Day 9 of the Third Tenday
Approximately 8 am
Who knows what time you get to bed but you wake up in the morning with your heads a little fuzzy and have a big breakfast of fruits and bread with some freshly squeezed fruits.
After breakfast, Kaslo heads out to see Syndra and Yellow's going to head around to make sure the scouts, beasts, and supplies meet up and get headed off on the barge. She'll also make sure the scouts have her letter to Firebeard.
You have 4 hours until the fights start. so this is the time to do anything
Around 11:30 am
Before she fights, Drita will go to the bookie and bet 50GP on Yellow. She has hope for her friend that she will prevail in whatever challenge awaits her.
Krav will bet 50 gp on Drita and Yellow each. Then he'll find a seat at the arena.
Taggart goes along with Krav and also places 50g each on his party mates to win.
"You hear the last call to place bets. Drita vs the Cultist, even odds."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, good afternoon and welcome to Ports Gladiator Games. Today we have some good fights lined up and Dengo says you will be pleased. As you can see from the arena landscape the engineers were hard at work sculpting the battlefield for the first fight. Without further ado let us start off today's games."
The Western gate opens and Drita walks out raising her hands above her head.
"We saw her fight yesterday and it was a tough battle but she pulled through and has come back to fulfill her contract for your viewing pleasure folks. Give a warm round of applause for Drita the Redeemed."
The crowd begins chanting Drita's name and the round of applause is deafening.
"And coming out of the Eastern gate. Is one we all vile and hate. One of those savage cannibals that worship Ras Nsi. We found him sneaking through the garbage heap, probably on his way to eat some of your very own children."
The crowd begins to boo and hiss as the Cultist walks through the gate snarling at everyone.
"You will have 15 minutes to place your bets, ladies, and gentlemen. I hear the bookies are giving even odds this fight."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Let the Games Begin."
A loud gong sounds.
In a flash of orange and red flame; a long, thin obsidian rapier appears in Drita’s hand. Magma flows out of the hilt creating an ornate guard around the handle and dripping off the pommel, vanishing before it hits the ground. As the rapier appears from thin air, there is a strong smell of sulfur in the air.
"le të errësirës ju konsumojnë"
"Ladies and Gentlemen Drita just taunted her enemy in the celestial language. She said Let the darkness consume you!"
The light around the beast amplified creating many shadows which crawl up its body and cling to it, the shadows vanish from its feet and a black aura swirls about the beast.
Drita moves to the closest barrier and watches the cultist.
The cultist watches Drita duck behind the wall and rushes over the bridge while chanting in some ancient dialect not heard of for thousands of years. A blue shimmering field surrounds the cultist.
Drita still watching the Cultist, stays where she is and utters some arcane words as she wiggles her fingers. She begins to glow a white light and then suddenly other Dritas begin to flicker around her. "Try to hit me now!"
The crowd claps in delight at the multiple Redeemed appearing on the sands.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Drita the Redeemed has chosen to cast the Mirror Image spell, which as you all know make it a lot harder to get hit by your opponent. We've seen Ichoro use that spell on many occasions during the Wizard games."
I hate this spell The cultists thinks to himself as he hops over the wall and lunges out with his dagger the first attack misses the four images completely but the second attack plunges straight into a images heart and it fizzles out of existence.
As Drita watches a figure fizzle away, she quickly sidesteps the cultist and plunges her rapier into him. The cultist groans in pain as Drita pulls the rapier out of his side.
The cultist lashes out with his dagger stabbing what he thought was Drita in the face but another image disappears. He spins with his dagger and stabs Drita in the leg but the last image of Drita disappears and now Drita is standing alone on the sands.
The Cultist chants once again in some strange language and a large flowing spectral-looking dagger appears next to hit. The dagger lunges towards Drita but misses.
Drita light on her feet dodges the floating dagger and strikes the cultist with two quick jabs of her blade. "How can you help a starving cannibal? Give him a helping hand"The rapier sinks into the cultist once again and blood is pouring freely out of him.
The crowd groans at Drita's joke but cheer as she pulls the rapier out of the cultist's body.
The Cultists chants and points his fingers at Drita. Drita's limbs begin to tighten but she breaks free from the spells hold. Cursing the Cultist slashes with his hand and the spectral dagger slashes across Drita's chest opening up a small wound.
Drita, ready to finish this moves quickly again with another plunging attack and the rapier slides into the cultist's chest. She withdraws the blade to see the cultist still standing."By Horus' might would you just die already!"
The cultist is wobbling on his feet and blood is pouring from the vicious wounds Drita has inflicted. he slashes with his hand as the spectral dagger slashes at Drita but she easily dodges the blow, as she is stepping to the side the cultist's hand begins to glow and he reaches out to touch Drita but she notices at the last second and smacks his hand to the side.
Drita swats the hand away with her rapier and closes the distance between them as she plunges the rapier deep into the cultist's chest down to the hilt. With the rapier plunged into the cultist she embraces him and says, "May Horus show you the light." and she pulls the blade out of him. The cultist slumps to the floor and Drita stands triumphantly in the area arms raised.
The crowd goes wild as Ras Nsi's flunky slumps to the ground.
"And there you have it Ladies and Gentlemen, A perfect 2-0 record on the sands of Battle. Drita the Redeemed."
"Drita, Drita, Drita." The crowd stops its feet and claps their hands chanting over and over. It is deafening.
"Okay Ladies and Gentlemen. The Engineers need to change the sands back to normal so we will take a short 15-minute break."
Anyone beating on Drita got the same amount the bet. You bet 50 you won 50
It is another packed crowd today of 10,000 fanatical Chultans getting ready to watch the daily battles. But today was a special day. Dengo promised a Special Event happening today. Dengo's special events were usually wild affairs. 3 vs 1 or teams of gladiators against other teams, or maybe a team of gladiators vs a T-rex. That was always a fan favorite. Deaths happened in that type of fight now and then and with the death curse happening the gladiators were paid extra for their efforts knowing it could be their last fight.
"Ladies and Gentlemen."The announcer's voice boomed throughout the arena."As promised by Dengo the Battle Master, we have a very special match for you today. This one will surely be talked about for weeks to come, if not go down in the history books. Only time will tell. Let's get this started shall we."
The crowd begins to clap and you can hear cheers starting in the stands.
"Coming out of the Western gate is one of our own that volunteered for your viewing pleasure this day. She is a devote Child of Ubtao. A protector of Chult and Member of Order of the Gauntlet. She worked for the Guard in town for many years and you probably have seen her at some time or another She has devoted her whole life to making your lives safe. She is one of our own a native of Port, Put your hands together for Yellow on the Sea also known as The Chultan Avenger."
