As a younger son of house Bynn'Dar, Zellion began his studies in magic at the tender of age of 50, learning from his uncles and aunts who were each masters of their selected school of magic. After spending years learning about each school and how the spells of that school could be used to channel different threads of the web of magic that suffused the world, a burning desire grew in him. A desire to learn something new, a way to merge the benefits of the different schools of magic to enhance the physical capabilities of the wizard to allow them to operate at their peak.
Zellion scoured the libraries of house Bynn'Dar , searching for a tome, a treatise, or a textbook giving effect to his theory but always came up short. Whilst individual spells from certain schools of magic could offer short term transformations or enhancements in skill there was nothing which postulated a type of magic which operated in the manner he had envisaged. That was until he came across the dusty, half decayed journal of his great grandmother. Scattered amongst the notes about her time as an adventurer were references to an ancient school of elven magic that had been lost to the ages. Bladesinging. A symbiosis of magical and martial prowess where the physical and magical prowess of the user each work to enhance the other.
Having spent the first 93 years of his life sequestered libraries reading and learning about magical theory Zellion's martial skills were sorely lacking. Like all elves of his house, Zellion had some basic skills with a blade and bow but the diagrams and notes contained in the journal called for a level of dexterity and skill with weapons that Zellion wouldn't be able to learn from a book. He recalled his uncles and aunts talking about a call for aid received from the nearby town of Broken Bank who were having difficulty dealing with demon raids. "Defending against demon raids is a dangerous way to learn how to fight but I guess I'll have no choice but to learn quickly" Zellion thought to himself "After all as GamGam wrote in her journal, what better way to learn than by doing, and what better time to start than the present".
Aeronas is the son of a walk-about elven father, and a bragi (oral historian) of a tribe of Heori a nomadic barbarian people. Raised by his mother taught the Heori ways, Aeronas hunted as a rite of passage. His powers manifested at the moment of kill. When he returned his trophy was a wasted mess, and he had pucker scars across his chest.
He left his tribe spent time among Aarakocra who grudgingly accepted the flightless. He is searching for answers about his father and his powers.
Bellona Black grew up an orphan in Broken Bank. Both her parents were killed at a young age in what was called an accident involving a carriage. Bellona however knows the truth that a devil was present and the cause of the accident. No one believed her and she was branded a black sheep because of this. Growing up she found a mentor in the local clergy. She trained to become a cleric and to study all that she could about devils and death.
Now that Broken Bank has begun to be attack by devils she has taken an interest. She seeks not only to defend her home even though it has never accepted her and to learn the truth of that fateful night. She does not know if the devil that caused the death of her parents is involved or even alive any more but she aims to find out. She may even be able to find a connection to Broken Bank that she has sought but never been able to achieve.
I used standard point by for abilities. Also I am very active everyday.
running from a horrific past, Elak is desperately seeking arcane knowledge to remove the curse that fills his nights with horrors and his days with regret. (Inspired by the season). I used point buy but might roll to see what happens.
In just two paragraphs, Grivanee is a Verdan. They had a wife/husband and a child, but then they got drunk and "went to get milk." Then they went gambling, drunk again, and lost all of their money and their home and basically everything important to them.
Grivanee was then living in a hay stack outside town. Sleeping became impossible with their very bothersome curse. Then they found out their child was now an experienced assassin with Grivanee being their target. Grivanee now seeks experience of their own to prevent the revenge, and to get some money. (Pretty cringe backstory but whatever).
The campaign sounds interesting. I'm not great at roleplay but I try.
Odd Tom finds himself standing in front of Broken Bank, with no memory. Only dreams. Dreams of devils and demons and hell, of himself commanding hordes in endless battle. And other dreams; dreams of before. A family in trouble and of a dark sacrifice. Now he is back, and on his arms a tatoo in a celestial tongue. "Returned" on his left and "Redeemed" on his right. He doesn't even know how he knows....
As a young adult Eladrin, Narisoa has ventured quite a bit of the world. Born to Elven parents that she scarcely remembers, much of Nari's childhood is bathed in the hazy gold glow of a dragon's flame. Though she does not know if a dragon had to do with her parents' early disappearance from her life, or if her draconic powers came from such a connection, she swears that the flames of her memories felt like more of a warm hug rather than a searing burn.
