Faloniir will stop short of approaching the cabin and address the others, "Should we approach quietly? Maybe one of us should hang back in case someone tries to run for it.Thoughts?"
Faloniir says, "If this person broke into Urgon's cabin, then they may have had something to do with his death. We aren't sure how many are in there either. I only speak for myself, but I am not comfortable announcing our arrival just yet."
"I am happy to cover the exits, should anyone try to make a hasty retreat. Call me if it is clear and I will come assist with investigating the hut."Banyan makes his way off the track a little way and attempts to conceal himself, while still having a view of the most likely exits. (Stealth: 26)
Banyan melts into the shadows, practically becoming invisible. You’re not sure if there is a rear exit to the cabin from where you currently stand, just shy of entering the small clearing, but the chimney appears to be on the back wall, the wall you can’t see, which would make an exit there unlikely.
Fro says we have options. "I could go to the door and knock alone, try to state our business and then call the rest of the party. Or we can storm the place." Or does anyone have any better ideas?
The clearing is still and quiet as Faloniir approaches the cabin noiselessly. There is one window in the front wall where the front door is, and a window on each side wall. They’re all shuttered with wooden slats that don’t look very thick or sturdy, but do prevent you from seeing inside. You can see that there is a simple latch on the inside of each shutter that could probably be disengaged without much difficulty.
While Banyan disappears in the shadows, Fro whispers to Faloniir as he goes to the window. "I will go to the door and knock softly, see If I can get them to the door. If that doesn't work, maybe you can try jimmying the window shutters to peer inside.
Fro steps on the porch and knocks gently on the door."Hello, is anyone home?"
Faloniir will nod to Fro and make his way to a window on a side wall. He'll take an arrow from his quiver and try to pop open the shutter as quietly as he can without damaging anything.
The latch didn’t slide up as easily as expected and suddenly snaps off. One of the shutters then swings open slightly with a creak. Through this slight opening Faloniir gets the impression of a smoky orange glow inside the cabin. It should be mentioned, too, that up close you can tell that the window is radiating warmth.
You can both hear from inside a low voice calling out loud enough for those outside to hear, “Go away!”
"I am sorry, I can not go away. We have been sent her from Erlo, he is trying to make sure that the village is safe and we need to know that you are ok in there." Fro pauses for a second, then adds. "I would really like to talk to you, could you please just give me a moment?"
Persuasion 5
(OOC: Is the voice male, female, dwarf, etc. What can I tell about the voice that may help me try to persuade them)
Perception: 20
(OOC: If this has no chance of working.. intimidation and kicking in door is coming... LOL)
Faloniir will mutter a curse under his breath and attempt to see what, if anything, he can see through the haze. He'll make a point to check with the others to see if any of them have any magics that could repair the latch before they leave the area.
Faloniir can tell that the fire in the hearth is burning quite high and hot, and there is also a brazier at the other end of the cabin near the door which is also burning brightly. It must be very warm inside the cabin, and smoky. It’s hard to make out more detail but there might be a figure sitting in a bed inside.
Fro recognizes the voice as female dwarf. It calls out again, “You and Elro can take your concerns and shove them up each other’s arses! Leave me alone!”
Faloniir will walk over to Fro and say, "It's hard to say for certain, but it looks like there's only one person inside. There are enough fires burning in there to burn down the whole of Palebank Village and it's very hazy. I've done a few extractions like this myself and this isn't ideal. We must be careful not to set the place ablaze while we're inside and we won't be able to see very well." He motions for the others to join them and briefs them once everyone is present. Once everyone understand what they're up against, Faloniir will turn to Fro and say, "We've got your back." He'll nod to the door, "Whenever you're ready."
Fro glances at Banyan in the woods, gives an indication that she will break the door and waits for a thumbs up, then looks at Gilwynn and Brytniss. "You guys ready?"
Faloniir will stop short of approaching the cabin and address the others, "Should we approach quietly? Maybe one of us should hang back in case someone tries to run for it. Thoughts?"
Fro asks. "Should we bang the gong? Or knock?"
Faloniir says, "If this person broke into Urgon's cabin, then they may have had something to do with his death. We aren't sure how many are in there either. I only speak for myself, but I am not comfortable announcing our arrival just yet."

Faloniir nods to Banyan, "Will do."

The shutters would looklike this, but closed (and no flowers), and there is a horizontal latch on the inside of each that holds them closed together.
Faloniir will nod to Fro and make his way to a window on a side wall. He'll take an arrow from his quiver and try to pop open the shutter as quietly as he can without damaging anything.

Fro knocks a bit harder and raises her voice to cover the noise possibly made by Faloniir. "Hello, I am working with Elro, Is anyone here?"

Fro can tell, after knocking on the cabin door several times now, that it would be quite amenable to getting kicked in.
