(( That’s why Norr feels so bad. He has enough for them [as long as he goes into the ring and makes the letter plan impossible] but what about all the other travellers? So the city isn’t providing a water ration?))
Norr smiles wryly. “It was a nice plan, Casrian, a clever one. But it seems we now have need of toppling this city’s government at haste. The labyrinth it is then.” Norr’s eyes flicker to the servants, but they are Dolmek’s people, and what servant would betray their master and his companions — other than Norr, that is. He grimaces at the thought.
Swiftly, before he can double guess himself, Norr flicks a fingernail under the table of the ring’s broad face, and it pops open. He is turned to mist and sucked into the ring. Only a bare moment goes by before the blue smoke reverses and comes back out, forming into Norr. Next to him, he sets down a 40 gallon barrel of water, full to the brim, that he is awkwardly holding with both arms and both legs, scarcely an inch above the ground.

(If there’s no ration from the city, the other servants presumably knowing this:)

(OOC, since the ring is on Norr's finger, wouldn't the ring fall to the ground when you enter, and dose it float back up to where your finger would be when you get out?)

When the captain gives Casrian the necessary tools for writing, he asks the party how they would like to be addressed on their papers so that he may order their papers properly. He has printed, signed his name, and left an inky imprint of his ring beside his own name and will leave his seal on the sealing wax when they are finished. He will also take down the names of Dolmek's retainers.
"The others waiting will have to wait awhile longer, I'm afraid. I will not vouch for this many strangers." He looks peevishly at the gate. He looks at Norr.
"That was well done, Norr, with the barrel. If we must, we will pick up a new barrel in New Basin. I will raise hell if the governing body in New Basin refuses to send aid or at least spread the word by imperial decree of what is happening here. Things like this are avoidable. We will do what we can."
He passes out three of his own rations and hands them to the retainers. If others cannot spare some, he will pass out three more.

what is the geography around New Basin like farms, rivers, forest? nature12
There is a river that cuts through New Basin, but it's not very close to where the party currently is. New Basin is more or less flat, with small bumps here and there but no substantial hills or mountains.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
There is a legend which has eventually just become a children's tale. It is disbelieved by many. It tells of a secret entrance into New Basin, designed as an exit in case the city would ever fall under siege. It was supposedly merely a half day's march from the gate, towards the west. However, it's interiors contain much mystery and nobody is quite sure what's inside, if it exists at all.
Let’s travel see what we can find. Looking for any sign maybe even tracks going into or out of hidden areas?
You see some animal tracks going around, but no humanoid tracks. One animal track does, however, startle you, in that it appears to be rather subtle and well supressed and that it belongs to a very large creature.

Norr has to be corrected three times by those who spotted the tracks before he is able to see the animal trail that is so large and yet so subtle and winding, too. His eyes widen. He taps Leo on the arm frantically, as if Norr were the first to see them and not the last.
Norr casts Prestidigitation with a turn of his ring, then points the table of his arcane focus so that it faces in the direction of the tract. He makes it project a rich and pungent aroma of fresh blood, propelling it forward from his ring in a jet of odour, so that the smell spreads forward into the wild scrub that swallows the tract from sight.
"Ok, get ready to see what it is," he says gleefully. He taps Leo on the arm again a few times in excitement. "Come on, come on. Let's climb a tree."

Aye, bet's on! (DM, could I have advantage on my athletics/acrobatics check since I have cat claws and a climbing speed?)

Once Leo sees the tracks he realizes what the tree climbing is really for. "Aye, That'll be important"
um, this might be a little extra but...

Yes plus Rowdy’s feed and our water, I also feed my retainers and asked for them to be supplied with water. As far as water I’m at the mercy of Norr.

I should also note, that the tracks are not individual, but more like a continuous line, almost like a snake...