Yellow walks out into the Grand Coliseum. Her deep green eyes take in the crowd as she walks a bit distractedly toward the center. Though she has been in this space many, many times, it is clear by the look on her face that even her wildest imaginings could not compare to the rush she is feeling actually walking on the sand herself. Her Order of the Gantlet chain mail gleams in the sun, on her left arm is her black shield, but her right paw is strangely empty; both her sword and her black javelin wait to be drawn. When she reaches the center of the arena, her eyes focus on the far gate, no longer mesmerized by her spectators.
The crowd goes wild and begins stomping their feet and roses are being thrown onto the sands. The chants start up. "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow."
The Announcer lets the crowd have their fun and lets Yellow have time to settle her nerves before continuing.
"Now we all know how the Order of the gauntlet, as well as our own Guards, are highly trained soldiers. Hopefully, this training will be enough for her."
The crowd begins to die down as the Announcer begins to introduce the opponent.
"Deep from the wilds of Chult, from somewhere in the untamed jungle you have all heard sounds in the night. Insects, mighty dinosaurs that roar, sounds of battle and the moans of the Undead. But the scariest sounds of all are those simple Croaking sounds, The Chirring sounds that happen day or night."
The crowd gasps knowing what's about to happen.
"That's right ladies and gentlemen, Our Dengo has captured not one, not two, but Three Grung trying to infiltrate the Port and kill our Merchant Princes in their sleep."
The Eastern gate opens and out walks three Grung, A green, yellow, and orange. The green Grung is holding a dagger and has more attached to its loincloth, The Yellow one also known as an Elite Grung Warrior has a shortbow strapped to its back with multiple daggers around its belt. The last Grung, the orange Grung is holding a dagger in its hand and has a short bow on its back as well. They look around the crowd and smile and begin talking amongst themselves.
"I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen, For I cannot translate what they are saying at the moment. No one knows the Grung language but I will have that fixed shortly."
The bookies are having a hard time trying to figure out the odds until one Bookie says "25-1 odds in favor of the Grung." and people rush to the bookies and start betting on Yellow in hopes of an upset.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Let the fights begin."
With that, a loud gong sounds and the Grungs jump into action.
Orange Grung, Green Grung, Yellow, Elite Grung
The Orange Grung hangs back near the gate and waits as the green grung runs 10 feet and leaps in the air with his dagger in his hand, as he comes down at Yellow, Yellow deflects the attack with her shield.
Yellow hisses at the grung and launches herself to run past, but the grunge throws out its dagger and catches her arm as she runs by. With surprising speed, the tabaxi runs around the yellow grung and flies at the orange. As she runs, she withdraws her longsword and attempts to skewer the orange grung, but it is able to dodge her attack.
The Elite Grung begins to make a chirring sound as Yellow misses the Orange Grung with her attack. Yellow hears the noise and becomes stunned by the endless chirring sound.
The Orange grung jumps away from yellow 25' away and chants some words in Grung as massive spikey vines and thorns sprout up from the ground in a 20' radius around Yellow.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like the Grung have magical abilities. This doesn't bode well for the Chultan Avenger."
The crowd gasps as the vines and thorns spring around Yellow.
The Orange grung waits until his comrades go as the Green Grung runs to the Orange Grung and pulls the shortbow off his back with the quiver.
The Elite Grung aims with his bow and takes a shot at Yellow and hits her right in the back with the arrow. Yellow cries out in pain as the poison courses through her veins.
The Orange Grung walks over to the Green Grung and utters a few words in Their language and the Green's skin becomes barklike.
The Green Grung takes a shot at Yellow with his newly acquired bow but misses.
The Crowd begins chanting Yellow's name trying to inspire her. "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow."
Yellow shakes her head and blinks, her head completely clearing. She looks around at her feet and then bares her teeth at the three grungs. Dropping her sword to the ground, she places a paw on her chest. A strange glow emanates around her paw and she flings it forward, an undulating, warbling mass of chaotic energy flying at the orange grung. It slams into it and Yellow raises her fist in triumph.
The Orange Grung chirps in pain as the ball of force slams into it.
The crowd erupts in applause and continues chanting Yellows name. "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow."
The Yellow grung runs a few feet and jumps high in the air and lands at Yellows feet. It grunts from the spikes and thorns stabbing it in the feet but it tries to Grapple Yellow. Yellow easily pushes the Elite Grung away from her.
The Orange Grung throws a dagger at Yellow but misses.
The Green Grung takes a shot at Yellow and hits her right in the chest. the arrow goes deep into her and blood is pouring out of the wound mixed with a sickly greenish liquid which must be poison.
"That must've hurt ladies and gentlemen. It is rumored that the Grung has a poisonous skin and they are able to coat their weapons with poison From the looks of it Yellow seems to be poisoned."
The crowd begins to chant once more for Yellow.
Yellow growls at the yellow grung before her, "I may be going down, but I'm hopefully going to take you with me!"She reaches down, scoops up her sword, and swings it upward, catching the yellow grung across the belly. Her eyes flash with a divine light and then her sword glows and a white radiant light flashes as it slices into the beast.
The Elite Grung smiles at Yellow feeble attempt to hurt it and reaches out and tries to grab Yellow one more time.
The crowd responds with their displeasure and they begin to boo and jeer at the Grung.
The Orange grung waits as the green grung shoots an arrow at Yellow and it pierces her side as she was focused on the Elite Grung, Yellow goes down and the crowd goes wild booing and hissing at the Grung.
The Orange grung makes the spike growth disappear and walks over to Yellow with a dagger in its hand and holds it up high. It looks like it is about to stab Yellow.
"Can this be happening folks? Is that Grung about to murder our very own Chultan Avenger? GUARDS!!!"
The gates open and guards rush into the arena sands with bows in hands and some with sword and boards. The Healer is right behind them as well as two arena wizards.
The Orange Grung stabs Yellow in the chest and lets out a chirring sound as it holds the dagger high over its head. Just then 6 bolts of magical force slammed into the orange Grung knocking it far away from Yellow and the Elite Grung gets wrapped up in magical energy binding it. The Green Grung knowing it is outnumbered rushes the guards while pulling another dagger from its loincloth.
The guards make quick work of the Green Grung and the sands are running green with the Grung blood. As this is happening the Healer says words of healing and Yellow's breath stabilizes as four guards rush towards her and carry her out to safety.
The rest of the guards bind the Yellow and Orange Grung and slap gags in their mouths and drag them off the arena sands.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Give a round of applause for Yellow The Chultan Avenger."
The crowd goes wild chanting Yellow's name as they Boo the Grung and throw things at them from the stands.
The healer follows and patches Yellow up in the infirmary and smiles as Yellow regains consciousness. "Take it easy Yellow on the Sea. You fought bravely but everyone knows how dangerous the Grung can be. Dengo underestimated them and it only cost you. He feels really bad and left this for you."
She places a pouch on the ground.
"It's your winnings for tonight. And Dengo says anytime you wish to fight just come to see him. He would be honored. You are free to go anytime."
The mage casts mending to repair anything broken on your armor or clothing and walks out of the room.