Traveling into distant towns starting from a very young age, Nari has long grown unaffected by the whisperings that follow her. The shimmer of golden scales across her face has always drawn attention, yet she remains undeterred in the face of the public. If anything, the natural attention only spurred on Narisoa's knack for entertaining. Under the help of an elderly lady in one of the quieter towns she resided in, Nari was quickly able to pick up the cheerful tunes of the pan flute. Her first was simply a few chopped bamboo shoots, bound by a ragged strip of gray fabric. She has since found a much more expertly crafted pan flute, polished honey-brown wood bound with a strip of silky red cloth. Never one to stay in one place for too long, Nari moves from town to town, playing a soft tune and carrying a vague scent of smoke wherever she ventures.
Nari was originally in a canceled homebrew campaign! If there's anything that needs changing in her backstory or inventory, let me know!
Backstory: Melinda grew up in a coastal town where sailors would sometimes come to resupply. She had two loving parents and an older brother. Her mom worked as a bar maid at the local tavern and her father worked in the ship yard helping load and unload ships. She was always in the tavern helping her mother out, not because she had too, but because she LOVED hearing the tales from the sailors. One sailor even taught her how to play the pan flute. She has always loved telling stories. After learning enough songs and stories she started going to the next town over to sing and share the stories. She made some decent coin doing it too. Her parents were always so supportive of her and her dream of being the greatest story tell ever.
On her 17th birthday her parents gave her a pack with some gear and enough coin to get by. They told her to chase her dreams. So she did. One day, around six months into her journey she found a magic ring, now at the time she was clueless that it was magic, she just thought it was pretty. So she put the ring on and carried on with her day. That night however a being came to her in her sleep, the being said it could offer her magic in exchange for occasional doing some things here or their for it, nothing to serious the creature told her. So she agreed and the creature gave her a spear, and told her it was magic. The creature also said to call it Azael. She has now been traveling for two years and has come to the town of Broken Bank where she has heard there have been fiend attacks.
"Where were you when the devilfolk came a-burnin', all them years ago? Were you in the Gossimer Grove? Did you see them? Pouring out of that rattlin' wood, swarming 'round our homes, our little ones?"
*Drink*
"No, you were too busy sleepin' off your damned honeywine, half-lying in the creek. Woke up to the smoke that filled the crooked trees like a horde o' ghosts. Well, you're awake now, Haraldin Jawn, you bastard, and this time the devilfolk come for these kind neighbors what welcomed you in when you was nothing."
The Half-Orc sets down his flask of water by the smudged looking glass and spits. Time to give the devil his due. He grabs the deadly glaive, the backpack on the bed of straw, and leaves two dirty silver coins on the blanket before pushing open the barn door and heading into the heart of Broken Bank.

Bamboo (common translation) was given this name as a baby because it was the only thing he would eat. He grew up in a small bear enclave loving nature and climbing trees. The shaman (druid) of the group whose name translates to wise mender took Bamboo under their wing training him in the ways of nature. Unfortunately for the clan they were viciously attacked by hunters. Bamboo was able to escape but never able to find his parents or the shaman who began training him. He made his way traveling across the realm helping people with livestock issues and ailments of citizens before setting near the coastal town Broken Bank. The people of Broken Bank were not keen on him living near the town in the woods, but they began to embrace him when he healed the mayor's child of an illness. Since then they gave him a name, Little John, as he has helped guide the town during fishing season and help them build small farms for food other than fish. The recent devil attacks on the rise he has had to take a more protective stance for his new clan joining the town guard in the fight against the devils.
Tamsyn is the eldest daughter of three girls born to nobility, however she is the only one born out of wedlock to their human, aristocratic father, and an unknown elf of draconian heritage. She spent her life raised and spoiled by her father in their mansion, who pitied her, and scorned by her stepmother; although her human sisters are great friends, she yearns to leave for adventure to prove to herself she needn’t be coddled and can be great with or without the titles she might or might not inherit one day because of her ancestry and feared, unharnessed powers. She is very spoiled by her father and his staff, and often indulges in his treats just to further spite his jealous wife. She brings with her a haphazard array of items and weapons, including the jewels and finery she’s clothed in, rations for a week, and a sum of gold.
