“What do you know of the Towers of Night, Shar’s dominion?” Katar asks Podimmerus. They are crowded around the scholarly gnome’s table, the chairs a little small for a regular sized man, but he still finds a way to sit comfortably, his long legs stretched under the table. His red hair falls behind his back, and his shield leans against the chair legs.
“That’s very noble of you, Zephyryn of the Sky.” Katar says, “Here’s what I think we should do.” He raises one slender silk gloved finger, “First, we eat. Then, we figure out who’s carrying the Net of Stars, someone who’ll distract Shar as others rescue Selûne. As for the later part, I don’t suppose Shar locked her sister in a commonplace jail where we could just smash the door open. No, more likely something magical, a confinement, a spell. Therefore I think it may be worthwhile to pay a visit to the Temple of Shar, see what we can find out. They’re obviously hiding some secrets. Perhaps it had been a plan long in the works.”
He looks at Podimmerus, then at the others. “Any input?”
((If there’s no problem, Katar will cast Heroes Feast for everyone - including Podimmerus, if he fancies, as a thanks. He also tells Zephyryn he should bring some for Tempest.))
"The Tower of Night?" repeats Podimmerus. "I can't say that I know anything for certain. Just tales and myths. I suspect magical darkness everywhere and no easy way to find entrance."
The old gnome takes another long draw on his pipe and adds, "The Temple of Shar, eh? Well, Katar, you're completely right about those folks hiding secrets. Doubtful they'll share them with you, however. Speaking with those vipers might be a great time waster."
Podimmerus offers lodging in his place for the night and confirms the benefit such divine fare may have upon the party, including Tempest.

The Heroes' Feast and Luna's Celestial Radiance provide the party with an increased HP maximum as well as a pool of temporary hit points.
HEROES' FEAST
A creature that partakes of the feast gains several benefits. The creature is cured of all diseases and poison, becomes immune to poison and being frightened, and makes all Wisdom saving throws with advantage. Its hit point maximum also increases by 2d10, and it gains the same number of hit points. These benefits last for 24 hours.
CELESTIAL RADIANCE
[Luna] gains +23 temp HP whenever you finish a short or long rest. Additionally, choose up to five creatures you can see at the end of the rest to grant them +14 temp HP.
The white-haired half-elven maiden keeps listening attentively as their host grants them more knowledge about what they are about to deal with. She would then gratefully partake in the feast brought forth, then hoping to find a suitable place for her beauty sleep, hopefully sleeping soundly before rising and shining brilliantly with a celestial radiance, fortifying not only herself but her brave and resourceful companions. As the others are ready, Luna too would be ready to head back to the temple of Selûne to start their fateful journey.

Grimaldus, mostly quiet and matching his nickname up to this point, gives a hearty laugh and his gratitude for the wondrous feast set before them. He eats as much as one might suspect such a huge human warrior would, but he does it with an unusual grace. He may seem rough and imposing, but he definitely has a more refined side evident of high-born training and time spent with royalty.
Grim offers his opinion on the potential trip to the temple of Shar after Podimmerus. "I agree with the gnome. This night's delay was necessary to ensure we are fully recovered for the trip into the Atral Sea, but any further delays may be more dangerous and allow the Lady of Darkness to further secure her hold on this domain." He also points out that he is an obvious choice to be one of the group to assault Shar as a distraction while another utilizes the mystical net on her.

"What, are you not curious what secrets they are hiding that they tried to assassinate one of their own to keep? There are ways to make people talk, I'm sure."
Katar pours himself a drink and leans back in the chair comfortably. The elf picks at his food, not that he doesn't appreciate the ambrosia, he just seems to eat very little. "Aranthe will meet us at sunset tomorrow to send us to Astral Plane, that gives us ample time to visit the temple of Shar tonight, rest, then go back. Even we find out nothing, we take out a few more servants of the shadow along the way."
The white-haired half-elven maiden listens to the others as she slowly and gracefully enjoys the feast. "As long as we have time to fully rest til morning comes I wouldn't mind visiting the local temple of Shar for some more information about Shar's plans, but in my experience the temples of the Lady of Loss are not easily found. Do we know where one is located in Luskan?"She asks, taking a sip of her exquisite wine as her clear blue eyes studies the others at the feast table.
Zephyryn tucks into the heroes' feast with fervour, clearly enjoying his food.
"A glorious feast to be sure, my thanks Katar", he says as he takes some choice pieces on a couple of the platters and heads outside to give some to tempest, who also hungrily consumes the fare.