"I jest, If the Death Curse was lifted I would be regaining my strength not losing it. How may I help you Kaslo?"
Kaslo smiles at her joke. "Even on death's door, ye find humor in the situation. I admire that"
He takes a breath, "We've had a tough go of it, I'll be honest. Just myself and Krav, the other fellow Dwarf are all that remain of the original party. We filled our party with a mostly trusty worthy group, a number of them members of the Order of the Gauntlet. We agreed to help the Gauntlet and resolve a supply and equipment shortage for their outpost Camp Vengeance. That's what brings us to town"
"We've stayed in town longer then i'm comfortable with. Some have become side tracked with the attractions of town, and I fear they may have lost sight our our greater purpose. We are suppose to heading out in the next day or two, and will resume our quest."
"I simply felt since we were in Chult, that I would check in with ye, and give you an update on our status."

"I'm sad to hear about your party members and I pray that their souls will not be eaten by the soulmonger before the death curse is lifted. As for staying in town longer than expected. The jungle is a harsh place and a little rest from it is fine now and then. And besides striking it rich in a lost temple or ruin you can make great money in town to finance your expeditions and gain better experience for the trials that take place in the jungle. But I thank you for the update and hope you find a cure to this dreadful curse. I hear it is getting worse by the day and important people all over Faerun have been lost because of the curse. It seems that only the two of you are the ones that are under my employee. The rest have no obligations to help you in finding the Soulmonger and destroying it."
Solis watches Drita and Yellow fight, cheering for his friends. He rises in alarm when Yellow falls, but is relieved to see a healer tend to her. After the fight, Solis looks for Yellow, but doesn't find her so he heads back to the inn with Taggart.
Yellow makes her way back to the inn, slides onto a stool at the bar and orders a strong drink. Though she did not partake in the revelry the evening before, she has every intention of thoroughly dulling the pain tonight.
Drita will return the inn after watching Yellow's fight. Hoping to see her there she buys her and herself a drink, "You fought valiantly. It was a tough fight, but after watching, I have some urgent news to talk to you about. I translated the note. It says:
Get out of our jungle, you are in Grung territory and will be killed whenever you leave your camp. We will burn this camp to the ground. You have been warned.
We need to get those supplies back as soon as possible."

