dim weather.
The trail up is indeed covered with snow but marked by the occasional arrangement of stones that support a tall vertical stick rising into the air above the snowfall. In the distance you can see switchbacks heading steeply up the foothills.

Forgot to mention earlier, in response to Gilwynn’s questions to Elro, he also mentioned:
“I happen to have my own fair collection of old texts as relate to the bygone civilization in Eisencross. I will study them and see what I can find out.”
Banyan follows along to the cabin, watching the sides of the trails to ensure all is as it should be. Upon reaching the cabin he does a quick circuit of the building to see if there are any signs of disturbance on the outside (Perception: 5) before making his way back inside to see what the others have found.

Was this an opportunist, looking to rob the dead or someone hoping to hide something incriminating?" Viewing the tracks in the snow he will say, "We should follow these tracks before they are lost in the snow."
Banyan looked out the window and couldn't believe he had missed the tracks (Making an assumption with the 5 result) they were so obvious now that someone else pointed them out."Yes, we should move quickly."Moving across the room at Fro's request, Banyan picks up the lantern and then follows the group outside.
"I guess we are headed up there." Banyan points to the trail. "If anything is watching we will be clearly visible, and vulnerable, most of the way up those switchbacks. Shall we figure out who's going to take point?" He glances in the direction of the wood elf,"I suspect it will be either you or I."
Fro checks the tracks, then stands and continues up the trail to see where they go. In response to Banyan. "I think it is only one dwarf, the tracks look several hours old and we will probably need to make a very quick pace if we expect to catch up to whomever made them."
(Alright, we’ll assume the party will proceed up the path. Banyan wants to know the marching order, which is a good idea.)
The group toils up the path by following the tracks, which lead from marker to marker in the snow. Fresh snow coats over old, making the world whiter. All is quiet in the peaceful snowfall, the only sounds your crunching footsteps and heavy breathing as the path gains elevation.
Eventually you reach the tree line, where it is much darker under a canopy of snow-laden trees. Snow on the ground is much less, revealing the path. The tracks are not obvious any more. The path soon forks as Elro had described.
Fro pauses at the fork. "I did not realize this was the path that Elro described to us, It appears the north fork is the way to Tulgi's cabin. I suggest we go there. If you would like I could lead the way even tho I do not wear armor. Or we can ask the Elven Faloniir to lead and I will bring up the rear."
"I say we follow the tracks. Elro didn't know about these when he told us where to look. The cabin won't be going anywhere soon, but whoever left these tracks is clearly on the move."As the others continue to sort themselves out, Banyan takes his bow out and moves toward the rear of the group.
As it happens, the tracks appear to have taken the fork path to the cabin before becoming much less distinct in the frozen mudscape of the forest floor.
Therefore, the goals of following the tracks vs sticking to the instructions having aligned, the party can proceed up the fork. Fro in front, then Faloniir, Brytniss, Gilwynn, and finally Banyan.
This new path is not as accommodating as the main path. The trees are much tighter here, with only the occasional limb lopped off to allow single file passage. Soon enough, however, you come into a small clearing with a cabin. This snow-covered cabin looks peaceful and quiet from the outside. Its windows are shuttered, and a steady stream of smoke piping out of the chimney indicates a roaring fire within. The sturdy wooden front door is closed, and off to the side is something odd: it appears to be a crude metal gong hanging from a wooden support structure. There is a stout wooden stick laying on the ground under the gong.

that sort of information is best discovered with a survival check.
Survival: Crit 20 = 21
You’ve seen enough footprints in snow by now to recognize this as the tracks of a single dwarf of average size, probably made yesterday or overnight.