When he re-enters the room and joins the discussion about how to spend the evening, he looks and feels invigorated.
"I am eager to embark, but as has been mentioned we do not journey forth to the Astral Sea until sunset. That leaves plenty of time to be productive. Whether that be finding the Temple of Shah and getting information, or striking a blow against her acolytes, it matters not to me".
"Aye," agrees Podimmerus. "Most folks don't want Shar's devotees frequentin' their neighborhood. And, of course, Shar's devotees run a rather clandestine operation."
He lets loose a a series of smoke rings from his pipe and adds, "But I make it my business to know things. Right, Zeph? Underground, on the north side of River Mirar, is Shar's temple. And from what I can tell, it can be accessed in one of two ways. The first, I believe, is from within an abandoned building--an old warehouse--that stands near the far side of the Market Bridge. That's all I know about that place. I've walked past it a few times but have never bothered to poke about inside it."
After taking a few more bites from the heroes' feast, Podimmerus explains the second option. "There's a small cave entrance among the rocky cliffs along the shore. Only visible during low tide, it is. I suppose that's for the real secretive folk; those not wanting to risk being seen at all. Considering what's happening with the moon tonight, there's a fair chance of a low tide I would guess. If that's the way that seems best."
"I will leave to you gentlemen to decide which approach we would use." Luna says with a soft melodious voice and as she finishes her platter with exquisite food she makes it float away and starts to unfold a handkerchief of fine black cloth in front of her on the table, reaching inside it to bring up a silvery crystal ball that she places beside it. "Let us see if we can discern something about that hidden temple." She says with an alluring smile, looking into the crystal ball with her clear blue eyes as she starts chanting softly in celestial while slowly moving her slnder fingers over the shimmering scrying device.
(Casting Scrying on the shadow archer that got away, hoping to have a peek at what's going down at the temple of Shar, Wis save 19 to resist, I think :-) (Can we get a short rest as we feast?)
While the eating, drinking, and conversation continues at the house of Podimmerus, Luna disengages from the others and begins to study the world of divination within her crystal ball. What she sees initially is a bit puzzling, for her scrying sensor is traveling through the streets of Luskan, seemingly following nothing. Within a few seconds, however, she understands that the shadow monk is invisible.
For several minutes, the monk is walking the dark and mostly silent streets of the city. Eventually his path takes him across the Market Bridge--the bridge that spans the Mirar River where it meets the sea--and then down a rocky incline to the river bank. The river bank quickly turns into the seashore, and for a minute or so the monk negotiates the rocky terrain with the crashing waves on his left and cliffs on his right. Then the duration of Luna's spell is reached, and her view of the world within the crystal ball fades away.
(Yes, the time the party spends eating and talking qualifies as a short)
With a slight look of disappointment, the the white-haired half-elven maiden carefully returns the crystal orb into the black handkerchief and folds it up, returning it to her pocket. "I'm afraid I caught the escaping servant of Shar a bit too early, but at least I can confirm he has returned to the local temple of Shar, using the route by the cave at the shore." She explains in a gentle tone. "While we enjoy this feast Katar has provided us with I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for coming to the rescue of my goddess in her time of need. We have all just met but I know you all from my vision and it is my belief our fates are truly intertwined. I have served the Moonmaiden all my life, across the Realms and other planes of existance where the darkness of Shar was threatening the light of the moon, but I have never faced a challenge such as this and I'm truly grateful to have you gentlemen at my side in this holy quest." She continues in a calm and gentle tone.
Listening to Luna's intel report on the shadow monk and his approach, the warrior offers his opinion. "The approach via the sea cave is better hidden from commonfolk stumbling around - this is the way we should choose. There will likely be traps the cultists know how to circumvent, so our most observant member should be first to detect those traps. I will be next to handle anything that may try to surprise us. Of course, if we want to use the stealthy approach, then I will need to remain in the back!" He gestures to his large frame and heavy metal armor and laughs!
Zephyryn performs a sweeping bow, even in his armour he still shows more than a little flexibility.
”You are indeed welcome”, he says in response to Luna. “I have protected people from many dark forces in my time; powerful denizens of the lower planes, ancient dragons and even necromancers and their undead armies to name but a few. The decision to pledge my sword and shield to this cause is an easy one”, he adds.
“If we are all satiated, shall we proceed to this cave? I expect I am not the most suited to finding traps, but my sword can light the way and my shield protect us as we go”. He goes and collects his shield, strapping it to his back and making ready to leave.