Yellow growls at the yellow grung before her, "I may be going down, but I'm hopefully going to take you with me!" She reaches down, scoops up her sword, and swings it upward, catching the yellow grung across the belly.

Yellow leaves the arena with her tail and ears low, attempting to make it back to the inn unnoticed.

Kvothe would have been in the audience watching Yellow
When he sees Yellow being carried away hurt, Kvothe gets up unobtrusively from his seat and goes to watch the exit from where Yellow will emerge. Without drawing attention to himself he follows her back to the Inn.

Krav watched both fights from the arena seats/stands.
After Drita's fight:
Krav cheered and clapped his hands with excitement. If Drita came to the stands for Yellow's fight:
Krav grinned at her.
"A great battle, 'Redeemed' one!" he said.
Now, just after Yellow's fight:
Krav claps with the crowd, but he frowns. He turns to those of the party who are nearby, though he doesn't see Kvothe.
"Bad luck having to fight three like that. And those guards took their time getting there!" he says in a low, angry voice.
And that's all I have to say about that.

After about five minutes, Kvothe sits down beside Yellow and says “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Yellow looks at Drita with great alarm. "The scouts left this morning with the supplies." The tabaxi places a paw to her forehead in thought. "I wish there was a way to get this translation to the captains." She looks at Drita and Kvothe, hopeful they might have a suggestion.
Kvothe says “Eku is still in town, could we ask her to help out?”