"That is actually very helpful." Katar says as Luna finishes her scrying. "They are returning to the temple. Why don't we stake outside the cave, see if we can catch one of them on their way back. That way, we don't risk alerting the whole temple, or any traps we may set off along the way."
"It has been sometime since I was last adventuring. Oh, they don’t ask where I go anymore. Think I finally annoyed them enough to let me go my own way. Mostly I travel, do my own thing. An itinerant preacher, that's the official title. Sure, sometimes I have to attend functionaries, talk to other priests, governing lords, council members, but only occasionally. I was offered to lead my own temple a long time ago. I turned it down, of course. You wouldn’t believe how much scrutiny and politics goes into it. Anyway, there are something… freeing about having a purpose that doesn’t involve countless red tape. To defeat darkness, chaos, evil - whichever you call it - that is tangible, and does not hide itself. Face to face, right? And I do quite like the moon.”
Katar runs his finger over his amulet held in his palm, tracing the holy symbol. On his forehead a shape of the sun appears infused with golden light, and the corner of his eyes seem to flash like glowing tattoo, that dims again quickly. ((Using Channel Divinity to recover a 3rd level spell slot))
With full stomachs, restored strength, and a rough plan in mind, the four of you bid farewell to Podimmerus--whose parting words to you are I look forward to our next gathering!--and make your way to the Market Bridge. Luskan is calm and quiet now, but, not surprisingly, the fog has begun to roll in. You encounter no one on your route, and by the time you cross the bridge and make your way down to the river bank, visibility has become rather poor.
Luna leads the way along the shore, taking every effort to follow the path she observed through her crystal ball. The tide is low enough to allow passage with only minimal contact with the ocean water, and after approximately twenty minutes you find yourselves before a narrow cleft in the cliff face. You're standing in a few inches of sea water, and you have no doubt that during a high tide this little opening in the rock will be completely submerged and hidden.
Tempest, keeping an eye on things from overhead, has nothing of concern to report to Zephyryn.
The ebb and flow of the ocean, combined with the abundance of rocks, makes it impossible to locate any tracks. Through the small opening, which is approximately 4' high and 5' wide, you can see a passageway that leads directly into the cliff face for 10 feet or so. After that, it bends to the left slightly, and you can only guess where it may lead...
The white-haired half-elven maiden smiles warmly at her three companions in turn as they speak, then picking up her white slender staff. "You are all truly suited for this task gentlemen. Shall we go then?"She says with a gentle voice, bowing to her host before making for the door, gracefully leading the others through the City of Sails and down to the Mirar river.
As she arrrives at the shore entrance to the temple of Shar, Luna uses her divine magic to prepare herself for entering enemy territory, first using her divine magic to peer inside the temple of Shar.
Casting Mage Armor, Crown of Stars, True Seeing and Arcane Eye, sending the tiny invisible eye to investigate the temple. Perception: 28
Grim's eyes have a strange, silvery glow. Although he is a human, it is clear that he can see perfectly well in the dark of the moonless night. His dark armor and greatsword all blend with the surroundings, making him a menacing shadow! He will lead the group through the town in a loose chevron but follows Luna down along the shoreline since she had seen the path in her earlier scrying. At the cave mouth, he directs his attention outward, serving as a lookout while the others prepared and conduct their magical investigations. He offers to lead the group into the hideout, counting on his physical and mystical enhancements to prevent any surprises or ambushes.
Grim's enhancements:
Devil’s Sight: You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 ft.
Alert: You gain a +5 bonus to initiative, you can't be surprised while you are conscious, and other creatures don’t gain advantage on attack rolls against you as a result of being unseen by you.
Blind Fighting: You have blindsight with a range of 10 ft. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
Luna's arcane eye enters the seaside cave and within half a minute reveals what lies beyond.
The tunnel through the rock is just wide enough to allow a medium-sized creature to pass, and Luna estimates its total length is 30'. At the end of the tunnel is an iron ladder fastened to a wall of rock. The ladder ascends vertically for approximately 15' and leads to a small open space (a "room" approximately 10' square). On the north side of this room is a door. Constructed of wooden planks bound together by iron bands, the door is closed. It has no distinguishing marks that would identify what lies behind it. Just above the iron door handle is a vertical slot, almost like some sort of keyhole. This slot, however, seems designed to receive something a bit larger than a normal-sized key.
